Install the mod that removes Mr. X to make the game actually playable and fun.

If you've played the classic games you should have no trouble with the new style, even if it is pretty different and has a lot more going on and more variables it has the same core.

Dont bother trying to kill zombies, just dismember them and the knife is actually good for that once u get em down with your gun first, saves u a lot of ammo

Play it on regular difficulty because hard mode forces you to use the dreaded Ink Ribbon system.

look up all the combination lock codes beforehand and save yourself an hour or so in backtracking. and shotguns don't automatically behead zombies like other games in the series, so save those for the bigger boys down the line.

The only time he's a "problem" is in the library when you have to move the shelves.

Play it on hard mode because regular difficulty is for pussies who can't manage their ribbons

>gee how do I stop Mr. X when I'm in the library
>could I use foresight and move the shelves as much as I can beforehand
>could I slow him down with a flashbang or just run into the second floor east, go down through the first floor east, and then go back into the main hall and up to the library again so I can lose him and by myself some time?
>nah I think I'll just fucking delete him from the game because I'm a massive retard
What year did Yas Forums become full of fucking retards?

cringe

what year was Yas Forums made again?

>I enjoy having my time wasted so I can meme about being hard on the internet

Leon's route is easier

These, my friends, these are the people that argue with you and try to give serious opinions about videogames right here on this fucking board.

Correction: When did Yas Forums become full of fucking casuals? Hasn't Yas Forums been circle jerking to Dark Souls and telling people who are bad at video games to git gud since DS came out?

I thought the grenade Launcher was easy mode

ok baby dick

This is really one of my big complaints about the game. There are so many combination locks, and the good items are in them. The first game had one combination lock, I don't know why we needed 20 more.

>I enjoy having things handed to me on a silver platter and having no difficulty in my games or any effort required in my games

There are only three times to save, nigger. Before the first boss, before the second boss, and before the third boss. Congratulations. You now know the basic strat to beat the game in under 3 hours on Hardcore with relative ease.

>I don't enjoy playing resident evil how intended
you just should have said so

install all nude mods for claire and fap all day instead

1. Play on normal
2. Don't be a faggot
3. Don't listen or read anything else its spoilers

And specially keep away from retard zoomer comments like this

Lmfao this nigga finna be dabbed on.

That thing felt like fucking cheating, it's hitkill on lickers and those plant zombies and on the first-to-last boss you can just keep spamming it to paralyze him as you hit him with the mac-10. Oh, and the mac-10 is also OP as fuck

Depends. The Grenade Launcher makes combatting Lickers and the first two Birkin fights relatively easy. The magnum makes Birkin 3 and the Birkin 5 bosses fucking trivial compared to Claire's GL or SMG. I'd say the only time the GL beats the shotgun or magnum is when you're in the sewers and you have the G creatures. It's much more of a pain in the ass for Leon to deal with them, so I always save my hand grenades and my flash grenades for the gauntlet where you run past 3 G creatures, get the plugs, then run out past 1 more G creature. The only time Claire's SMG really shines is when you use it during her Birkin 4 fight incredibly easy. If you save all the SMG ammo in the game, it's as simple as dumping all that ammo into him (plus some minigun ammo) because it's not about how much damage you do to him as much as it is just how many times you hit him.

It's the best RE game OP. Just remember to have fun and play on hardcore.

Fuck the forgotten soldier mission. That is beyond artificial difficulty. Whoever put that G virus faggot next to the train, Fuck you! The "no way out is so much easier by comparison.

Is the Mac-10 really that good? I'd only ever seen it used on the Birkin 4 fight on the train elevator.

When the fuck did this board get so infested with fucking crybaby faggots who can't handle a challenging game? For fucks sake, i can comprehend being a little dumb and playing on easy but suggesting literally cheating is spoiled 7 year old brat tier.
Fuck off and go play your shitty soi-riddled movie games made for retards and leave Resident Evil to the non-casuals, niggers.

make sure to aim the reticule at the zombie until it contracts into a small dot , then fire the shot for maximum damage.

It makes the standard zombies literally non-threatening, you can just fire a burst of rounds at their kneecaps and drop them every time. And you can also get hundreds (maybe even 4 digits) of rounds for it pretty fucking easily.

Hey, retard, I'm and this entire thread, I've been shitting on zoomies who can't handle Mr. X or Hardcore mode. Get your shit together, you stupid fucking nigger. It's a fucking speedrun game. The puzzles aren't challenging, they're just tedious and time consuming you stupid faggot. "Lemme backtrack 3 times to get the lab codes to unlock one room in the fucking underground so I can freeze the anti-plant serum. Durrr." You're a mega nigger if you care that much about RE puzzles since they've become easy as shit.

the upgrade for the MQ-10 in the STARS badge case in the RPD->Sewers stairwell adds like 25% damager per bullet in a bullet hose, it's insane
In general max out weapon upgrades unless you got a specific run going on.
Also makes Claire 2nd a breeze when you can drop the SLS and immediately grab both the MQ-10 and that upgrade before 1st boss.

Play on hardcore. Standard mode has bullshit "ADAPTIVE DIFFICULTY" that fucks around with the game's damage values the whole time without telling you, you could be playing on easy or hard or fuckhard and not even know about it.
Also, hardcore it's the way the game was intended to be played.

I've beaten this game about 15 times and never known how good this weapon is. Holy shit.
I knew grabbing the Magnum on Leon 2nd before the first boss made that the easiest fucking fight in the world, but holy shit. Will try on my next run bros. Big thanks.

Standard can get worse than hardcore? I know people said the bosses become easier by storing ammo since they are literally just there to eat your inventory

this isn't really good advice from a speedrunner perspective

Firstly: you have to NOT MOVE THE CURSOR to tighten, but movement is actually ok
the problem is holding but moving the cursor doesn't let it tighten, and moving after it has tightened is OK
Pro: You greatly increase the chance for a CRIT shot, not damage
Con: Taking your time like this actually endangers you in most encounters since they're tight spaces and most enemies take good advantage of time to live.

I was going to meme post about this as a tip:

Children aim for the head because zombie tropes, and blow all their ammo going for decapitations.
Rookies aim for the knees because a zombie on the floor can't move very well.
Pros aim for the head because headshots have a good stun rate and you only need usually one shot to sprint right through them

This should save a lot of ammo, keeping in mind you also get a lot of healing items which you can use to push through crowds with the odd bite and follow up invulnerability. And the infinite knife lets you get a hell of a lot more ammo.

The difficulty fluctuates a fuckload on standard. If you're doing good, not expending lots of ammo/taking hits, they ramp up the zombie difficult. It's Adaptive Difficulty and it's be in the game since 4, I believe. It goes from a scale of 1-10 or 1-9 I think. One of those. If you're doing good on Standard, it ramps up slowly from like a 4 to a 5 to a 6 to a 7, etc... I think it caps out at 8 on those difficulties. Speedruners run RE4 and other RE games with Adaptive Difficulty on the hardest difficulty for this reason to keep the game and AI more consistent.

TL;DR don't do so good that you get your asshole blasted out of fucking nowhere.

>It's a fucking speedrun game
That doesn't mean you should try to be beating world records for finishing autistically fast on your first time playing, goddammit. Also, the game was MADE with the whole "going back to places you've been before" thing in mind. You're not supposed to simply stun the zombies and run past them and never see them again, they're supposed to keep being a threat you have to deal with. You can argue all you want about how your ADHD doesn't let you go back in the map because "muh boring i wanna finish fast", but you're unironically defending changing the way the game was intended to be experienced for your own benefit. You're no different from "muh remove mr. X" fags.

It's like those women who don't like to watch movies without looking out the entire plot on wikipedia as they do it.

RE4 has it so you get more drops when your attache case is light so you never wind up resorting to knife only runs from RNG (because enemies spawn in droves and levels aren't complicated enough to risk/reward a pile of say 30 handgun bullets in a corner with a zombie waiting)
RE2make is pretty much just "how fast are you going?", because if you're going for less than S rank, just continue if you die and you get to the end having a time enjoying the ride.
If you are going for S rank, you're going to get max difficulty anyway, so this is irrelevant.

The main difference is early on the difficulty lets you decap zombies with pistol shots before you get any gear. Hardcore starts with them soaking them, but if you're playing hardcore you should know how to knife only in theory at least and just fucking slalom sprint through everything.

don't fear Mr. X, he's SUPER dumb and very easy to avoid.

what would hardcore be on that scale? 11?

>if you're playing hardcore you should know how to knife only in theory at least and just fucking slalom sprint through everything.
I never did this and the game never incentivizes you to go that retarded fast. Even the hardest in-game challenge, S+ on Hardcore, gives you plenty of time to kill any zombie you're going to have trouble with if left alive

>S+ on hardcore
>2h30m
>plenty of time
nah mate, dodging, using cheat sheets and getting optional weapons to mag dump the boss cuts it close to minutes from losing S
the game very strongly incentivises you to do that especially since it unintuitively keeps your run time persistent when you reload your save but only when dead for some reason.

Don't be afraid to play on standard at first, getting an s=s+ is just a matter of memorizing codes, and knowing how to route, don't let Mr.X freak you out you can out walk him sometiems if you absolutely have to.

don't be afraid to die

>Don't be afraid to play on standard at first
Wait, wait a second, are you implying that the norm would be somehow to play a game on easy and playing on a normal setting would be something people must be "afraid" of?

Jesus christ

>look up all the combination lock codes beforehand and save yourself an hour or so in backtracking. and shotguns don't automatically behead zombies like other games in the series, so save those for the bigger boys down the line.
You are playing the game wrong, shotguns do automatically behead zombies, but only within a certain range, you just need to get good at gauging the range, the longbarrel and stock extend that range.

>using shottie on bosses
NEVER WRONG NO NO STOP
shotty is for e-z zombie kills and sometimes kills on shit like those sewer fuckers. Your'e better off just dodging through most of them though or just nading one or two with defense items.
take the tiem to learn how to kill birkin with a knife in fight one, it sounds stupid but it's the best way to kill the fucker, otherwise you'll be ammo starved after that point. Don't use teh flamethrower willy nilly, that thing is your boss/special killer try to dodge big boys though if you can.

Shotgun will unfuck zombies in areas you need to be.

Well I always knife G1 and I don't waste time picking up the Magnum (you really don't need it). Of course you should have a cheat sheet on hand though. I did it with 30 minutes to spare and I'm not even that good at the game

Some people think that they're not a bad ass gamer if they don't beat it on hardcore first try with s ranks, which will absolutely kill your desire to play the game. Standard should be first, hardcore next, otherwise you just get annoyed at the mechanics instead of learning them.

assisted is only if you piss your pants when Mr.X shows up and you need to get used to him.

good bait

It's plenty of time on a scenario, because cheat sheet+ routing cuts half the game, and they give you generous extra time for the opening.

B scenario is a bit worse because they cut the extra padded time so you really got to book it, fucking up twice was almost enough to cost me the S+, where a scenario I had like 20-30 to spare.

don't panic around lickers. just walk by them and don't touch them. i think only one is scripted to lunge at you and thats in Claires campaign after you get the key from the morgue (its on the ceiling around the corner just out of the kennel)

don't move while aiming and go for the head

i think the one on the 3rd floor after you blow up the C4 always attacks you, too

oh ya, forgot about that one

I literally cannot play this game for more than an hour at a time without getting a heart attack, shit's scary

No, that one only spots you if you brush his head, you can walk by on his right hand side.
This one, the one in the glass room, and the one in b scenario after the jewel are the only ones, and you can absolutely dodge two of them easy, puzzle room requires a flash or a nade stun.
