Which is better?
SMT or Persona?
Other urls found in this thread:
SMT by far
t. someone that got into Megaten with P3P and bought a Vita only for Golden
Both have good and shit games.
Persona 3 is the best persona game, Nocturne is the best SMT game.
Tribal mentality needs to stop.
Not everything needs to be compared.
>t. someone that played the shittiest version of P3 and bought a vita for the worst persona game.
Yeah great dude. You really impressed me.
>3 is the best Persona
>Nocturne is the best SMT
lmao
both of those are persona retard
No one is really making any convincing arguments...
lawfag spotted
persona > smt
and whoever made this image is a retard who has yet to play the only worthwhile games in the entire series
>lmao
What? You think SMT4 or Apocalypse is any better than Nocturne?
I sure do love looking at still images of enemies while numbers blip on the screen endlessly.
Also the amazing cast of characters: Mr. Law, Mr. Chaos and Ms. Neutral who's entirely dialogue boils down to "I am the posterboy of this path did you forget that yet"?
Oh yeah, the unavoidable encounters, enemies spawning endlessly beneath you, the fusion mechanics where every single demon is the exact same but with a picture swap which you rarely get to see because it's crushed into the bottom screen and the top screen is just the enemies making combat a fucking slog and absolutely the worst part of a videogame which should never be the case under any circumstance.
Jesus christ I fucking hated the 3ds SMT games, I don't have any hope for SMT5 at this point.
Strange Journey is far and away the best SMT game and the best Atlus. Nocturne has a nice aesthetic, sure, but that's it. Even DDS has more depth to it.
>Mr. Law, Mr. Chaos and Ms. Neutral
That's literally the plot of Nocturne
>nuh uh because muh true demon ending
Enjoy being Lucifer's cocksleeve.
>That's literally the plot of Nocturne
Nocturne doesn't have Law/Chaos/Neutral.
It has a bunch of characters who want to remake the world as they think it should be made as a result of their personal experiences in life and during the conception. There's much more to them in the very few conversations you get with these characters than in SMT4 and Apocalypse.
dont mind me just posting the best atlus protagonist in all of atlus history
I like Elizabeth and think she's cute
Persona forever and always
SMT if you absolutely love the combat mechanics of SMT and can stick with them for 50 hours of gameplay
Persona if you just like comfy highschool power fantasy
If Nocturne let you choose which skills get inherited during fusion it would be my favourite game of all time.
based raidou
>supernatural detective
>has a non-shit talking cat
>power level on par with dante
>has the respect of both high tier chaos and lawfags alike
>gets in naked fist fights with the yakuza
>doesn't recruit demons, he forces them into tubes
>made the personaverse this might actually be a problem
uh oh BASED
Persona
I'd like to shill Digital Devil Saga to be contrarian but to be honest it sucks
Maken X
it doesn't suck though
It's so simple and boring trying to play it after Nocturne. The story seemed cool but can't make up for being torture to play.
Devil Survivor
They're about the same overall.
I know it might seem kind of shallow but actually seeing your demons be more than just a name on a bar fighting still sprites really adds a lot to the game. I played nocturne and SMT4 ages apart from each other so I never really caught it at first. I always felt like something was missing in 4 and that was one thing. it's missing a hell of a lot more stuff too because it's a shit game and so is 4a but yeah.
Persona 3 and 4 drifted away from SMT but 5 restored a number of elements.
Both SJ and SMTIV are better than Nocturne.
No it didn't you fucking retard. Stop pretending you played any SMT. Stay in your zoomerbait garbage.
Another thing Persona 5 has zero innovation . Although that also applies to 5
>best rpg of all time
Imagine actually believing this. P5 does not add anything new to the franchise except for the zoomer style
It's literally the same thing as Nocturne but replaces demon fusion with customizable party members. It's LESS torturous to play because you don't have to reroll demon skills constantly to get the set skillset you want. T b h I like both but I can understand why some people wouldn't like it if they were real big fans of demon fusion. Personally, I think it stands out because it does something different.
>virgin vs. chad meme
Both Joker and Tatsuya are virgins iirc
Only Door-kun actually had sex
fuck lawfags, chaoschads forever
Does this game have varied backgrounds? I want to play an immersive jrpg.
i can add to that. As someone who got into atlus rpgs via persona 5 i can say that the combat was pretty fun but the style is what drove me to pick it up. The emphasis of this flashy sleek theif spy shit they pulled off along with the music made me want to play it. The waifu shit was secondary to what i liked about it. I liked the press turn system and tryed out other persona games starting with 3 fez then nocturne. I stuck to nocturne and found it leuges better then the persona series becuase despite not having the flashy flare 5 had the battle system and lybriths were engageing as fuck. hoping to play through smt 1 and 2 then persona 1 and 2 to see just how diffrent the 2 series intially were at the start.
who Aus here?
>yfw zoomers think P5 added new shit but it's all old shit from games they didn't play
The encounter density in DDS is just way too high for how simplistic the systems are. And estoma doesn't do a fucking thing because you're always technically underlevelled even if enemies are absolutely zero threat.
Nocturne just plays so much better. If nothing else estoma almost always making a large cut to encounter rate is so nice.
>That's literally the plot of Nocturne
Yes, but actually no.
The plot of Nocturne is YHVH giving a couple people chance to decorate their little world as they see fit. While character ideologies do loosely align with those three viewpoints (Hikawa making not-Law, Chiaki doing not-Chaos and Isamu going for whatever the fuck he thinks it is but it's not even Neutral), the system gets a wrench thrown in it thanks to Aradia and Lucifer, one of which is giving you True Neutral ending, and pursuing the other basically shows you that your play-pretend game of Law/Chaos/Neutral is pointless and you either just submit to the Great Will or go balls deep by overthrowing Lucy and fucking up all the parallel worlds just to spite it.
after Persona 5 got ruined by SJWs, I'm jumping ship back to SMT
>I know it might seem kind of shallow but actually seeing your demons be more than just a name on a bar fighting still sprites really adds a lot to the game.
It's not shallow at all. A videogame needs a visual aspect to it. That's part of the excitement of a videogame.
What's the point in demon fusion if you never get to see your demons? They're nothing but a list of skills in the 3DS games so fusing a new demon doesn't feel like anything at all.
I mean, I get it's kind of a shoutout to the old games where that's all they could really do. And SJ had some pretty limited hardware. But fug man. Playing nocturne again after all these years after playing 4 and 4a is a real eye opener to me. I forgot what we had, what we COULD have.
>what we COULD have.
We could still have it again some day.
SMT5 is going to decide whether I buy a switch or not.
If it has potential, I'm going to buy a switch.
does "Aus" stand for "Autistic"? because only this comes to mind when I see a nigger owning persona games
>5-6 years in development
>absolutely added nothing new and innovative to the nu-persona
>just modern polish and style
>b-but best rpg of all time amirite?!
The absolute state of Fatlus
>weak personas
>can stop time
>weak
What the fuck is wrong with you user
I see no reason why they'd go first-person again with 5. 4 at least had the limited screen resolution of the 3DS, but there's no excuse with the Switch.
>persona 5 still making SMTbabbies uncontrollably seethe to this day
I love it
I'm sad to say I just don't have high hopes for it these days. But only time will tell.
>Pre-order P5R
>All EB games stores shut down.
>E-mail them asking what will happen with my pre-order.
>Get told "eh we're thinking of something maybe" in response.
I'm going to be sitting here waiting for a physical copy while everyone else is playing it digital.
Neither. I choose Raidou!
THE ARCANA
Basically this. I forgive fatlus for P4 because it's essentially their second nu-persona game but P5? It is literally just a more polished and stylish version of the previous games.
Fucking hacks.
IS THE MEANS
P3 is the only persona game that should have had the calendar system and the gimmick worked with it's themes.
P4 and beyond should have abandoned it for a different gimmick, one more appropriate to it's themes.
As it stands, P4 and P5 are just re-using the calendar system lazily and writing around it instead of making a story first and having the gameplay reflect and enhance it.
I have never met someone who played SMT that prefers Persona. Usually people claiming Persona is better are shitters hardglued to their waifu who read a synopsis off a wiki and get turned off when they read it doesn't have dating sim mechanics.
Where are my Digital Devil Saga negroes at?
BY WHICH
I have literally played nearly every Megami Tensei game and I still prefer Persona
ALL IS REVEALED
