I used to play Heroes 3 online and I remember games taking 8+ hours to finish.

I remember doing large maps with random people and we would save the game in the middle of playing, only to play again and load our save the next day.

Most of major fantasy archetypes have been basically covered throughout the franchise, the only missing areas are factions with distinct asian influences (Sanctuary tried that but drowned in blue paint) which would probably be just as hard to reconcile with the visuals prevalent in the series as a high-tech town. Still, something with Thai or Chinese influences would be interesting, I'm sure you can scrape together enough DnD creatures.
If there was a direction for HotA to move to after they're done with Factory it'd probably be Vori? The creative decision to reimagine Tower/Wizard as Arabian Nights-esque Academy was one of the best ideas Ubisoft had going for the series, but they're in the sands leaving us with snow as an unoccupied biome. Personally, I was never a fan of manlets coopting both Moria and Nordic mythology with little originality. I'd love to see something to that end. Valkyries, vikings, bears yes, dwarves, magma rhinos no.
One of the most popular ideas for fanfiction factions is something Lovecraftian with bizzare creatures from beyond and... just no. That's stupid.

tl;dr just open D&D monster manuals and put together any seven creatures with loosely related theme.

From my understanding, if a newcomer installs HoTA he'll be overwhelmed with content. He should start out with base game and gradually work his way towards additional fan content once he's familiar enough with Heroes 3.

I still don't get what you're trying to say in your original post, Corona in HoMM3 obviously isn't named after the virus, and Sseth put the town after the joke of symptoms about Corona that were not intended to talk about Corona in the first place but just any other disease that would create the juxtaposition for the joke.
