It died because it had no content, and the main point of the game was getting arms, locked behind a shitty lottery system that didn't even guarantee you the arms for your fighters. It died, because the game was just meant to hold out until splatoon, which blew arms out of the water, btw. I don't just want characters in smash for the sake of representation. I want interesting characters who can bring fun things to the table, and Arms is very limited on what it brings. Little mac with extendo arms and special attributes on punches is not something I or anyone else even cares about. Not even mad or upset, I think if Sakurai really went all out, it could be a fun moveset. But Arms is actually disappointing because you might be okay with it getting in sure whatever, but literally not a single person cares about the existence of arms at all.

I do. Even if the game isn't great, it's a really fascinating game from the perspective of its world, characters, brazillian-inspired music, and so on. The problem is that the game just doesn't have much to it. Putting an ARMS character in Smash is great because it means I get to play as one of those cool as hell characters in a game that isn't shit.

The space for 3D Fighters right now is limited to fucking licensed shonen anime games and that weird Virtua-On crossover with A Certain Magical Index. ARMS is filling a niche that's not being filled at all right now, and does it with a ton of style.

The Version 1.0 content is embarrassing but I picked it up at 4.0 and had a good time with it. I'd like a sequel to add a proper campaign, more robust matchmaking and remove the ridiculous arm unlock system in favor of more distinctive character toolkits, but it still stands on its own as a fun local arena fighter. I'd like to see them refine the concept and do a blowout with Arms 2 instead of dropping the fucking thing because the first game was a low budget experiment.

Also you talk about the character like they'd be a Mac clone when the most popular picks right now are Twintelle and Minmin who's arms and character abilities are wildly different from Macs. Minmim has a fucking gun and dragon fist, there's a lot to pull from for an engaging Smash moveset.
