Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Nioh are too janky to be fair games. Characters clip through objects and everything's hitboxes are never that accurate.

I fully agree with you. I can see why people really like it, but if you don't got in completely blind, I think a lot of the game's charm may be lost on you. I just found myself constantly frustrated by the game's controls.

JRPGs are best when they're about good ol' fashion combat and exploration. Stories and characters are generally unimportant

Controllers are better than keyboard and mouse for platformers, side scrollers and gameplay that heavily involves jumping.
KB+M are still superior for shooters though.
