Is Sonic Generations as good as people say?
Is Sonic Generations as good as people say?
Yes. Find out for yourself, by yourself faggot.
Who says it's good?
Yep. Played the first 2 stages again a week ago after not playing for years and it was as fun as ever
Only the classic Sonic parts are good
Modern Sonic stages suck
>Chemical Plant
>Rooftop Run
>Fixed Crisis City
This game is boring as fuck. Classic Sonic has shit physics and Modern Sonic awful Boostshit with even more unnecessary 2D sections.
Modern stages are great
Classic stages you just get through to play modern stages
For a "boost" sonic game, it's about as good as it gets, on a whole.
It's slightly better than Unleashed, since it's down bogged down by the night mode missions as Werehog, and a bit better than the Sonic Advance trilogy, IMO, although the Sonic Advance trilogy are still worth replaying.
>all of the DC era stages
>no Adventure Sonic with his own stages
One of the only blemishes. I would have loved some stages based on other games - the pinball DLC should have been Toxic Caves instead of Casino Night. And the 3DS version sucked dog dick.
It's good, but not that good. Last boss is so bad it knocks it down a peg. Classic Sonic is too floaty? The rest of the bosses were fine though
Why weren’t Sonic’s stages fully 3D? It makes Classic Sonic’s stages feel redundant if modern Sonic also goes 2D.
He was planned, but they needed it out for the anniversary so it was cut.
The Boost stages would probably be too short without them. Making fully 3D Boost stages without shitty gimmicks and play styles requires too many resources.
Everything about it sucks. Sonic Unleashed was better.
>inb4 werehog
Werehog ruins the game, you fucking clown.
desu boost sonic doesnt work with just 3D and I honestly cant believe people have an issue with it breaking up the monotony of 3D gameply for a bit of platforming (a bit, unlike colors )
I've been replaying it recently and once you upgrade the werehog's combat skills it really opens up and allows for a lot of creativity. The inital stages are much slower but I fucking love the Werehog's gameplay once you've got a lot of attack chains.
Hell Sho-hog-ken is useful for getting higher than your double jump and allows for a number of level skips, learning all the different skills and how to implement them into yourcombo is actually really fun especially when you realize how good certain combos work together like the drill drive(Dash+jump+Y) to spin kick(XYY), to drop kick(YYXXX), or Missile Punch(Hold Y) to claw rush(Dash+Y) to the spin attack(XXYYY) or the Clap(XXXYY)
It's actually insanely versatile if you're willing to learn.
>dude just ignore half of Unleashed and it's good lmao
What the FUCK does any of that have to do with going fast
The Werehog was never that bad, his levels just went on too long.
Sonic was never just about going fast
I play Sonic games to play as Sonic though, not some kind of bargain bin DMC. If I wanted an action game with a complex battle system I'd play a game that was actually fully focused and committed to that style of gameplay.
You're right, it was also about precision platforming and using momentum to your advantage.
What in the fuck does memorizing fighting game inputs have to do with any of that
It was surprisingly decent. It's still cancerous modern 3D sonic and soulless modern 2D sonic but it's by far the best rendition of modern sonics.
>I play Sonic games to play as Sonic though
But it is Sonic, he's just in a new form :)
Seriously, fuck 06 for removing Sonic Team's balls, they're scared shitless of letting us play as any other characters to where we've had more alternate forms of Sonic playable than other characters since 06
I got it with games with gold and I like it so far. It’s free, what do you have to lose?
I'll definitely give you that, EXCEPT for Eggmanland just because I have to appreciate making the stage that long as it's Eggman FINALLY after all those years getting to build his ultimate challenge for Sonic to bypass. I just have to respect making it an insanely long and challenging stage. The rest I can agree to though learning a few skips here and there does make things feel a little better. Mazuri for example allows you to skip a few blockpushing puzzles since the uppercut goes that much higher than your double jump.
>marble zone
>labyrinth zone
>hilltop zone
>sky chase zone
>ice cap zone
>marble garden zone
>carnival night zone
>knuckles, big and E102 stages
>knuckles and tails stages
>team chaotix
>silver stages
What did they have to do with going fast?
Werehog has precision platforming and a lot of the unlockable combos allow you to use more aerial moves that let you skip sections and reach shortcuts.
I don't want other characters, or "friends", I just want a good Sonic game.
which version, console or 3DS?
All of Eggman Land was perfect and Egg Dragoon was one of the highlights of the entire series
It's shit like all games.
Everything. Do you think they gave Knuckles so much speed in the Adventure games because you were intended to take it slow?
The way Eggman seems like he’s losing it as the fight goes on is great, like this is his last stand.
The first time, yes. Not that fun to came back like in classic games. The 2.5 sections are mediocre and break the pace of the 3d sections
What's your favorite level and why is it City Escape Modern?
It's actually Seaside Hill Modern, but City Escape is a close second. I just like how open it is.
Why? Why do developers always cut out potentially amazing shit just to meet fucking deadlines? People would understand if a game needed to be delayed. Same shit happened with 06.
People wont bother to unlock werehog moves. many just throw points for speed as Sonic and call it a day.
>skip level parts
Yeah, I did that in sky scramper's something, the one part with the switch. You can bypass the fence by doing that.
You can go fast enough as werehog. But it seems people are dumb to ignore 2 things, 1) you can run like a wolf, 2) you can ignore many of the enemies.
Doing that I could do most levels in 8 minutes, except for rooftop night, that was a bit longer with a big platforming section in the clock.
You're a fucking god damned idiot.
There's also the fact certain skills can OHKO certain enemies for example the drill dash move kills the flowers in a single hit when you'd normally take maybe 4 and since it lasts long enough you can get 3 or 4 killed in one attack.
A lot was cut from Generations. Classic was gonna have Jaleel White as his VA but after a script change, Classic became mute, Ryan Drummond was called back to voice Dreamcast Sonic but none of his lines were used, the script was supposedly going to have more of an actual story than just "rescue sonic's friends and beat the big bad", A Wii, PSP and DS version of the game were planned, the 3DS version actually had 3D gameplay at some point but they went with just 2D to meet deadlines.
Modern is okay but classic w modern colors looks awesome.
That's just Nendoroid Sonic
>Classic Sonic is too floaty?
Sure, let's delude ourselves into thinking classic Sonic wasn't floaty at all.
Sonic Unleashed was great and werehog was more interesting than classic with superior exploration
>t. Didn't play the classics
he's more like Sonic Rush without the boost physics wise
City Escape is the only stage it ended up worse. For me; it's modern Rooftop Run
Unleashed is one of the greatest video games of all time desu. Unfortunately you need to have above an 70 IQ to realize this. Which is why your average Yas Forumstard doesn't like it
That's exactly why I said it, dipshit.
Get both if you can because they are both good.. 3ds game is 2d for classic and 2.5d for modern while the console version has proper 3d for modern sonic. They also use different stages with the only stage both versions have being green hill zone.
Seaside Hill modern is the best technically
But I like Sky Sanctuary the most. Also really like Green Hill Zone a lot.
One I like the least is Crisis City because I didnt play 06
Great game
Awesome soundtrack too
He said Classic Sonic WAS floaty though. Your interjection made no sense.
>drill
I liked that move. I know i didnt explored much of werehog's moveset, since it has a lot of combinations and moves, but I need to replay this again.
Does this game allow a 2nd savefile? Or is this like Rush? with single savefile?
Let me put it in words you can understand: Classic Sonic (Generations) was floaty. Actual Classic Sonic (Genesis) was floaty as well.
God, you're retarded.
He said GENERATIONS Classic Sonic was floaty, you fucking retard. The Genesis games never enter the conversation since he's talking about Generations and ONLY Generations. Stop posting.
his punches are fast
>He said GENERATIONS Classic Sonic was floaty, you fucking retard.
Yes, you fucking ilitarte. And since the original Sonic was floaty as well Generations' Sonic being floaty is not an issue as it was implicated.
Get yourself some reading comprehension on eBay.
I only liked the snowboard section, which reminds me, how it pisses me off Ice Cap wasnt in this.
Anyways, the moment you leave the "snowboard", the level itself feels a clusterfuck. Just feels odd to me, more when I loved SA2 version.
Favorite was Seaside Hill, not the Heroes stage I wanted(I wanted Hang Castle or Egg Fleet), but it was the most open branch stage of all, with multiple paths and the 2.5 sections were alright.
All of Genesis era was good, Crisis City was good(it should have been Kingdom Valley though), Speed Highway.. i prefer the Dreamcast version. Planet Wisp looked cool the first 10 seconds, then I started to hate it the longer it would go.
I prefered the Unleashed version, but the new version was good too.
It's the best modern sonic game, but that's not saying much
This but the opposite.
Favorite level was Roof Top Run or City Escape modern.
The classic era stages that were re-imagined as 3D were cool. The dreamcast era and modern era stages re-imagined as 2D were underwhelming.
Planet wisp is cool with sonic running through the teal grass and the music is nice. Most of planet wisp is in an ugly factory looking area.
>Doing that I could do most levels in 8 minutes
How in the fuck can you type that and think "yeah, that's fine for a Sonic game". Even the hunting stages in SA2 only took 2-3 minutes tops.
