As somebody who got into Resident Evil by playing RE 2 remake, I'm really looking forward to playing the resident evil 3 remake, since I know nothing about it, but it seems Yas Forums hates it, so should I play the original or the remake?
As somebody who got into Resident Evil by playing RE 2 remake...
Original. The remake is totally forgettable boilerplate action game bullshit.
Remake
Yas Forums hates every new game you underage newfag.
Most of them don't even actually hate it they're just trying to stimulate discussion.
i turn 19 in 4 months so i never played the original because i literally didnt exist when the game released
Play all of them.
If you own a decent PC, a PS3, a Wii or a PSP, you can play almost all of these games (and whatever you're running REmake 3 on can fucking play 4-7 and the REv games)
>Resident Evil 1 (1996)
>Resident Evil 2 (1998)
>Resident Evil 3 (1999)
>Resident Evil CODE:Veronica
>Resident Evil (2002)
>Resident Evil 0
>Resident Evil 4
>Resident Evil 5
>Resident Evil Revelations
>Resident Evil 6
>Resident Evil Revelations 2
>Resident Evil 7
>Resident Evil 2 (2019)
>Resident Evil 3 (2020)
Never take anything Yas Forums says to heart. It's full of contrarians. It doesn't matter what game it is, Yas Forums will act like it's the worst game ever. Also, you're still young. Get the fuck off Yas Forums, don't let it drag you down with it.
play the original before the remake, it's worth it and you'll see why some are gonna be upset.
The lab parts are there for an express purpose in each game.
RE games are not so much about the "horror" as they are about emulating "horror film", American horror films at that.
When the characters enter, it's dusk. They're in the time the monsters creep out, when everything is shrouded in mystery. They have low supplies and struggle to survive. But, as time goes on and dawn turns to dusk, everything becomes less mysterious. That's why the lab is there, as RE roots itself in science, not ghostshit. The lab is there to fully show how artificial everything is and give the characters a far grander enemy than the manufactured monsters they have grown accustomed to.
Then, as they take out the big boss monster, they escape at the last second, just as the sun passes over the horizon, welcoming the dawn. They have survived.
ur a faggot
Yas Forums hates everything, don't use this place to gauge what you should or shouldn't try
Here, enjoy this ass.
Yas Forums hates everything, plus there is a turbo autist going around that is spouting non-sense and being ultra nitpicky about some bullshit, play the demo and you will tell it's basically more RE2make with a different story, so definitely go for it
But Yas Forums hates all games
take as reference
play the first, if you like it keep going, if not skip to 4, if you like it keep going, if not skip to 7. thats it
>RE games are not so much about the "horror" as they are about emulating "horror film"
stop with this shit reddit meme, only the first one was about emulating horror b-movies. The other games had a much more serious tone
>stop with this shit reddit meme, only the first one was about emulating horror b-movies. The other games had a much more serious tone
The progression of RE1-3 is very obviously a reference to the progression of Romero's "Of the Dead" trilogy, although RE1 and 2 are less grim.
Jill and Brad's RPD cards were references to Terminator, the t-103 and Nemesis themselves were references to slasher villains, Sherry and Claire have a very Aliens relationship, one could argue Jill emulates Alien 3, but again, less grim.
CVX outright references Return of the Living Dead 3 with the first appearance of the big arm t-Type, as well as Nosferatu referencing Nosferatu, Alfred and Alexia being a reference to Psycho, etc.
This isn't a "shit reddit meme" it's in the blood of the series, and it's why every game still goes through the motions of dusk till dawn.
Yas Forums hates living too. guess you better kill yourself then.
both
i've been browsing as an underage since I was 13, and browsing imageboards and forums in general since I was 10. im already lost to this place
Play the original so you can appreciate the remake
original re2 has so much soul it's not even funny
you should play og 1-3 no doubt
play all of this. 2 and 3 even have ai upscaled texture mods
So how many weapons and enemies are in the game? Is it true they’re reusing the lightning hawk?
As a 33 year old boomer that actually grew up with the original games, I can confirm RE2make takes a massive dump on the original RE2. People here are fucking idiots. Don't ever take this shithole seriously. R3make will also be a masterpiece.
The original is a survival horror game with puzzles, backtracking and resource management, the "remake" is a linear action game "inspired" by the original with lazy mechanics. For example Nemesis can teleport right in front of you, the gore has been downgraded from RE2R, its full of cut scenes which break immersion, Jill acts like a rebel lesbian teenager, there seems to be little to no backtracking or puzzles. They also implemented a dodge from the original but they added slow mo to it for some stupid reason making the game feel more like an action movie.
That's a dumb reason, have you never watched movies that came out before 2001 either?
*Also just play both you faggot. Now's the time to play the original RE3, then you can play R3make when it comes out. Original RE3 is short af, you should be able to beat first playthrough in around 6 hours.
That looks hideous. Honestly, keep that shit behind pixels, even the lighting is all fucked up.
The only bad thing I saw in the demo was Nemesis's behavior, but that's a pretty big thing for them to fuck up considering how prominent he is in the game.
Play the original. If you want to fully appreciate the context and 'evolution' of a series, always go by release order.
You should be playing lots of games and classics regardless of age, my age has not prevented me from playing hundreds of titles before I was born.
it's a surrealist masterpiece pleb
Not him, but I honestly can't think of a movie I've seen that came out before '96, the year I was born.
If you enjoyed REmake 2 I can only suggest getting into the classic RE games, if only to experience REmake 2 in all it's glory. Start with the original PSX, preferably play with an emulator I suggest retroarch since it's free, retard proof and you can set up a filter to smooth out those graphics in 2 clicks.
After that the the Gamecube versions on a hacked wii is my prefered way to play but retroarch will carry you through the series admirably.
How are the death scenes in 3?
How is this even possible
play RE7 instead, it has the same engine as RE2R/RE3R
What are you supposed to do against Nemesis? I tried running away but he'll either jump in front of me or chase and me push my shit in.
I can take a shit after a spicy curry and some pretentious artist cunt would call it art. Please see for what it should look like
dont play Resident Evil 3 Remake
I don't see the point of that corner. It doesn't fit into a realistic setting.
I can understand missing on B&W classics but you didn't even watch the original Star Wars trilogy? These movies run on TV every few years, even my turbo zoomer little brother seen retrun of the Jedi 3 times.
What country are you from?
Nah, yours looks like fucking trash. Pretty sure that room wasn't covered in piss. Can't wait till RE1 is upscaled too.
>What country are you from?
U.S.
>Nah, yours looks like fucking trash.
lol my bad it was actually really warm lighting
carry on
what even is the point?
i know that the games are full of reference but this
>RE games are not so much about the "horror" as they are about emulating "horror film"
is only true for the first game, the others are 100% about the "horror", the fact that there are references doesn't mean anything
>they have low supplies and struggle to survive
yes, like every survival horror
>and it's why every game still goes through the motions of dusk till dawn
i guess the point of batman arkham city was to emulate the evil dead then
As some one who grew up playing the originals, though they have a special place in my heart, I’ve enjoyed and found the remakes to be more intense and enjoyable.
I also really enjoyed 7, shit was spooooky until it, like all resident evil games turns into a action movie about 66% of the way through.
play the original version of 2 for the music, RE2 has the best soundtrack of all time
youtube.com
voth is an old hag now
Is that webm recent? She still looks good if so.
show a little respect
no, it's not
she hit the wall a long time ago
Pretty sure these games were designed with 240p assets with the idea that they would be displayed on 480i CRT displays. I concede that properly emulating that distinct CRT glow will never be possible but it's the next best thing. Disgusting looking ultra high res low poly models awkwardly placed infront of sloppily "upgraded" low res backgrounds is not the way to go.
Go download retroarch, load an iso of RE 1, load the crtroyale shader and try seriously playing your upscaled grabage after that.
fuck off, secondary
retroarch is far from idiot proof
pretty great actually
post scariest osts

Good, they got rid of that annoying flickering black screen from 2
both

Because the build up to that morgue moment. You pass infront of that room several times, you know something's gonna be in there, you anticipate. Then in scenario B, you conquered the game, you think you got it, it's peanuts...
that was the idea at the time and the games certainly look great on an actual crt, but I'm not going to try and emulate that except for games like super metroid. For RE you basically know the environments looked decent as they were designing them and thats why it's fun to play with AI upscaling.
internally upscaled graphics for the characters and the CRT filter might be something I'll try later though, I imagine it would be closer to playing remake on a crt.
I'm currently torn on whether I should get it on console or PC, I'm so used to playing RE on console by now, but I tried the RE3 demo on PC and it felt so good on m+kb, it almost felt like cheating in comparison.
youtube.com
This one hits hard as It breaks the only unholy rule of any old RE game, and plays in one door that when you try to open it spawns zombies on your ass
Pffft fuck the original, lad you came right on time for some great remakes
>so should I play the original or the remake?
Both, faggotron
Does anyone else here still use a CRT or has almost everyone given up on it and switched to LCD?
I still use CRTs and I'm currently looking for the holy grail analog 480p.
I don't care about Yas Forums poop opinion I'm pre-ordering RE3 right now.
