There's the Unmaykr which you get only by exploring. You're right though, the game should definitely have more weapons you can find by exploring like the old games. That was a cool mechanic.

use your chainsaw strategically. wait until you run out of ammo, then find a zombro and chainsaw that fuck. boom, ammo issues resolved. also, use your ammo strategically. you need to focus on enemy weaknesses instead of just unloading shotgun shells into everything.

Still can't get a cohesive reason for this Dark Souls enemy to be in this game. Beat Doom 2016 on all difficulties and can do room clears without loss of hp/armor but his arbitrary rules made me so mad that I stopped playing. 11/10 before marauder, maybe 5/10 after.

This was the case for me for the first two level or so. After that, there plently of game mechanisms that make it you never really run out of ammo. (i) you get more weapons, meaning more different ammo type to take from, effectively increasing your ammunition pool (ii) ammo pouch upgrade from the crystals (iii) various perks, such as the one that make explosive barrels drop ammo or the weapon mod that give you ammo on kill

All in all, I just finished the super gore nest level, which is huge and chock-full of ennemies and I don't think I ran out of ammo once, not did I had to rely on the chainsaw to get them.
