also on og xbox, if you didnt have a pc there was always Morrowind. Xbox and Xbox360 era, if you wanted to have any sort of serious only multiplayer experience Xbox live was it. ps2/3 sony even publicly said they were single player focused... and its services and fanbases demonstrated as much.
