HL3 is confirmed

>HL3 is confirmed
>No one fucking cares
What went so wrong?

Attached: HL3.jpg (830x535, 78.91K)

They made it VR.

Took too fucking long
VR only.

Based. Here is hoping Elder Scrolls 6 is VR only.

People are repulsed, disappointed and pissed because it's 13+ years too late and storywise it's irredeemable fanficiton garbage
>NOOOOO NOT MY HECKIN ELI VANCEINO NOT MY NIGGERINO BROSEPHINO!!!
And then by courtesy of Campo Santo's terrific Naruto-tier fanfiction writing abilities Valve pulled the biggest asspull of the last two decades: retconing the events of HL2 and the episodes, the entire franchise even.

With this amateur hackshit turd pull they rendered EVERYTHING Gordon Freeman ever did since Half-Life 1 and EVERYTHING that has ever occured in the Half-Life universe completely moot.
None of what happened or is going to happen matters, because LOL DIFFERENT TIMELINES BRO! DON'T WORRY JUST JUMP TO ANOTHER ONE BRO!
Once you go time travel/different timelies you essentially go full retard and never recover from it.

Everyone watched the ending/BIG TWEEEEST on Youtube by now. Everyone agrees that the Half-Life saga ended with Marc Laidlaw's Epistle 3. Everyone already moved on.

>13 years later.
>The ending is literally the same ending as of Episode 2.

VR meme and retconning.

It's VR.

It hasn't even been out for a week. And because of the exclusive hardware needed to play it, only a small amount of people had the chance.

>they don't know

>>With this amateur hackshit turd pull they rendered EVERYTHING Gordon Freeman ever did since Half-Life 1 and EVERYTHING that has ever occured in the Half-Life universe completely moot.
>None of what happened or is going to happen matters
This. Everything that happens from now falls under the question of
>Why doesn't G-Man or his employers just go back in time to change things?
Up to this point, if you asked the question
>Why doesn't G-Man just teleport Gordon and Alyx to White Forest?
or something similar, it's because it alerts ever more people to G-Man's existence. But now whoops we can just go back in time kthxbai.
>Maybe they can't ALWAYS go back in time
That's contrived and really lame. It was always interesting that Half-Life never had time travel because of the implication that actions were permanent. The furthest Laidlaw ever retconned was HL2's ending, and it's more like a revision. Vortigaunts save Alyx, which could have happened anyway, and G-Man takes Gordon, just like at the end of HL2, but vortigaunts intervene. The whole series, going forward, has no consequences.

I dunno, maybe because a lot of us were 16-years-old when HL2 came out and they took a million fucking years to follow up, and now we have moved on to other games

>reddit memes
This is where I stopped reading

Then read

Valve promised a trilogy of short, episodic games. They made two of those episodes, made the second one end at an awful cliffhanger, and then went silent regarding the series for over a decade. It's hard not to wonder if this was done just to spite the fans, perhaps because sales or review scores were not up to the company's expectations. In any case, they clearly stopped giving a single fuck about Half-Life and its fans for a long time. Then when they continue the series, it's essentially in a different medium, and the cliffhanger is retconned instead of resolved. What went wrong regarding the continuation of the series is two-fold: First, a lot of people stopped caring; they got mad at the cancellation of the episodes trilogy, then got over it. Second, the overlap between Half-Life fans and VR fans is significantly less than 100%.

>why doesn't G-Man do X?
Because he agreed to abide by certain restrictions. And time travel has always existed in HL since G-Man can manipulate time and space at his whim. Alyx doesn't even kill the Advisor in the 'future', she kills it in G-Man's pocket dimension.

Prepare for unforseen consequences.

HLA was never HL3.
It's literally a prequel to HL2.

ya'll disappointed yourselves with the irrational bandwagon of calling it HL3.

>NOOOOO NOT MY HECKIN ELI VANCEINO NOT MY NIGGERINO BROSEPHINO!!!
even if you are right, nobody cares because of this autistic screeching

Half-Life fans are delusional.

Reminder that Half-Life 3 was never officially announced, and Half-Life fans basically just assumed it was in development as it became clear that Half-Life 2: Episode Three would never happen, because they couldn't handle the fact that the series was dead.

Why are you posting when you don't know what you're talking about?

>Because he agreed to abide by certain restrictions
Are you retarded?
>Maybe they can't ALWAYS go back in time
>Maybe there're restrictions!
We never needed to know the specifics of how G-Man's employers function. The line about restrictions in Episode Two was enough because G-Man never did anything truly monumental. It was all Gordon. But going back in time changes everything because why can't they just continually go back in time whenever they want to get the exact results they want?
>Maybe they can't do it all the time
So when will they be able to again?
>Don't ask questions
Then it's shit writing.

It's a cliffhanger in the exact same spot as Episode 2, but under different circumstances. It could take another 13 years for that to be resolved, for all I care.

>It's a cliffhanger in the exact same spot as Episode 2, but under different circumstances.
That's actually pretty hilarious. If they wait another decade to continue the series, Valve will have succeeded in trolling its fans more than any other game developer in history.
>cancel episodic series at cliffhanger
>make fans wait 13 years
>release new game
>instead of advancing plot, replace cliffhanger with a different cliffhanger
>make fans wait XX years
It's almost too perfect.

Imagine if the plot never moves past that moment.

can you fucking read? The ending confirmed hl3. The op literally wrote ">hl3 confirmed" not "hla is hl3"

holy SHIT how can anyone be this smug and retarded at the same time

making a VR game KB modded isn't good. The game is already dumbed down too much for VR controls. KB would feel too boring. VR is a shit gimmick anyway.

>HL3 is confirmed
just like episode 3 was confirmed when they made that other cliffhanger right?

to hammer your points home, it has gone from what does the gman and his employers want, to why don't they just do that thing again

The other guy probably did misunderstand OP's post, but,
>The ending confirmed hl3.
lol.

Nothing is confirmed. The ending of Half-Life: Alyx confirms Half-Life 3 only as much as the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode Two confirmed Half-Life 2: Episode Three, which never came out because Valve doesn't like Half-Life fans. To think that a cliffhanger is a promise of a continuation, in a Valve game of all fucking games, is beyond retarded.

It's possible that Half-Life 3 is coming soon. But it's just as likely that it's not.

Can't wait to play Half-Life: Barney in 2040 and have the game end with yet another revision of this exact same cliffhanger.

why is there such a INSANE half life hard on on this fucking board, an average VR game comes out and the board fucking loses its mind, i thought this board had standards

It's called Half-Life because you have to wait half your fucking life to find out what happens.

Attached: Screenshot_2020-03-24 Half-Life (series) - Wikipedia.png (250x568, 21.73K)

You can only play it while wearing a stupid helmet

>confirmed
thats a no from me dog

>game ends with being handed a crowbar as gordon freeman with the lines "We got work to do"
>"But it's just as likely that it's not."
youre a retard my friend.

Much like what happened with Disney Star Wars, their plan for the franchise was in limbo after HL2E2, so they had no choice but to retcon elements of the plot to keep it going.

its only a matter of time that half life fans stop being in the stage of denial and realize their series has been turned to shit like star wars

except this was much less excruciating as a half life fan.
i hate time travel shit and retcons, but having them happen because of gman is just enough for me to go with it.
the gameplay is much more important to me anyways, and HLA is fun.

>retconing the events of HL2 and the episodes, the entire franchise even.
it only retcon the ending of episode 2, everything else is still the same.

Are you stupid or something? Games don't just pop into existence because of what fictional characters say. Valve actually has to make the game. And their track record on making Half-Life games in a timely manner and not canceling them is pretty poor, even for Half-Life games that were actually promised by the developers themselves (i.e. Half-Life 2: Episode Three).

Imagine if half-life 3 ends on a cliffhanger as well.

they really dont know, aint it

nigger

you are not very bright, are you?

Is this your first Valve game or something?

Attached: getduped.jpg (776x602, 83.37K)

>you are not very bright, are you?
how did it retcon anything before hand?

It isn’t 2007 anymore user, and leaks and writers basically irreparably fucked any potential plot point past the satellite launch and would be a guaranteed hate magnet. Personally I’d rather they just do little snippets here and there rather than try and go the way the Star Wars sequels did and piss everyone off.

Kind of disappointing, since I just now learned about it without having played or seen the end of HL Alyx.

well , time to survive the world end and then another 15 years.

the only thing that changed was eli's death, everthing else happened like it did in half-life 2 and the episodes, as show by the fact that gordon and eli are still in the hanger and were still attacked by advisors.

Found the guy who didn't play the game and doesn't understand the ending

Lots of games end on cliffhangers. One could say the original Half-Life ended on a cliffhanger, but it also had a suitable ending. You killed the big monster, and... oh no! The main characters is put in stasis, with vague implications of future adventures to come. That's both a weak cliffhanger and a reasonable ending. It's a set-up for a sequel, but I can't imagine players were left completely fucking pissed off about it until the sequel was released.

The problem with Half-Life 2: Episode Two is that its ending was just unsatisfying as hell.
>ramping up to next part of adventure
>secondary character abruptly dies
>fade to black
That's not any kind of ending, and I doubt it was ever planned to be the stopping point of the series for 13 fucking years. Frankly, it's hardly even a cliffhanger, in that it doesn't stop at an extremely suspenseful point. A proper cliffhanger would have been ending the game when the character is ABOUT TO die, but instead it ends after he's dead. It doesn't leave the player on the edge of his seat waiting to find out what happens next. It's more like, "oh, okay... and?"

I care, retard.

ever dev has said in interviews as recent as yesterday that they are ready and rearing to keep working on half life games.

It's on VR and not even half life 3 lol op is retarded

apparently the devs said that if HL:A failed then they would give up on it.

This board is all about smash and Doom. No one cares for HL

HL:Alyx is great and a success. Market isn't huge because there are not a lot of VR systems but Valve doesn't care about it. They did good

lmao

G-Man pls

Attached: adrian shephard.jpg (360x360, 32.78K)

Technically you can't call it a retcon because everything still happened. Eli died, then G-Man teleports in, reverses everything, and lets her save Eli as part of the deal.

It's a canonical retcon. Valve pulled out of their ass an in-universe explanation for changing shit.

teasing something and actually making it are different things, remember Valve announced Episode 3 and then just never made it
