I played my favorite heroes until it wasn't fun anymore

Haven't played consistently in a long time but I picked it back up last summer and was having fun in turbo with heroes like Clock and Weaver
Last time I played was in December though and I haven't had any desire to jump back
The game is clearly in it's death throes and it's hard to have fun when most of the remaining playerbase are jaded autists with no signs of new blood coming in

I quit around November when the new patch dropped. Have been playing forever but it's only been in the past three years that I've begun to get incredibly annoyed at how they constantly fucking change so much. So I'm done and sorry that I've had to quit but I can't help but be offended at everything Valve does. The design of the Ogre Arcana irrationally made my blood boil like nothing else.

I still read the patches. I'm glad I fucking stopped because holy shit do they just not give a fuck about doing any changes right the first time.

According to Dotabuff I quit in 2016 during a losing streak and played again 2 matches during 2018 for nostalgia's sake.

I can tell you right now that the days where I played Dota were the most miserable I had lived, I'm glad I stopped no need for me to wake up waiting for patches.

About a half a year after 7.00 dropped.

I don't necessarily think the changes are bad, but there's a limit to how much you can change before it gets excessive. What makes Dota2 so rewarding is spending the time and effort to master it, and drastically changing it eventually becomes demoralizing when all the builds and strategies you spent months, or even years, perfecting becomes invalid and you have to start from scratch again. I just walk away feeling like I wasted my time.

I remember what killed me, I have 1500 wins or something, guy on my team calls mid, we get btfo, I check his profile, and he has less than 100 games. For that level of competition and time it takes I just had to nope out. Never waste my time like that again.

About 6 or so years ago when I discovered league. Don't get me wrong Dota 2 is a fantastic game, but it never really clicked with me like league did.

This is my complaint. My friends tell me if my practice with a hero is made irrelevant it means I never got good with it. Then they turn around and tell me metagame shit about how my heroes suck because some guy 2k above our level says so.

If Valve wants to capsize the boat all the fucking time and flip it again once people have found their sea-legs and players are so fucking up their own ass that nobody can seem to recognize when others have actually gotten good at something they've poured endless hours into, then fuck all of it. I played this game for 5k hours and only saw 10% of the overall cast, even at Divine rank. I don't know why you guys joined a "Why'd you stop playing" to try and refute opinions on why people stopped playing.
