I finally got to play a Shantae game. Something about it feels... strange? The gameplay itself is pretty standard. Animations, while smooth, looked tweened to death. I don't know, It seems hyper exploitive while also being some type of coded pedoshit. There's something off about it.
It was one of those free xbox games, so I'm not really pissed. It was "free". I understand why it has its fanbase but it just comes off as creepy.

This to be honest. I wouldn't say that that or story stuff in general is a strong point of the series, but Pirate's Curse at least made an effort to make Risky less one dimensional and actually fleshed out Rotty substantially. Half-Genie Hero didn't really do anything like that.

I agree with this Pirate cruse was the best character development wise and game play wise. Making Risky back to a crackling villain was the worst choice after that game

Remember Rottytop’s theme from Pirate’s Curse? That shit is the best.

Pirate's Curse version felt playful and mischievous. HGH version sounded way more flirty. Good to hear if they still got it in the new game though.
