It is a bit odd, brits uses their fair share of guns as well. It looks like they just have a special reverence for the long bow because it allowed them to dominate so early.

Dracula has always been a force of evil in the games, albeit, exhibiting 5% of a good side once in a while. The church was always a force of good in the game and most good characters in the series are agents of the church.

Belief acts as a well of power for the main cast, but not a single one of them actually preach Jesus in any kind of way. Leaving Christian/Catholic representation in Castlevania to be purely symbolic.
