Why does no one want to mod the pc version of this game?
it gets worse the more i think about it
The game breaks itself apart if you uncap the framerate, same reason why the Symphonia port will forever be fucked.
This game served its purpose well. It was the transition game that first introduced not switching between field and combat maps in the series. It's a bad game, but it did a good thing. Its like Legendia in that Legendia introduced 3D combat, but was also shitty.
>Legendia introduced 3d combat
Is this bait?
Honestly, that's a feature I never cared for and I'd gladly banish it from the series if it means having better games.
Is zestiria even worth it if you enjoyed Berseria? I keep hearing bad things about it but also sort of want to try it out since I sort of liked the worldbuilding in berseria
Same here. I was satisfied with Berseria's ending but if I played Zestiria, I feel like I'd end up bummed.
>Was it really that bad?
It was. At least the boys were cute.
My favorite Tales of. you plebs have no taste and really disgust me you're like sheep following the herd.
As a game it was unironically one of the better ones, better combat than abyss and vespy and graces, the game actually has puzzles and a nice overworld and the story isn't even that bad it's just a jrpg. People here try to pretend besteria is better but that game is literally just a fucking hallway that's been stretched out to hell and back to inflate the gameplay timer and there's legit no puzzles or anything, just empty hallways, be nice if the game had a story but it fails there to until the last 20 minutes of the game
I honestly think Berseria makes Zestira better if you actually connect the parallels between the two protagonists and their journeys. And there are times where having played Zestiria first would've benefited you more in Berseria. But it's not "necessary", I would advise you to give it a try and drop it if it isn't for you
The only tales game I have ever stopped playing partway through, that qualifies it as pretty bad in my book.
There was literally just nothing about it that went right, everything from the plot to music, to the gameplay. Literally nothing about it was good.
It was mediocre, yes. But it was my first Tales of so I can't hold it against it.
Very glad Mikleo won though
>The game breaks itself apart if you uncap the framerate, same reason why the Symphonia port will forever be fucked.
So, since Symponhia port has code from the gamecube version, is it possible to restore the 60fps by extracting the files of the Symphonia PC port and find the files that contains the settings for FPS which it is supposed to be shared with the Gamecube version?
No it wasn't. The camera and party restrictions alone ruin a lot of the experience during combat, especially when playing with someone else. Don't pretend Zestiria dungeons aren't just actual hallways either, with the occasional switch that makes you backtrack. The overworld is boring, and that's not the half of it.
Legend is still the best Tales game.
This. The only redeeming thing in Berseria is Magilou. Zesteria was better in almost every capacity.
>Was it really that bad?
No.
It pretty much killed the series so yeah
wanna be the white white light
The broader attempt at a realistically scaled world was welcome, the music was a nice surprise, and I liked the silly crew. Rose acting as a kind of quest log could be the threshold of the series finally making it's hidden sidequests not hidden. I never felt in control in the battles though, with the sudden super armor, the damage numbers not meaning anything, and the equipment customizing being far, far more trouble than it was worth.
>Tales has faded into near irrelevancy
In part that game is to blame for it.
You got to admit that the walking animations of Symphonia with uncapped fps are hillarious.
berseria exists and there's another on the way. so nope.
>and there's another on the way
I keep forgetting about Tales of the Arse.
>let's go for the open world meme and cripple the entire battle system for no reason
Xillia 2 might have been an expansion pack sold at full price but the quality drop with Zestiria was a blasphemy.
It never was. It's certainly mediocre as fuck on the story side of things and had a lot of missed potential but as a game I never disliked it. Berseria made it better retroactively as well with how it tied into things.
Berseria is good.
Zestiria is one of the worst. Even worse than the Vita game.
Zesteria and Baba killed the series.
There was no coming back after this.
Yeah, it was terrible. I managed to finish it at least, can't say the same for Berseria. I really hope Arise isn't a disaster.
I hope Arise is better but than glimpse of a battle makes think we are back to the press button for something awesome to happen like Berseria, they better prove me wrong.
And a damn good game XIllia 2 is considering how I found 1 to be one of the most mediocre tales games in a series filled with generic anime adventure story.
Ludger's suffering fuel and the story revolving him is great.
I bough it a while ago not knowing how terrible it is, what should I know going into it?
>Legendia introduced 3D combat
You get that filthy Desian rhetoric outta here.
>>Was it really that bad?
Yes. I'm surprise that nobody talk about armory upgrade system in this game
The story is incredibly mediocre. Other elements aren't that bad honestly.
Dunno how anyone would like 2 if they disliked the first title after it blatantly reused all of 1's already bland maps but in even worse contexts. The story of Xillia 1 is pretty good but only if you play Jude's side. I don't know why they even included Milla's story as an option, especially for the first runthrough.
This and Berseria are the final nails in the coffin.
Yes, because the series relied on DEMON FANG and stories were shit when even compared to shittier series like Star Ocean
I'm 99% sure Symphonia was the first 3D combat title.
ToX wasn't really generic though. Literally everything was subverted. I mean I guess you can say it's generic for a Tales game, but eh.
Agree that Ludger's story is great though. His suffering was what made it so endearing.
I did play Judes side, it was so boring that I wanted the game to be over.
I agree on reused maps being absolute shit but ludger being great to play made up for it. I mainly bought the game since it was the period when Namco decided to start releasing tales again after the gap.
I dont remember much since I havent played it since release but nothing in the story stood out to me at all barring Alvin's constant betrayal and getting away with it 100 times in a row. If anything it maybe heavy bias from me since I found the whole cast to be so boring that it affected how much I enjoyed the story.
It was quite bad. The 2ch drama about the producer supposedly favoring Rose was basically fabricated and a weird red herring for criticism, but the rest of the game was pretty lousy.
At least Berseria was pretty good.
>Hideous Baba killed the series
>All because he wanted to elevate his real-life waifu to Lightning levels, at the cost of the game's initial marketing
>Denied it and made her publicly and shamefully apologise to the fans after the severe backlash and death threats
Remind me what this was about again?
When people say Symphonia breaks if you uncap it they mean literally break
youtu.be
Zes initially advertised the spear girl Alisa or whatever heavily to be the main heroine (Even stated on the main site till it was changed later).
She fucks off ingame quickly and Rose Jesus takes over her role. The voice actor for Rose had to apologize publicly for Baba's mistake.
I only own because i saw this triple pack on sale, i only played vesperia so far
>steppin' on the beach
The entire thing was case of bad communication between the design staff and the marketing staff. Marketing latched onto Alisha because she had a more exciting design than Rose and paraded her around like she was the main heroine only to find out that Alisha didn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things which pissed off a lot of people. Hell the anime staff even bought into it and shat all over the already subpar storyline to make Alisha relevant.
The ironic thing now is that Alisha ranked lower than Rose in the last few polls now that the dust settled.
>Make marketing about Alisa and everything
>Games comes out
>Turns out she was just a secondary character and that baba pushed a new characters because why not
>As a result Zestiria feels incredibly rushed after the first arc (The one that has Alisha)
>Then as the final nail in the coffin proceeds to sell Alisha as DLC (Also the first and only story DLC in Tales of)
>Lots of refunds, death treats to both Rose's seiryuu and Baba
>Baba ends up fucking off after this game
This game, can you make MC end with the princess?
>big ass open empty fields
>lol it's ok bro it's so you can have real time battle environments
Shitty addition.
Also berseria was a boring game that people praise simply because it came out after steaming garbage so it felt like an improvement. Let's rejoice now that Baba is gone and the series is getting away from all the shit he brought with him.
It came out. It was a bust, no shilling could have helped it. Baba resigned and made mobile games at SE (And left there too) even Namco has decided to move on to something new.
It was a wasted effort.
Baba leaving was unironically that best thing that came out from Zestiria
There was no "effort".
Sure there was.
It's just that it didn't mean anything in the end.
In retrospect its not that bad honestly
>Was it really that bad?
You're asking a man who has played this game twice all the way through, including the extra dungeon and bosses.
I am a man who literally grinded several items to +99 and then sacrificed them so I could grind more items to get double and triple stack skills and my second playthrough was entirely an Unknown mode playthrough in order to maximize the amount of skills I get to FULLY explore the battle system. On every single character I had the skills to decrease casting time by 40%, half stamina usage, double the amount of hits on every attack, and infinitely combo.
YES.
THE GAME WAS TERRIBLE and an embarrassment to Tales as a series.
The only good thing about Zestiria were Edna, Symonne and Zaveid.
>Zestiria has a massive wealth of issues.
>The only thing people care about is the shittiest Tales character ever conceived is just a side character and not a main character.
Fuck you all you waifu fag pieces of shit.
Berseria was really good. Flawed, but good. You can tell the people in charge of it were trying to "honour" Zestiria by not changing too much about the combat, just enough to make it better than Zestiria.
