I'm envious of Switch owners. That said the character designs should have gone with the hand painted look (like the city they walk through) this looks like a cheap indy dev product. It wouldn't have been more demanding on the system and would have meshed better with the world. As it stands it looks like someone imported early-gen PS3 characters from a totally different game into an octopath traveler rip-off attempt world.

The devs seem to have forgotten they are making the game for the Switch and not the 3DS.

The mixed reviews likely come from the second half of the game, where you must refight the 4 main bosses several times. I can see why people would be turned off by that, but I personally can get past that tedium.

Only the first half of Default is good. Bravely Second doesn't exist.

On the other hand my main problems with octopath came from how they squandered the 8 character thing plus a little extra salt because the collectors edition was kind of disappointing so I might still get it

honestly its depended on SE this time, cause Nintendo did allow Monolith to go CERO-C with XC2, and you can see that the game didnt hold any punches in term of lewd designs

All they have to do is not fuck up the story and I'll be happy. the battle/class system of the default games are already way better than octopath.

These designs are a major step down from 1. I never played bravely second so maybe they're better than that but still not good.

arent they all from Div11 of SE? OT gained quite the hype from the fact that it was from the people behind BD. granted OT's quite peculiar, and not that appealing to many in term of story telling, but the gameplay was solid

New game entirely. Judging by the last 2 games though it will definitely have some connection to them though.
It’s really a “you love it or you hate it” game. The soundtrack is top tier and the gameplay is really unique for a JRPG. Most complaints come from a certain gameplay twist about 60% of the way into the game which is understandable (even though it didn’t affect me that much).

What they did to the bunny suit and bikini was unforgivable but theres something about a leotard covered in belts that hit me just right for the vampire thing. Not saying its ok but it did help me learn something about myself.

As long as they dont straight change a character like they did with the indian/cowboy shit in Second, that was fucked beyond the pale

Pray tell which games allow you to freely switch around and mix and match jobs these days? The only one I can think of is Fell Seal and that was based off FF Tactics, one of the two games that inspired the job mixing mechanics, the other being FF V, which is the basis for the Bravely games and Octopath.

They're just doing the same thing as Octopath Traveller, which worked out really well for them.
