This game has so much SOUL.
This game has so much SOUL
Yeah it’s one of the all time greats. In many ways it feels like a spiritual successor to chrono trigger
Literally in my top 5 JRPGs of all time.
The rare RPG that manages to be charming, difficult, polished, and the perfect length. Might be a 10/10 for me.
Hey thanks ;)
Haven't liked an RPG this much since Skies of Arcadia.
i don't get chrono trigger feelings from it, it is better than chrono trigger however
I just can't enjoy it the way everyone else seems to. It's so bland and lifeless to me.
I feel like I've been tricked into playing this because I usually love JRPGs a LOT.
I'm sorry you feel that way, user. How far into it did you get? I know it's not much solace to hear that "it gets better", but if you've already invested some time you might start to appreciate it if you can just find that one moment that clicks.
>It's so bland and lifeless
u wot
I've never taken the Dragon Quest pill but I'm extremely tempted to buy it purely from how based Syvlando seems from watching my brother play on occasion.
Should've ended the game in -
Act 2. I blame Veronica buyer's remorse from the author for the rewrites, poor Serena goes back to the JUST my character development shed once Act 3 starts.
Now I'm gonna go through the 2D nostalgia older DQ worlds content. Goddam this game will never end lol.
He’s so based I’d even suck his faggot cock
>started the game on default difficulty
>it’s easy as shit
>just found out you have to enable stronger enemies in the Draconian settings
I’m like 10 hours in and I have to restart. Luckily the game is really good.
The game is mediocre and it has the worst soundtrack of any DQ game.
Sylvando is based.
The orchestral soundtrack is great
You're right about the soundtrack (if not the worst, it's down there), but the rest of the game is pretty solid imo
fuck women. i hated your stew bitch
Just finished the mermaid story and got back from the underwater city.
Dragon Quest thread?
Should I play 8 3DS or 9 DS next?
8 ps2.
DELET THIS
I found the game significantly improved in the second half, which you're about 2 areas and some change away from. As always, it's up to you, but I recommend at least completing the first arc of the 2nd half and see how you feel.
>Put in 145 hours into Breath of the Wild and actually finish it, including all the shrines and all the sidequests, don't feel compelled to go back
>Finish DQ11 Switch at 145 hours also with ALL mini medals collected, tons of perfect equipment crafted, all horse races done, 90% of all the 3D sidequests cleared, all areas looted, all this with Turbo Speed on for everything but boss battles
>Getting a headache thinking about getting Jade's swimsuit in the Casino
>The casino loot in general needs finished
>Need to clear the training grounds and boss challenge content
>The entire 2D throwback time passwords are all unlocked with nothing done in any of them
This is looking to push me towards 200 hours, Jesus Christ. Having the horse accessible at any time, the ultra battle speed, and all other under the hood charges and I'm still hitting new content. Without all this it's gotta be 200 hours on PS4/PC.
I'll give it another shot since I don't have anything else to play right now.
I hope it works out for you, I'm one of those people who does consider it one of the greats of 2017.
Except for the part where you have to play as the faggot. That was terrible and stupid. Not remotely accurate either. He didn't rape even one boy. C'mon now.
I got bored with it. Forced myself to try and like it. Just couldn't
The game was great up until act 3. That part was very disappointing.
MY SIDES
That's fine, one thing I could call a negative about it is that it's fairly vanilla. With all the games that have tried to be subversive and unique in the past few years, a very well done traditional "chosen one saves the world" story was a breath of fresh air to me. It's not going to be for everyone, though I still very much appreciated the thought that went into the combat (apart from a few things).
I finished it a few days ago. Absolutely zero challenge until act 3, then it ramps up considerably until the final boss fucks you raw
The way I see it the game is very divisive.
If you're very pleased with it, you tend to not play many JRPGs.
If you're bored with it, you've played a fuckload of JRPGs.
For some reason playing 12 and 14 at the 200 chip roulette table wins jackpot a lot. Just keep sleeping at the inn in Octagonia till the bunny girl next to the jackpot column in the vip area tells you she feels like someone will win soon. I've won it three times and got 3mil tokens
this game isn't divisive at all, most people who play it liked it. Switch version got high scores from reviewers too, what you're describing feels like xbc2 desu
I played it for a bit and enjoyed somewhat, but it didn't really hook me. I've also had a few friends who played it tell me it's a painfully average JRPG. Maybe someday if I'm in the good for DQ I'll give it another shot.
Agreed. Remember, kids: /v is not real life
Thanks, will do.
>Yas Forums raves about the soundtrack
>it's shit, midi or otherwise
Serves me right for forgetting the golden rule.
I hate using the soul meme but this game really has that. I can’t even pinpoint exactly what it is, but I played Tales of Vesperia after and it didn’t have nearly the same charm.
alpha as fuck
I don't think i've ever heard anyone discuss the soundtrack in a positive light since this game launched, its easily its biggest failing but DQ has always had that problem honestly, there's just not enough varied music in them for how long they are.
literally perfect for 100 hours. could not possibly be better. could have more music. that's pretty much it though. what would you even add
>I played Tales of Vesperia after and it didn’t have nearly the same charm.
Funny, I have the exact opposite opinion. I feel like DQ11 lacks in just about every aspect but graphics while Tales of Vesperia starts out slow for gameplay but makes up for the slow start with being great in every other category.
Its just a style of game they don't make anymore. Vesperia is great but its basically just a good ps2 jrpg. I suppose they don't make those anymore either but its just lacking the charm of earlier jrpgs.
I thought the soundtrack was great, just too fucking repetitive for such a long game.
Be nice to Erik.
I bought 11 in December and thought maybe I should play through some of the other DQ games first. Since then I've beaten 1-7 and 9 and am halfway through 8. Why can't I stop?
My rankings so far are 4>5>8>2>3>1>6>7>9
Why play any of the other games first? They’re all self contained stories.
It's soul shrivels away in Act 3 really fast.
11 apparently has relation to the erdrick trilogy and the tickington quests are just nostalgia apparently and i can't have nostalgia for them if I haven't played them.
I disagree
Its weird need to save everyone who died, even the fucking mermaid, undid all of the impact of Act 2. Really the only character whose story improved in Act 3 was Jasper.
I want to fuck her sister
These time travel rules are no rules. Undermines the stakes from the story.
Her living together cutscene isn't very, ghm, romantic. Same goes for Jade.
Part 3 was so fucking strange. I don't get why they decided to do it the way they did. At least Serena has long hair again.
There are so many ways they could have made it cheesy in a good way. Have the Hero infodump everyone, make time travel make sense, and everything would have been awesome.
Jade's definitely is romantic
Nah. Disappointing. She just teases the Hero a bit.
In all honesty, I love the fact that the Switch version of the game actually managed to give Jasper closure.
She asks you to hold her hand and gives some sexual innuendo about "warming up"
Was the scene between him and Hendrik not in other versions? I don't recall him doing anything other than dying like a bitch in part 3.
I really fucking wish he had more emotion than a wall. I was half-expecting him to hug Veronica when he saw her again or something.
