I thought Yas Forums warmed up to Oblivion after Skyrim had been out for half a decade and most people realized Skyrim was shit.

I've always said Oblivion is good, but not as good as Morrowind and Skyrim.
In fact, playing it properly as you are, you should easily see the major problem with Oblivion, its level scaling.

Yes user he's playing the game the way it is intended, selecting skills he believes will be useful and making them major.
He literally said it's his first playthrough. I would never fault someone for not optimizing on a first run, especially an RPG as bad as Oblivion where the best optimization is "DON'T pick the skills you plan on using so you never level up so you don't have to deal with the atrocious level scaling"
I understand your point is that they level quickly without being major skills though.

Orc is best race in both Skyrim and Oblivion hands down.

It's not the fault of the game that you're doing the Morrowind equivalent of facing away from enemies when trying to attack them in Oblivion.

You can still get some pretty amazing power just from potions/enchantments, but yes, the potionmaking/spellmaking mechanics are what Morrowind excels in that really set it apart from its successors. Breaking the game is feasible and encouraged in those regards. To give you a taste of how you can abuse potions, you've probably come across the Boots of Blinding Speed during your playthrough, right? Well if you have, what you can do is create a potion that provides blindness immunity for any length of time, and equip the boots before that immunity wears off.

It has nothing to do with minmaxing, it has to do with common fucking sense. You know how to level up, you know that leveling endurance quickly is important, you know that enemies get stronger as you do, so you shouldn't fuck around. Put it all together, and you get a strategy for how to properly build a character. But retards can't do that, so they bitch about how the level scaling is terrible and how the game is unplayable without mods.

people trying to game the leveling system or mod it to "fix it" are being stupid. You can kill most things by level 5-10 without exploiting or "gaming' the leveling system just by building a proper character and using consumables you buy from vendors.
The people who think the leveling system is broken are just brainlets who failed at making a character so they blame the game.
