He didn't do it
It's not playable
>99% of interactions are broken
>patched out in the first update
LMAO
You mod games to make them VR, not the other way around. This fact destroys the poorfag
You are retarded beyond saving if you think a game built ground up to be on VR is going to be good when some mouth-breathing retard makes a half assed 2d mod for it.
Yeah, it's shit.
I've played Alyx and attempting to bring the game to non-VR is bound to fail. m&k can't be used to replace VR controllers without breaking half of the puzzles.
Even if someone were to succeed, the final product would be garbage since every little thing about Alyx was designed to use VR.
desu seeing someone play through Jeff with this mod could be pretty fucking funny
Tick Tock
Any video of this?
I haven't played alyx but what could the VR puzzles be beyond "e to pull this or that lever" or "carry this crate over here?" I'd seriously like some examples because I've seen this argument before.
>desperately scrolling through inventory trying to find a bottle
>press E
>bottle breaks early
>die
Playing a game made from the ground up for VR is like watching a youtube video of a rollercoaster ride. It may be cheaper, but its not the same thing.
Stick head out of window to pull out object blocking door
Even if they managed to pull it off (spoiler: they won't), it would be a broken mess. A lot of the puzzles involve using both hands in conjunction with one another, and hell, even simple things like reloading and picking things up are minigames within themselves utilizing certain hand motions.
The cool feature of the game is VR.
If you remove VR, that leaves not much out of it.
>playing game designed for vr for with mouse and keyboard
Its the same as playing fucking cs with controller. Pure retardation.
Absolutely based.
You already paid $1060, and so did 40k people, the game doesnt have to be good.
PIRATE BROS WHERE WE AT, THANKS FOR THE FREE COPY GABEN
Maybe, but it doesnt cost me $1000, also .
Still waiting for an argument.
Rotate a holographic globe with one hand while you maneuver an icon along its surface with the other hand, trying to avoid little red "mines" along the way. It requires both hands working independently of one another.
It doesnt cost you 1K because you are not getting the same value.
>Still waiting for an argument.
I'm not trying to argue, I was asking a question
I don't have VR but some are shown even in the trailers.

Your best bet would be two using two mice but even then I doubt it'd much fun.
No, you got it wrong. Alyx was really good, it's the 2d port that was bad.
Rotate with mouse, move with WASD.
Wow. So advanced.
It's posts like this that let you know this user has never played VR in his life.
Half life alyx without VR would just be an "ok" shooter, the majority of the appeal is being immersed in the half life universe
If you want it in 2d just watch a lets play, you'll get the same experience.
cope vrcuck
the game isn't good to begin with
There are lots of puzzles where you need both hands, not just the holo ones but also situations where you need to hold something open with one hand and reach in
More generally I would REALLY not want to play through Jeff without fine motor control, or disarm trip mines, there are situations where you really don't want to be sloppy. Nothing in HL2 required that kind of precision
Nah, I've played BotW on emulator and gyro shit is aids on keyboard mouse.
this desu
bhopping through maps btfoing all the zombies and soldiers is only so much fun
based and tim pilled
>disarm trip mines
Oh fuck that would be impossible in pancake mode
That shit is like surgery
I mean, if you want to play a gimped out, non-functioning version of the game, and then bitch about how it sucks, be my guest.
I wonder then if the mod will be more of a 2D localisation, rather than a straight up port.
GUNS WORK NOW
It will have to be.
The truth is that there will never be a 1:1 port to 2D.
If its being modded then that is what will happen. We already have a straight port if we just use launch commands.
So if the game becomes bad without VR, does that mean the game is just bad gimmick shit to begin with? I find it hard to call a game good if the only reason you got is that you have is two wii remotes and a screen to your face.
Dont even think you could bhop, unless there was a hidden run button walking in the game is glacially slow, and teleport moving would be so weird outside of vr (it's weird in VR too tbf)
I think it's amusing anyone would value their time so little that they'd play something so janky as this
Like we live in a world with mile long backlogs of games that were made for 2D, infinite entertainment at your fingertips. Why obsess over this one to the point you'd play a lobotomized version of it
Be my guest though
Kind of?, It would be like playing Metroid Prime 3 on Gamecube again like MP1 and MP2. You can't easily play Wii games with a Gamecube controller.
arent they just porting maps into source?
Just take the L, 2D poorfags.
the other side of your criteria pretty much says games are good when they have good shooting in them. if I took all the kung-fu out of F.E.A.R. it would be a significantly worse game, too.
Oh is that what they are doing? That's pretty neat then
its still going to be boring but at least movement will feel better
I don't think so. Games don't translate across genres if they're fully specialized to that particular genre. A good side scroller wouldn't translate to a good VR game for example.
Not really. I usually don't even use melee in FEAR. If a game has to rely on a screen attached to your face and Wii remotes to be good, I have a really hard time imaging that the base game was actually good.
Speaking of, FEAR in true VR (Not VorpX) would be pretty funny to watch as people kick their sofa.
IMAGINE SEETHING POORFAGS PLAYING THIS AFWUL PORT ON THEIR TINY MONITORS DESPITE SHITTING ON IT FEW DAY AGO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
>"e to pull this or that lever" or "carry this crate over here?"
You should at least pretend to have watched someone play the game, because you clearly have no idea of what you're talking about
KEK
then that's just your own biases against VR experience. I'm more open minded about this and don't write a game off as a gimmick if it wants to incorporate movement and VR tech. I don't think that's a reasonable bias.
No, it means it was designed for VR and things that work in a fun way in vr just arent fun on flat displays. I have more fun playing with physics and using the gravity gloves in alyx than I do in intense firefights in most flat games. The firefights in vr are on a different level than flat games, it's just too much fun.
>You should at least pretend to have watched someone play the game, because you clearly have no idea of what you're talking about
Well, since you have or even played it yourself, you can surely tell me about it.
Im all ears.
Why can't a game be good with and without a controller gimmick?
>you clearly have no idea of what you're talking about
I thought I made that clear in my first post that I haven't played the game and wanted clarification.
obviously. it wasn't good as a VR game either.
>can't be immersed in a game unless it's VR
cope
how is it useful at all. he's using dev tools to view models, anyone can do this. you people are such retards.
A game can be good with and without a controller gimmick, what do you mean? Do you mean to ask, why can't one game be good played in VR and not in VR?
This is running off of Source 2. Apparently the game has a 2D mode, probably so the developers can test stuff out really quickly in-engine.
How much it can be modded to be an actual campaign? I dunno. Will it be fun in flatscreen? I dunno.
Are we going to be able to operate hammer from within VR
If there can be a game that can be good with or without the VR gimmick, what would that imply about Alyx which entirely relies on the VR gimmick to be considered good?
look man, try playing HL2 on an SNES controller
you *can*, and if you heavily mod it to compensate it can be playable even. But do you *actually* want to tho.
