I think the ammo being a limited resource is fine if you just make the chainsaw faster and useable on most stuff. So replacing the chainsaw with the Vorpal sword later on sounds like it fixes it

No, the final boss was great, and the ending was fine. It felt like the Doom 2 final boss fight that was originally intended but couldn't be achieved due to technical limitations

I wouldn't call it cringe, but I do think they really did force in way too much Sentinel lore than necessary, the Maykr stuff was alright, especially with the possibility that Samuel Hayden created the Maykrs. I liked the Demon lore though, especially the Hell Royalty and the Hell Priests.

Here's what I suggest:
I would also add more stuff to do in the Fortress of Doom and make the arena way more interesting instead of just a practice zone.
Also there should be more Hell on Earth levels and more humans vs demons stuff
Remove the fucking tentacles
More chanting in the OST, it felt way too restrained at times.
Fix the melee punch, the silver bullet cheat actually gets it right for the most part (at least for weaker enemies)
Also some of the platforming was fun, but a lot of them (like the one on the second level and the Super Gore Nest ones) were just fucking dumb.
Add way more cooler cheats, go nuts with them.
Give Cyberdemon and Archvile an introduction like in the trailer, instead of turning them into a random enemy in the arena.

Yeah, the flame thrower is pretty weak as a weapon, I feel like I could use some crowd control instead. Getting stuck in a crowd is the worst that can happen in the game. Applying the blood punch buff to dash could help.

The game also needs better gibbing. Combat lacks weight because there is not enough blood and bodies disappear instantly.

During those sections all I would think was "I just want to kill more demons".
It killed the pacing and was tedious.
It was fine in 2016, but even then was criticized. I really don't understand why they put more of it in Eternal especially with all the Mario shit. Who the fuck was asking for that?
The level where you need to get down to Mars should have been the big platforming set piece, but it looses all grandeur because of all the platforming you need to do up to that point.

You just wait for his attacks to end and then you shoot at him and then you look for enemies to farm for ammo and then you just hide. It could have been that you needed to weaken his armor and then punch him to break it, maybe you need to kill Caco demons to reset your dash so you can reach him so you can punch him, dat'd cool, anything but hide and shoot

The flame thrower isnt supposed to be for killing. Its supposed to be for hoardes of demons you then dispose of in another way for tons of shields. Its just a reliable shield source unlike in 2016.

as for perishable things they could actually change -- faster default movement speed (can big fixed in console/mods most likely, so not real problem), make the prowler a bit more distinctive (too much like Imp IMO), make purple goo less obnoxious (can be fixed indirectly with faster default movement), uuh... not much, really.

as for DLC content, I'd like to see Ripatorium expanded upon. if the MP slowly dies, I can see them easily using the MP maps as options for the ripatorium.

I think Ammo needs to be an important resource that you need to manage, but the animation is kind long and ALSO the blinking demons imps look like regular imps but you cant chainsaw then so you get the failed animation and sometimess its a clutter and you cant reach the enemy you want to chainsaw. My solution: Add a chain on the chainsaw just like the one on the shotgun that pulls you to enemies. Just thought of this, maybe not the best solution but an interesting idea. I just do think managing ammo is an important part of what makes the game fun

Honestly Eternal is fucking awesome. Obviously it is flawed but I feel like this game is so much more ambitious than Doom 2016 ever was, and while some of its faults may be more glaring, d44m was just too safe to ever soar as high as Eternal does.

The ammo thing can be an issue for sure, and while I love the rhythm I've gotten into with the game, it wouldn't have hurt it at all to give the player at least some more ammo, not doom 2016 levels but some more. But I love the mechanics, I'm having so much more fun with this game than I ever did with D44M, I'm so much more engaged playing it.

D44M had a better story presentation and I liked the flow of that game quite a lot. I don't like how this does story, it has cutscenes and it has some moments of story that happen through gameplay like D44M did but you're left in the fucking blind if you don't read books worth of codex to understand what is even slightly going on. D44M you could ignore all that and just get a story out of playing the game, it was minimal and done right.

The people complaining about ammo probably never got past level 3. As soon as you get all the ammo upgrades and guns, it doesnt become an issue anymore.

I get that ammo managing ammo is part of it but you get 16 shells in the shotgun. Enemies take more than 1 hit some times so you've killed about 5 with them 16 bullets compared to 2016 doom where you had just a bit more ammo.

The guns just need a bit more ammo that's all.

open up the levels more and encourage the player to find shortcuts through the level instead of sectioning new areas and secrets off with a puzzle

The proper solution is to have the ammo count increased for difficulties below nightmare. That way the players that want their demon blasting power fantasy can have it and the players that want to challenge themselves and strategize can have theirs.

Gameplay loop is pretty tiresome, the waves get old especially by the end of it. Further, ammo and glory kills as a required mechanic and the changes from the punch being a light tap to help get glory kills kind of messed it up.

I would also remove the arcade feel with the colors, but keep the quickness of movement. Finally, I would definitely give the player an infinite ammo pistol so he could at least have a chance when he runs out of ammo...
