Once you get the Able Sisters shop you can generate an alphanumeric code. NH doesn't use QR code sharing because the Switch doesn't have a camera.

NH uses a code system for designs you unlock when you get the Able sisters
I wish more people would unlock them already

For all those spreading dis-info let me clear the room. QR codes are usable in New Horizons. Let's break it down. You need Nintendo online service. You need the Nintendo switch phone app. Once you have the Nintendo switch phone at that is linked to your current Nintendo account your need to enable it through the animal crossing start menu settings. Nook should be super serious about it. Once the app and game are linked through the app and nook link you can scan AT codes through your phone and while in designer in animal crossing by just pressing (+) have the ability to download them.
