Outer Worlds false advertisement

>from the developers of New Vegas
No it wasn't. Pretty much every key developer of New Vegas has left the company. None of the writers of Outer Worlds worked on New Vegas. "From the developers of Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny" would have been accurate. Why are video games the only medium where you can get away with blatant false advertising like this?

Would be more interesting if you gave the name of every dev that worked on new vegas and every dev that worked on outer world

Did this game succeed?
I swear just seeing the trailer was enough for me to know it was a terrible game.
I didnt even bother pirating it to try it out.
Hell, You'd have to at least pay me minimum wage to give it a go.

Wow hello 2018 talking points.

I miss waiting for this game.

The devs said they sold more than 2 million units. I don't know if that was enough or not to turn a profit, but the game looked really low budget and trash so I'd be surprised if they didn't.

probably made up any losses with the Xbox game pass.
The game wasn't bad, just painfully average. Even normies were calling it bland.

>all this cope
Just admit you're too stupid for the game and move on, kid.

>tfw want to play it but have to wait for it to be available on steam because I refuse to use Epic

Shit game, will not be buying anything from them again.

Got it for free with my CPU purchase and I still feel ripped off.

because it's the same company durrrrr

It's really not worth the wait.

>supposed to be satire on corporations
>Dude! "Healthy" is just a spook!
>Dude! Company slogans instead of greetings!
>Haha, pay corpse tax (the quest I somehow managed to miss)
>vast majority of characters are cardboard cutouts
>still buggy
I think this is Obsidian showing its true colors.

Same. I got 3700X, which one did you get?

It's kinda sad if you believe this pile of trash to be average.

Worst thing is that they can get away this shit. The only thing it had in common with NV is that it is in first person and that's fucking it.

3600x, it was this or borderlands 3 which I already had

>he baught this game
hahahhahah
I mean if you hated it how did you not see it coming from the trailers and gameplay footage?

>"Hey remember this game? i created it"
>"Now buy this game cause i created a good game years ago"

it was a decent game, it was a bit shallow, but still deeper than any other "rpg" that gets churned out these days.
The first planet was legit amazing, the second one still kinda ok, but Byzantium felt rushed, the board was way too cartoonish evil and the "retirement" quest didn't go anywhere.

I'm curious about dlcs or sequels, with some extra stuff it can turn into a good rpg

All AAA games frontload cause they know most of their players will not get to late game anyway.

Game so aggressively mediocre and forgettable it doesn't even get its own hate threads.

Switch release was delayed by the Kung flu

People who worked on both New Vegas and Outer Worlds:
>Josh Sawyer, Director
>Brian Menze, Concept Artist
>Daniel Alpert, Character Artist (NV), Art Director (OW)
>Sean Dunny, Environmental Artist
>James Melilli, Visual Effects Artist
>Denise McMurry, World Builder (NV), Area Designer (OW)
>Sydney Wolfram, World Builder (NV), Area Designer (OW)
>Shon Stewart, Animator (NV), Lead Animator (OW)
>Seth McCaughey, Animator
>Anthony Rogers, Technical Character Artist
>Justin Bell, Sound Designer (NV), Audio Lead (OW)
>Charles Staples, Area Design Lead (NV), Design Director (OW)
>Jesse Farrell, Area Designer
>Robert Lee, Area Designer
That's very little when you consider 70 people worked on New Vegas and 135 on The Outer Worlds

You're not missing anything. That shit is short, and filled with rick and morty tier plebit humor

Epicbucks. Sold okay, probably got profit.

no, i don't think they frontloaded for that,it feels more that they just ran out of budget and/or time. Byzantium feels like there was supposed to be so much more. Also it's not a tripleA game.

it sold rather well and you should at least try it, especially if you hate the direction bethesda fallout took

>Why are video games the only medium where you can get away with blatant false advertising like this?
It used to be a big thing in films too, though I haven't noticed it as much lately. You'd often see things like "From the studio that brought you Star Wars..." and what that would actually mean is that some of the guys who did some SFX work for Star Wars also did some SFX work for this films. Sometimes I've seen it done in reference to the production or distribution companies who contribute fucking nothing except financing and logistics. It's equivalent to EA sticking "From the studio that brought you Mass Effect..." on all the games they release regardless of whether they were made by Bioware or not.

New Vegas shits all over this game.

Combat doesn't feel nearly as good
Setting is cool but poorly executed
Factions are a joke
and the science weapons all suck shit through a mcdonalds straw
>we got this stick that morphs the npc's face haha
>shrink ray that lasts about 5 seconds before the npc/creature reverts back to normal
And don't tell me mods, because if I'm doing mods I'll just play NV and have a way better time

can't believe how hard they dropped the ball

can someone post gameplay webms of this game?

It's funny because the only guy still at Obsidian who worked on New Vegas is Sawyer, and he didn't work on TOW.
iirc he's only listed as an office director in the credits

So, art, animation and sound, that really not the best parts of NV

Just pirate it bro

Just marketing, I think they released that trailer like 4 days after Fallout 76.

Josh Sawyer already admitted he did jackshit on Outer Worlds, mostly some advice and a bit of balancing.

>70 people worked on NV and 135 worked on TOW
Then how does TOW have such little content in comparison? How bizarre.

don't even pirate it
it's the biggest waste of time i can remember from the past few years
and that's despite the fact that it's uncharacteristically short for an RPG

microsoft bought it so yes

I’m playing it right now. I’m having some fun but it’s mostly okay. I’m just mad it was sold as New Vegas meets KOTOR but it’s really just Fallout 4.

Same name above the door, that's all that matters in legal terms

Game Pass is $5 a month you mongoloid.

"From the original creators of Fallout" is complete distilled unadulterated bullshit.
Age of Decadence and Underrail are better Fallout games than anything Obsidian has ever made.

get your facts straight
microsoft didn't buy it
obsidian sold themselves to microsoft after deadfire flopped, but by that time they already had a contract for TOW with Private Division
the ant royale RPG will be their first game under microsoft

>Age of Decadence

My nigrod

It was extremely low budget. If they sold 2m then they most certainly made a massive profit.

35 devs and 100 community managers is my guess

isn't Tim Cain at Obsidian still?
his fat faggot face was the icon for the Fallout .exe

Succeeded by itself? Probably not
However Obsidian received Sweeney bucks and I swear 80% of the people who have a copy got it for free with their graphics card so that smells of a nice fat partnership.

Because New Vegas recycled about 85% of its assets from Fallout 3

Much of NV's stuff came from Bethesda. TOW was made from scratch.

Was it ever finished. I was told to play Kenshi instead.

For a long ass time now, user. You're like five years too late. It's badly designed though. Straight up boomer-core gameplay.

Who gives a fuck. Game's long forgotten.

i suspect the 2 million figure they tout includes copies sold through the Xbox Game Pass, since it was available on release
then again, the entire games media pretended TOW is like New Vegas but better, so i wouldn't be surprised if it actually sold well
seriously, reading reviews after having played the game made me question my sanity
the disparity between what i played and what journalists claimed the game was worse than in the case of Dragon Age II

I've played it for about 40hrs or so, over 2 characters. The first playthrough was pretty fun. I was actually excited to play every time i had the chance. the 2nd playthrough all the cracks showed themselves and i rushed through it doing the dumb playthrough and it was pretty wank. Played it on gamepass so I definitely got my money's worth. Probably wouldn't feel too bad if I paid 30-40 for it. $60 is too much though. Hope they made enough money to get a huge sequel the greenlight. It has potential I think.

When was the last time you asked? They even released an spin off since then. Go play it, it's in bundles all the time at Fanatical if you want to buy it for cheap.

Maybe, but the game went on sale immediately after release and you also have to realize that Obsidian doesn't get all of that money to begin with since tons of it goes to retailers.

That's a good thing in my book, fuck Bioware.
Also I wonder what you would say about something like Wizardry 6 which involves drawing your own map, reading a manual, making a spreadsheet to plan your party and tough as nails gameplay.

Mods for this game aren't even worth it/exist

and it wasn't an indie release either

>NVfags realizing the framework and basis established by fallout 3 were absolutely essential to NV turning out how it did
ya know what they say, fallout 3 is better than you think

you couldn't pay me to pay this game a second time
fucking Disco Elysium was a better experience

>nearly double the staff
>still made a worse game then nuVegas, a already shitty unfinished game

We can't stop winning epic bros :^)

That's fine. I play wizardry clones from japan all the time. Age of Decadence, with regards to character progression, needs the player to have Elrond's gift of foresight to move forward. It's either that or save skillpoints for later use then when you fail a check, reload a save and use them to pass. Experimenting with builds is suicidal unless you use a FAQ. That isn't good gameplay. That's just going through the motions with extra steps.
