Can we please take a moment to appreciate how good this game is? It grows on you the more you replay it. It's not just the best Resident Evil game but is the best horror game ever made, period. Beautiful visuals, impeccable pacing, excellent cast of characters, god-tier atmosphere, intriguing storyline, fun and engaging gameplay. How did such a masterpiece get made in this day and age? There's no way REmake 3 would be able to top this.

But that's obvious. Remake doesn't have Claire and RPD's fun structure. Jill is boring but we have Carlos to inject personality into the game. Remake is also more action-based.
Both aren't really great though. RE2 cut out a lot of good stuff. Leon, Sherry and Claire don't even interact properly. The game also suffers from a severe downgrade as soon as you get into the sewers, losing steam and becoming way less fun. NEST was not as good as RPD as well. RE3 will be just Jill shooting at big monsters and running from annoying Spider-Man Nemesis.

I played it for the first time about 2 weeks ago. 14 playthroughs later, i can honestly say, this is the best video game i have ever played in my life. It's the definition of a 10/10.

RE4 came out when I was 12 and I beat it multiple times with a smile on my face, sometimes with friends. Dead Space 2 came out when I was 18 and I had to avoid playing for too long or else I'd have anxiety attacks, till later I got used to the game. Now I play it once a year.
RE2 doesn't even approach Dead Space's level of horror and atmosphere. Play Dead Space 1 or 2 with headphones and have fun.

Deadspace's atmosphere is way better than re2re's not even close, they do this weird thing where Issac is the player insert, but it doesn't really work. It's a game that could do with a remake, but I know it'd get butchered.
Siren is shit too (second one is kinda decent at times), your standards seems kinda low
I honestly cant decide if I like the wacky puzzle bullshit police station from the original or the more realistic but still sort of puzzly former art museum from the remake. Also the labs - I cant tell if I like the dirty, grungy labs from the original as they fit the 90's aesthetic more, but Umbrella not having a super state of the art facility like in remake doesn't make sense when you think about it.
Sewers a shit in both. Also they fucked up the opening in remake, it was a relief to get to the police station in the original after going through the dangerous alleys of the city, but in remake you just run a bit and you're there.

Lab is okay but it's so fast. It's like a bookend. The game pretty much ends after RPD. Once you're out of the sewers the game is over, with the lab being the little finale.
