Why are Clowns/Jesters/Harlequins always portrayed as evil villains in fiction, especially in video games? I say we need more positive and heroic clown characters in video games.

uncanny valley. they look "off" or creepy to most people.

Maybe so, but I think they look colorful. There's just a certain aesthetic to them that I fancy about them.

Clowns & Jesters are inherently one of the best archetypes for a villain and they’re so many examples that it’s baffling.

Kefka, Marx, Dimentio, Jevil, Spinel, these are just some of the most notable ones too. Yes I know the last one is Yas Forums but given how popular she is, she’s worth a mention.
