Yeah I would love for this to get the remake treatment. The original is pretty flawed so it would be a great opportunity to try and fix some of its issues. This is the last REmake I would want though. 4,5 and 6 don’t need to be remade. Outbreak games might be cool but I would rather just get Outbreak 3 instead.

The saving grace of that game is how you can wipe out just about every enemy with the knife since it hits a dozen times per swing, otherwise it's back and forth with constantly respawning enemies through some of the worst early 3d enviroments I've seen, gray box rooms ahoy.

The sequence of events and motivations for the characters are both pretty contrived, but I haven't played it in 15 years so maybe it's more salvageable than I remember.

Why are they so afraid to make the knife good? It was great in CV but you couldn't take on groups with it and it was better to down enemies before using it to get the full effect of the multi hits.

Code Veronica was the worst of the series before 4 changed things around, so yes, absolutely.
I actually really enjoyed my time with the game, but everything about it was a "So-bad-it's-good" type of thing. Level design was awful, enemy placement and design awful, and obviously the cutscenes are amusing because they're so fucking out there.
Of all the REs, besides 1, CV needs a remake the most, and I hope they do it and then fucking stop spending the resources remaking RE games and revive Dino Crisis.

They port it to everything under the sun, it's not like remaking it would undo anything about it. Remaking 4 more in the image of a classic RE with a proper map structure and item distribution, maybe even take ideas from 3.5. It'd work.

It's not so much the models as the englne and lighting that gives them this glassy-eyed look in a lot of shots.
What would they do other than remake CV or 4 (ignoring the possibility of 8)? Would they ever make another game numbered 4 completely unrelated to the events of the original, or would they start doing subtitled games instead?
The problem with 7, 8, and onward is that the RE universe is such a complete mess now. I don't see why anyone would want to work with that instead of just staying in the rebooted timeline. All villains are dead afaik, and all the mainstay characters have already been introduced in 1, 2, 3.
re7 didn't use any of the main cast of characters or villains and it was decent. basically just do that again, but add more enemy variety, put it in a new cool setting, maybe even play as some of the underused characters like Rebecca/jake/sherry/billy
