Is there any reason not to replace the majority of normal trees with fruit trees? You still get as much wood from them, you can't get wasps, furniture or bells from them so should force them to spawn in the limited remaining trees, making it much easier to predict where the wasps will be.
All I remember is that in wild world there were insects that could only appear on regular trees.
