It was too early. We just didn't and still don't have the range of games that can allow the majority of gamers to move fully beyond the precision of controller-based controls. Even a lot of Wii games didn't really have good implementation of the waggle.

God 2020 is rough. We REALLY need a direct.

That's literally what they are doing. In hindsight it was kind of smart for them to nuke the Wii U and introduce a new console at the tailend of the gen because now they're on a different schedule from Snoy and Microsoft who are still slamming their dicks in competition with each other. Nintendo is gonna let PS5 and new Xbone blow their loads in previews this year and absolutely next year we will see Switch 2, or at least the N3DS version of Switch.

I have Dreams and Nioh 2 right now. I already played Patapon, and I bought the Gravity Rush series on sale in January. I will be playing P5R next week, and FFVIIR the week after. Not to mention REmake 3, Ghost of Tsushima.
The PS4 is a great platform for year-round releases. The Switch isn't, as you have one exclusive game, a bunch of shovelware, and no date for a single game that is supposed to be releasing this year. Not to mention, Nintendo is perfectly content with drip-feeding content to their users in games like AC, and their release schedule is fucked. The Switch has the best launch year a console has ever had, but the praise stops there.

Because I can. Example: If I wanted to, I could buy and play Doom Eternal right now. You can't on Switch. I can play Devil May Cry, REmake 2, Sekiro, NieR Automata and Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind on PS4. You can't on Switch. You have exclusives and shovelware. That's it.

But the PS4, aside from capcom titles, usually plays those titles at inconsistent FPS targeting 30 FPS at low fidelity, and the pro model usually hovers at 50-60 FPS with marginal fidelity changes. Meanwhile my 7 year old PC runs those games at medium - high at 60 FPS locked at 1080p.

All the 2D indies generally play much better on a small screen, and I haven’t had a game on PS4 that can match fire emblem 3 houses pound for pound for content nor quality as far as strategy goes. Agree 100%. I still remember when I first bought my ps3 thinking about all the hours fun that were awaiting me. But now, I realized it was one of the worst purchases of my life. Very few good games at all, mostly were just ps2 remasters or multiplatforn that could be played everywhere else. In the end I ended up spending more time playing ps2 and ps1 classics from the psn rather than actual ps3 games.

Almost all multiplats on switch (ie non idtech and non capcom) run like ass and at lower fidelity than on PC. Meanwhile all the switch exclusives aside from maybe Astral chain look great on their small screen and are all universally lauded for their gameplay and art direction. The switch isn’t going for power - it’s literally a handheld that’s not competing with PS4 or pc. It’s a handheld you get with your main machine since no other machine has the killer apps that scratch the same itch

Bloodborne is the best game I have played in over 15 years, and you can only get the full experience on PS4; the last game that was that good was MGS2. Gravity Rush 2 is an amazing sequel and the most unique platformer out there right now. The Last Guardian was an absolutely beautiful game and I love that the trophies galvanize players to "speedrun" it. NieR Automata began as PS4 exclusive, and was a timed exclusive. So was Nioh, and they were both amazing.
I don't have much to say for the PS3, as I think the only real winners of that gen were games like AssCreed 2, MGS4, New Vegas, and NieR. Worst gen for gaming IMO. But the PS4 brought it back to PS2 levels for me. Furi was a free download and was first on PS4. Same with Let It Die.
