I really like Running of the Bulb for it being the one time the players have to work together. Technically Key pa Way is also cooperative but it's over in less than 10 seconds and the player who starts with the key can almost always handle it themselves.
I love this mini-game. Did it ever return in a future title?
Did this shit give anyone else ptsd as a kid?
It was in Mario Party 2 but sadly I don't believe so.
this fucking shit
It blew my goddamn mind when I realized all the 4 of em have tells before choosing one to show how good they'll perform in the race.
>It blew my goddamn mind when I realized all the 4 of em have tells before choosing one to show how good they'll perform in the race
The fuck? I thought it was pure rng.
I put more time into Mario Party ds then I would like to remember.
The flame jump rope was too good
what the fuck is this mandela effect fuckery? i thought the minigame was metal platforms above a pit of lava?
You're thinking of the MP2 version. Essentially the same thing, just different aesthetic.
OP is from Mario Party 1
the lava one is Mario Party 2
You're a dumbass.
here's some anti-kino
Literally every mini-game in Mario Party 2 is good.
unpopular opinion maybe but this whole game was crack multiplayer as a kid.
I remember that being way harder than all of the other bosses for some reason.
It sucks that this one (or regular facelift) didn't return in other games.
The game as a whole was surprisingly solid looking back.
I loved most of the categories in the game, the only ones that felt weak were the car ones.
And ring ding.
Fuck ring ding.
I know mario party 1 is janky but it had some great minigames. I unironically love the one where you're on a boat and have to rotate the fuck out of the joy stick
That is regular facelift.
This guy knows what's up
I really enjoyed Coin block bash. Something about how the guy with the hammer just fucks everybody else up but it can easily pass between multiple people before it ends. That and the music was fun.
I liked how you could lose coins by losing a normal minigame
>make a series with a bajillion entries
>peak with the second one
Why does this always happen
This is when shit got serious.
where the stream at?
1 and 3 were both good also, and the gamecube ones were all pretty good. It only started going downhil around 8.
only good players
>the top 100 remake takes away Shy Guy's pirate coat
Soulless.
good thing is all the top tier ones got ported to 2 i still prefer 1 and minigame island is kino af
Yo this actually scared the shit of me as a kid.
Oh, yeah. Mario Party 2 had Facelift as Battle minigame, I remembered that it was also in first one somehow.
But yeah, it's so fucking fun. Definitely one that needs to return.
Mini Game Coaster was nice but I really liked Mini Game Island's design and music for some reason. Especially when you get to the last bit.
Yeah that one's one of the best 3v1 games, it's fun on both sides. Also the first game had the best OST because fuckin Yasunori Mitsuda did it.
youtube.com
I liked that aspect too, put some strain on how well you performed
I think 2 is objectively better but yeah 1 has all of the charm. Best level themes for sure, the costume stuff in 2 was cool but it doesn't beat shit like yoshi's island and dk's jungle.
This one got perfected in my household
i only say that because 1 was the only one i had until 8
This one scared the shit out of me as well. Seeing the Boos gang up and drag the player underground made me almost shit myself.
I remember this one fishing mini game from the first Mario Party, which will never see the light of day again because of the stigma associated with rotating the control stick.
Most things where shit gets progressively faster are awesome.
>Mario punches a bob-omb in the bob-alls
I'm probably the only unironic post in this thread
Fuck
great music
he's an asshole in a lot of these renders for some reason
I personally wasn't the biggest fan but pic related got my friend group playing like nothing else, I'd constantly try to get them to play Mario Kart and similar when we got together to no avail, but the Ninja Dojo game which requires literally one button press got everyone involved
It was . At least in 2.
Gave me an enormous blister when I tried to do mini game Island. It's ridiculous it passed Nintendo quality checks, meanwhile some decent mini games were cut .
The derby minigame was the ultimate filter as a kid, not sure if I ever got past it
it's crazy how tight you have to play it to win, it makes the other joystick spinning games look like a cakewalk
Nintendo actually became aware of this, you could order special gloves from them to play MP1.
I swear it's impossible without using your palm
>that one 2v2 minigame in MP2 where you destroy Bowser Statues
kino
This part of minigame island was what separated the boys from the men.
What the fucking hell. Never knew it was Yasunori. No wonder it blows the rest of the MP's music out of the fucking water.
Played this all the time as a kid with my cousins during family gatherings
Minigame Island and Minigame Coaster was definitely some of my highlights as an old kid with the N64 Mario Parties. Nothing like those would ever come back as it's own thing again until Super Mario Party. (And technically Top 100.)
Holy shit I'll be sure to use this trick against my little brother when we'll play Mario Party to remember the good old days
Has any Mario Party level had lore this deep?
Oh yeah, and my favorite MP1 minigames were Running of the Bulb and Key-pa-Way, since I liked the co-op aspect of it.
Heck, if you win Running of the Bulb, instead of the normal victory music, you get the victory music that's used for when you set a new record, and it's always well deserved whenever you do win that game.
I know right, I wonder how they got him on board. Also, mario tennis 64's OST was done by the Tales Of guy. This song is just straight up JRPG boss music
>a literal race war
this minigame has some pretty fucked up implications
