still waiting on floating islands

Ngl this nether update is shaping up nicely with the new biomes, blocks and this motherfucker
I don’t get the point of the pig creatures tho, what purpose do they serve? Are they just another polar bear-tier useless mob?

WHERE IS THE CAVE UPDATE

Who's this boy

If you mean the hoglin, they are meant to be a source of food. It was announced during the last Minecon.

What the fuck is this thing supposed to be

Nether Striders are a new passive mob that can be saddled and used to cross lava lakes

>fix textures
planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/developer-art-1-14-and-1-13/
Keep an eye on this

Piglins or Hoglins? Piglins you can barter with for exclusive items and enchantments. Hoglins are just a food source like overworld cows and pigs so you can live in exclusively the Nether

I'm having trouble re-skinning this latest update. I must be doing something wrong, because usually as the snapshots come, I pick out what's new and put my style on it. But this time, nothing I'm changing is reflecting as changed in the same itself. It's weird because my personal texture pack IS showing through, but everything added is not.

I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

>update making the Nether easier to survive in ratther than more difficult
Shit update tbqhwyf.

...

ok but what the fuck is it supposed to be

this
why the fuck are they making it more habitable? It’s the most retarded shit

>Spawn in soulsand valley
>Can't move shit
>Surrounded by Skeletons and Ghasts
>Can't move shit
>Die

Thanks obama.

Don't tell him about the Soulsand Valley.

A creature.
It's definitely on par with the Creeper with being a blocky creature and not a regular animal. It's good to see the Nether get some love at long last.

Nether was a barren shithole with nothing of value except for the fortress. Now it has several distinct biomes, sentient and aggressive natives, huntable food source, a way of traversing the lava oceans and much more. What exactly are you complaining about?

It wasn’t “hard” it was literally impossible because it was a barren empty wasteland with no resources or anything to do besides raid the same structure over and over

The design is cute but this new change in the game's art style is just so jarring and tryhard.

You mean Pigger?

>NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A BASE IN THE NETHER!!!! YOU WERE ONLY MEANT TO FIND THE NETHER FORTRESS AND NEVER GOME BACK!!!!

Gonna start a new world and make a cool nether base when it comes out

Attached: 1564775625768.jpg (816x720, 88.43K)

What the fuck was there to "survive" from in the old nether? It was empty as fuck. A stray Ghast was never going to kill you. The only real danger was if you made a manual Wither Skeleton farm in a Fortress. Soul Sand Valleys are much more challenging than the entirety of the old nether combined.

Too bad we still can't place water. It tickles my autism something crazy that the player character doesn't have access to nourishing and hydrating water.

No, you are thinking of Piglins, I meant the wart forest boars.

Well biology in minecraft is pretty sloppy with it's biology in the first place. Every creature is hermaphroditic and seemingly has their reproductive organs in their faces.

>nether striders
>hoglin
>piglin
Why is mojang so shit at names

upset that pigger was not the name. pig + bigger its genius!

I know, but water is just too essential, and I need to be able to have it available.

I wanted lava boats in minecraft since it came out on xbox 360, so I'm happy

it’s actually just “strider” which is even more generic

I forget, how does updating work for existing worlds? Can I still find the new biomes in a world I started on an old version?

I'm not necessarily complaining about new content, I'm just saying that making the nether just a "red overworld" completely disregards the original intent of the Nether. It was meant to be a challenging place you needed to go to progress to The End. I can get how the Nether would be challenging at first, but after the first couple of times the Nether isn't necessarily threatening so long as you're careful and know what you're doing. Again, I don't mind the new biomes and the new mobs, but adding things like a food source and woods in a place meant to be uninhabitable in the first place is kind of detrimental to the point of the Nether. I just wish they added more hostile mobs, like maybe different kinds of ghasts or maybe even a mini boss-esque mob you might randomly come across in order to balance things out, especially since they added a new armor which is stronger than diamond.

I don't necessarily understand what would be so hard about Soulsand Valley
>move at normal speed on soul soil
>jump and sprint when on soul sand

As if it wasn't already possible to have a base in the nether?
Don't get me wrong, I like the fact we're getting content, especially in the Nether, I just wish there were more challenges added in order to balance out adding more helpful things. I kinda wish they had added a mob which was based around fighting the player with Netherite armor, but could spawn even if the player didn't have Netherite, adding a bit of tension to exploring the Nether.

Yes, just find chucks you have not explored yet.

The second we can use any stone variant (diorite/andesite/granite/basalt) like cobble for making tools, you can quite reasonably start a game in the nether and never leave.

Netherlet here, what's the best enchantment for protection against lava? And is netherite even worth it?

>best enchantment for protection against lava
Obviously, Fire Resistance.
>is netherite even worth it?
It's better, tougher and faster than diamond, so yes. Also, netherite tools and armor don't burn in lava, so even if you die, you can recover them. Upgrading to it costs 1 ingot (4 gold, 4 scrap) per item.

See, 'Ancient Debris' is such a cool name, I don't think I could bring myself to smelt it to make the necessary material.

That design looks awful.

it's a moot point, Minecraft updates are doomed to be shit because they always have less content than even a single mod, and they break every mod when they release. Plus they shit on performance until modders can fix it. This is why anyone who actually still plays this game knows that later versions are just "meme versions" and the game only actually updates when the mod community decides it's time.

>I don't think I could bring myself to smelt it to make the necessary material.
What did he mean by this?

It seems like something more interesting to build something out of.

The new Nether ambience is one of the most underappreciated things in this update.

Because it is a game for children.

What are some good mods for the newest version, I played minecraft a bit but never even got to working with redstone in the eight years I've been playing it on and off. I just want to explore more and make a fishery or somethign.

>Obviously, Fire Resistance.
I mean this is obvious but after taking a peek at the shitheap of retard and/or old info on minecraft I wasn't so sure.

Yeah, so creative. Everyone wanted something that would move slower than swimming in the lava with an FR potion and needed an item of it's own with no other uses.

>Take a barren wasteland filled only with monsters and ruins
>Add a fucking forest biome
Who thought this wouldn't ruin the aesthetic?

optifine is basically required
it's a massive fps boost and enables shaders

they added ambient sounds in the new nether update? how does it sound? last time i played minecrap was ages ago.

What made you think that fire resistance wouldn't work against lava? I'm really curious.

Striders are quite a bit faster that swimming though. And putting a mushroom on a fishing rod is not that complicated.

the problem with minecraft is its limit height, for a cave update to work they need to remake this point, with at least 1000 in height, and the dificult increasing the more that u descend.

Holy fuck that's cool, they should add ambience like this in the Overworld.

>my autistic headcanon IS canon

made me think of this
youtube.com/watch?v=oWTC7P1Dprw

It's not even a headcanon. Every update to the Nether before this one kept it looking desolate; even the one neutral mob were an undead version of a scrapped overworld mob.

oh god I remember those threads, why couldn't pigger make it in??

Attached: Crycat_02.jpg (554x449, 135.8K)

Height limit of 1024

1024-768: Just empty space above the clouds, better view of stars and maybe some exotic mobs.

768 is as high as the highest mountains can get, clouds are a bit below.

512 is the sea level.

512-256: Normal Minecraft caves and the deepest oceans (not counting trenches).

256-128: Harder stone, requires an iron pickaxe, but also more valuable ores and more dangerous mobs. As deep as the ocean trenches go.

128-0: Even harder rock, pockets of lava, best ores and, of course, the most dangerous mobs, maybe even a boss.

why isnt it a frog? or any bug that skids on water?
honestly, what creature is that?
its a person isnt it?

>try to survive in soulsand valley
>can't fucking move
>skeletons shooting at me
>ghasts shooting at me
>try to hide in my house to feel safe
>still hear the wailing of tortured souls in the distance
>can still hear the whispers..
