HALF-LIFE: ALYX IS COMING TO KEYBOARD + MOUSE
Once again showing the stupidity of modders that haven't got the faintest idea about game design.
The game was designed for VR. It would be an incredibly shitty, shallow experience with keyboard and mouse. But who cares right haha le modders win again, right?
Enjoy your walking simulator.
Same fucking retards who think putting titties or removing leveled lists magically makes Skyrim a good game.
>he thinks good modders still buy valve games
L4D2 mods are just ripped/stolen assets from other games, ported, and some asshole's name slapped on it.
/thread
If it's somehow "worse" with M&KB that means it was never good to begin with.
>shits all over the fanbase by chagning the ending and going "lol we moved two characters around"
ok and why? eli's death was heavy and needed resolution, nothing about this is satisfying and not only is it trash to resort to time travel gimmicks it also locks mainline story progression behind a shit platform no one owns
So you think racing games are no worse on m+kb?
This won't be an enjoyable experience for the parts that kinda need vr to work
Do you play fps games on n64 controllers?
*buys every vr console port*
Racing games are comparable to FPS games now?
you have never played a VR game and it shows
What does that have to do with a PC only game?
can't wait for all the poorfags to play the M&KB version and whine "this isn't impressive at all, I don't get it!!!!"
>that means
Because?
The point is to let poorfags play a part of their beloved franchise without selling a kidney.
It's not a "PC only" game, it's a "VR only" game. VR offers an even bigger difference in experience than between even PC and consoles.
> It would be an incredibly shitty, shallow experience with keyboard and mouse
So the game is shit by itself then
>It would be an incredibly shitty, shallow experience with keyboard and mouse.
The game already that it just becomes obvious with its main gimmick stripped out.
It's like playing an RTS with a gamepad. You can make it work, but it's never really a good experience.
It is definitely a PC only game, unless you can show me that it supports PlayStation VR or something?
Yes actually, two games designed for controllers alternate to m+kb are comparable you fucking dolt
PS5 PSVR port when?
And all super hero movies are shitty movies when you take the super heroes out. But they're still the most popular movies at the box office.
lol this is like comparing sex to beating off to porn. wtf the gimmick of being there is gone and now it sucks! Confirmed vrlet
Calling HL:A a "PC only" game would be the same as calling Bloodeborn a "console only" game, then getting pissed when you cant play it on xbox.
VR games are comparable to M_KB games now?
Unironically looks less fun.
You clearly dont have the faintest idea how VR actually works.
>taking out the thing that makes the game good makes the game not good!
Did you solve that one all by yourself?
Wrong.
>14 hour game suddenly becomes a 2 hour game.
Nice.
meh, this is just a thing modders are doing just because they can. Its not because they think they can make the game better by doing it
well of course.
game is designed with VR in mind. so naturally the experience is severely downgraded.
but it would be nice to have an option for those who cant spend money on a VR headset and controllers. even if it means sacrificing great deal of the integral experience. Why make it purely exclusive? it seems like valve just being fucking assholes towards the fans who have been content starved for 13 years.
Good, hopefully they git rid of the floating shaking hands. I can't take any game seriously when it has floating hands/tools not attached to any arms.
Finally, we are going to start seeing more honest and objective reviews instead of people trying to justify their VR headset purchase.
but user, you're literally moving the game to a beta state to be able to play it outside of vr
Please man, i just wanna play a new halflife game
The best part of this is it's teaching Valve a lesson about leaving commands laying around and making sure that Half-Life 3 won't have those same commands *and* will have more investment in making use of the VR, because this will piss them off given the intent was to sell Index units/push VR.
So thanks modders, you just made the future seethe over HL3 even more juicy.
it actually suits "unforeseen consequences" more than eli dying, which gives me the impression they intended on doing something like this all along
>Valve uses HL like they always do, to test out new tech they've been working on
>Modders strip out the the whole reason the game was made
>People will say it sucks
>Valve doesn't bother making a new HL until some other new shit happens
When HL2 released, my computer was barely good enough to run HL1. Can you imagine if Valve decided to cater to me?
this
alyx just looks like a shitty boring level pack from hl2 without the vr component
low enemy count since its far slower pace from vr
low weapon count because they wanted to designed one hand weapons only since 2 hand feels like shit in vr.
no interactivity with the environments made for vr interactivity
t. console turd butthurt because he can't have bouncy megatits in his version of skyshit
>playing a gimped version of the game
So you admit you're seething because you can't afford VR?
Your point?
Has the thought ever occured to you that maybe YOU are the one in denial?
I'm so glad more people can enjoy the game. Enjoy it non-VR bros!!!!
I'm gonna play through Alyx on KBM but I'm still pretty interested in a VR set, gotta upgrade my PC first tho and I'd like it if I could get a VR set that works with both PC and PS4/5
The first argument cucks always use
>you cant afford it
Is this why you buy shit? to get a brief sense of superiority over people you dont know? do you even care what it even is for?
>game is built around the knowledge that you'll only be able to slowly hobble around a room and poke at objects
>kb+m players bunnyhopping through levels
>game becomes 30 minutes long
>valve when they get found out to be lazy hack frauds
They alienated a significant portion of PC gamers at the time in order to push new technology into the mainstream. The same can be said about Steam as a platform. It is inevitable that people will bitch and moan, but its ultimately much more beneficial to the medium.
Yes but a completely gimmick novel tech piece of hardware that isnt used by 90% of todays games wasnt required to play. you just had to get a more beefy pc.
I think you'd be ruining the game for yourself by playing it M&KB first.
So it's true. It's not that expensive you know, you don't need an Index to have a good VR experience.
>jigsaw puzzles designed to be put together in a very particular way
>modders make every piece fit with every other piece
>puzzle suddenly takes 30 sec to complete
>puzzle makers get found out to be lazy hack frauds
/thread
I already saw the ending on youtube, so the only reason I'd have to play this game is the VR experience.
Take that out and all you have left is a shitty source mod. Come to think of it, I think the VRfags would have loved HDTF if it was made by Valve for VR.
Maybe someday when a VR kit is actually worth half my salary I'll come back and play this game. Until then it will remain unplayed, just like Opposing Force and Blue Shift.
So the game is shit by itself then
>being this upset no one bought the video games biggest flop (VR)
>mfw there are still people defending VR
OOF
>completely gimmick novel tech piece of hardware that isnt used by 90% of todays games
People said the same thing about discrete graphics cards
MOUSE AND KEYBOARD CHADS WIN AGAIN
The game is fantastic in VR, I'm failing to see your train of thought...
>poorfags going full sour grapes in this thread
Alyx was fun as fuck
You do understand this is the second time VR has flopped right? they tried in the 90s and it flopped then, here we are again and once again it's basically flopped with most developers/publishers pulling out because the market is so niche.
cope harder
This post wont age well
Of course someone who uses a photo of AidsMoby would post like a mentally ill nigger.
valve better block this
The grapes are nice and sweet user
>flopped
>pancakes so desperate to play it they'll accept a severely downgraded version
not to mention most VR exclusive games end up being ported to regular PC and consoles anyway with classic control schemes since.
>people are too busy shitposting to realize
VALVE FUCKING PORTED EVERYTHING FROM HL1 AND HL2 INTO SOURCE 2 FOR EASY FORWARD PORTING WHEN THE SDK RELEASES
BASED VALVE DOES IT AGAIN BOYS
>Still less then 1% of all users on steam own a vr headset
/Thread
>most VR exclusive games end up being ported to regular PC and consoles anyway with classic control
What games?
legit nobody gave a shit about VR until one of the biggest names of PC gaming had to get a new installment after 13 years of being completely dead and irrelevant.
its literally because of the branding. and yes people want to play because it just happens to be the first half life game in 13 years.
>I know you always wanted a car so... I got you this Hot Wheels set!
>so you put your finger on top of the little car like so and give it a push and look! Just like driving!
Dude, the whole point of VR is to be an upgrade.
>finally get to go to animeland
>get to hold big anime titties with my virtual hands
>but I can't hold a mouse and click and drag the titties so it's shit
This idea would make more sense if the biggest name in PC game development didn't just release a new game in the biggest PC game franchise to spectacular reviews.
There's already a mod in the works to remake HL2 in Source 2.
>No Feedback
you dont holding anything.
You will never do unless they make gloves with perfect movement input and actual feedback.
bald cuck lol
After experiencing Half-Life in VR I struggle to imagine playing it any other way again. The game was so immersive that I haven't quite experienced anything like it before. I'm happy people without a VR headset will be able to play through it and get the story experience. But it's not insane to say your experience won't even compare to someone's who played with a VR headset. It's as simple as that.
Judging by this thread, the damage control and buyer remorse is going to be juicy
>I can't play the game so it's bad
Wow, it's almost like the whole point of HL:A was to give people a reason to be interested in VR. Instead you're pissing your diapers.
It would be an upgrade, if there was some way to actually feel things.
Until then VR is pointless in my opinion.
Yes, and im upset about that, making a game after 13 years of nothing then making it exclusive to some meme tech that still has decades worth of research and implementation before it even good.
