I tried turning an Island into spider Island, but what people forget to mention is that all creature spawns are pooled together, so you've still got to run around trying to get rid of fish while avoiding spiders which pop up out of nowhere. Pretty crazy but worth the bells.

After your plots are placed for your first 3 villagers they stop snowing up

After you set up the three houses you don't get any more from islands.
You have to wait for the campground, where you can do the same thing, but once per day (if it works like New Leaf).
