Lack of central vision in regards of what direction to take the game in

it's kikerosoft honestly, anything they develop for java has to be ported over to bedrock at around the same time, plus add in corporate bureaucracy and it takes fucking eons

I would say they're reluctant to make significant changes to the game because of how large and split the fanbase is, but adding a tool/armor tier better than diamond is something they would never do if they truly followed that mindset.

No, they know the direction to take, the problem is they aren't able to apply the direction well for some reason.

It needs to stay open they just seemingly don't know how to keep that true. It's like they look at mods and know most of those don't go in the right direction but can't see why they don't.

Freedom, for example, isn't affected if they add more ores and keep them in balance with the others in some way. They don't need to be even better than Diamond, they just need to be useful in some other way to encourage you to go that path instead of Diamond. Or as strong as Diamond but through an entirely separate chain of obtaining.

They're on the kind of right track in the way they gave gold armor an extra function to encourage it's use since there was zero reason to not go straight from Iron to Diamond previously but Netherite really makes it seem like they're confused.

Maybe an Emerald armor which is slightly worse that Diamond but if you're wearing it Villagers give you better trades. Or a Ruby Armor which ignores fire damage of all kinds ansd it's pick auto smelts blocks that can be at the cost of durability. Or a Sapphire/Lapis armor which makes you move faster in water and the tools auto Silk Touch things for a durability cost. And Leather Armor can maybe protect better against fist or any other item since leather works best against blunt attacks.

Or not even any of that - you find different material in different biomes so your journey is different from someone else but they're the same power as the existing ones to keep the balance.

You can have freedom without fucking things up from basically how they are now and they don't seem to comprehend that.

They did in 1.9 update a few years ago (different swing cooldown for different weapons, off hand shield), a now the system is being revise again.
