it's nice that it washed the taste of shit out of my mouth after fates but it still could have been better. it was much more thought out at least, besides edelgard's route and GD being a copy paste of church route.
Arguably more content in one game of Fates than the entirety of 3H
Fun game overall. Writing wasn't amazing, but still a massive improvement over the literal garbage heap that was Fates, though gameplay didn't reach Conquest level. Feels good to actually see a Fire Emblem with worldbuilding again Unfortunately the game really needed more time, or at least one less route. They clearly couldn't handle the workload they put on themselves.
3 houses would've been improved massivly if they invested all their time into the one route they seemed to have actually given a shit about which is BL

It was fun and I liked the characters and supports more than I did for either Fates or Awakening, but I kind of hope they go back to a more traditional FE game for the next installment. The school stuff was nice for a change of pace, but I wouldn't want the entire series to consist of it.
The GBA FE games were the best and I miss them.

I do prefer when FE has limitations. 3H was good and the insane class flexibility was fun in some regards, but still. I hope the next entry goes back to that.

As a whole I think the game is good & has more merits than it does flaws. It's amazing on the first play-through & (depends on the person) pretty good to ok on the second & then it just kinda falls apart. The game just has minimal to no re-playability. The monastery becomes obnoxious on subsequent runs. & yes I know you can skip it but it's extremely unoptimal to skip & you're actively put at a disadvantage for not doing it (It's near impossible to raise Byleth's weapons ranks w/o doing monastery training). & there's alot more I could complain about but the last point I'll bring up here is just reusing maps in different routes, ALL THE FUCKING TIME. It just really doesn't help on a re-playability factor.

sorry to hear that you're basing your ideals of this entire franchise which has existed for like 30 years on two or so SNES games
I question if that's true. I recall someone datamined the game and the data relating to the BL characters/route seems to have been added to the game first. Perhaps SS was planned first but I think in reality BL was likely developed first and had the most time put into it. I really don't see how it can be otherwise considering Part 1 really just seems to be written for the BL perspective because everything that happens in it is to do with BL characters/faerghus. No effort seems to have been made for the other houses, who seem largely to get thrown a completely separate pulled out of their ass plotline with the Slithers to justify their existence.

Did you forget all Three Houses maps have a lot of details? Just zoom in a random map and you'll see IS made a massive effort there.
Did you not play any of the paralogues? Almost all of them have varying objectives or at least side objectives that need you to play differently.
Is seize rout?
Kind of hated it. Tried too hard to get sympathy for the obvious villain and failed, wasted too much time on frivolous dating sim elements and most maps were a boring slog.
In hindsight starting my first playthrough on maddening was not great either, too many "gotcha" moments where the game is clearly not designed around you doing that, going on church route and getting a bunch of unleveled retards come in as "reinforcements" that were more of a liability than anything else was terrible design.

If it wasn't like that, every single map in FE would end in two turns like FFT and TO because mobile bosses are far too powerful too be left alone while you focus on their units. That's what separates FE from other SRPG's, the objectives are location based (defend, sieze, escape, defeat stationary boss that's usually at the other end of the map) rather than combat based (rout, kill moving boss/bosses)
