Night time spring bugs are much more money than fishing without luck right now. If you just want to fish because you enjoy it, but also want passive income, ocean only fishing is the way to go. Bait is mainly for farming a specific fish in a specific spawn point IE the ponds.

I got it yesterday and I found the best way to do it is to close your eyes after you see the fish going for the line and only going on sound cues. watching the fish bite at the line can psych you out and accidentally pull it early, otherwise it pretty easy.

River on top of the cliff. Either the second or third level, doesn't matter. Big fish shadow.

I've been through like 15 mystery islands and have yet to find the Tarantula island. It only spawns at night, right? How common/rare is it?

I'll be honest with you, I don't think bait brings in the "big" rares. I stopped using it and just created a circle I'd run and got two stringfish in the span of 15 mins after using 300+ bait for them.
