Doom series

Let's settle this

Attached: file.png (1229x729, 1.39M)

Doom 2 > Doom 1 > Doom 2016 > Eternal > Final Doom > Doom 64 > Doom 3
Fpbp and dare I say it? Imma say it. /thread.

2>64>1>3>D44M>Eternal
Haven't played final DOOM

Is it really fair to pair Plutonia and TNT together, that just drags Plutonia down.

Plutonia > Doom 2 > Doom > TNT > Doom 64 > DOOM > Doom 3

Haven't played Eternal yet

Literally this except 1 infront of 2

They are already in order

2 is better

>doom 3
>big scary monster on the cover
>doom 2016
>the big scary monster is doomguy himself

kino

I haven't finished eternal yet, so I can't rank it appropriately, but Doom>Plutonia>64>2016>Doom 2>Doom 3> TNT
Unless it turns to shit after level 7 then I'd put eternal between 64 and plutonia

Attached: 1584577645656.png (1198x896, 473.66K)

>the big scary monster is doomguy himself
makes sense considering it's one of the least challenging video games ever made

>2020
>pic related unironically think that a 30 year old game is better than a new release
doom eternal>doom 2016>>>>doom3 and the other shit

noone in their right mind would prefer a game that doesnt even have actual 3d over a brand new release with way better visuals, sound, design, levels, etc.
>inb4 zoomer

Attached: 1530023977906.png (1066x600, 276K)

Eternal > Doom 1 > Doom 64 = Doom 2016 > Plutonia > Doom 2 >>>>> Doom 3 = TNT.
Anyone claiming Eternal isn't the best game in the series is dumb.

Remove the super shotgun from Doom 2 and you just have Doom 1 except slightly less interesting
BAITBAITBAITBAITBAIT

Doom as a series isn't exactly known for it's blistering, hardcore difficulty. It's been easy since 1993.

either zoomer or bait, either way kill yourself and get some taste

>least challenging video games ever made

Attached: 1415649052408.jpg (255x220, 6.99K)

I agree with you on the ranking but you're still a retard.

based beyond belief

>Doom as a series isn't exactly known for it's blistering, hardcore difficulty.
>t. hasn't played Plutonia and probably didn't even pistol-start the first two games on UV -fast
lol

Plutonia > 2 > 64 > 2016 ~ Eternal > 1 > TNT > 3
I'd say overall though that none of the games are actually bad, Doom's perhaps fortunate its one of the only series (let alone series with more than four entries) that hasn't had a truly bad game, hell not even a mediocre one.

>liking 30 year old games is taste

Attached: 1517778085778.png (645x614, 82.59K)

This is fair.

NRFTL > 1 > 64 > Doom 2 > All that shit that came with 1 > 3's expansions > 3.

I haven't played 2016 or Eternal yet. I'm sure they're fine. I'm more of a Build Engine fan anyway.

If anything I'd argue Eternal gets better with the levels once you get to Sentinel Prime with the third Hell Priest the game really kicks into gear imo since that's when they stop pussy footing around and start throwing the super-heavy demons at you.

Confirmed retarded. Doom 1 is the second best game in the series. 2016 has a lot of flaws and it isn't a perfect game. Eternal fixed nearly everything about it. The new and old games are all amazing, except for Doom 3 which was shit.

Eternal > 1 > 2 > 2016 > 64 > 3

>NRFTL
forgot about that one, it's based

>it's old so it's bad
I can already tell you have shit taste in everything, not just video games

>hasn't had a truly bad game

Attached: doom rpg these are official.png (740x424, 592.19K)

1 > 2 > D44M > 64 > 3 > Eternal

Eternal's superheavies are all fucking great and I cannot wait for more Master Levels that use them more. Archvile, Tyrant, and Marauder are all fun as fuck to fight, Doomhunter's the only one I say falls short.

Still not a bad game

>hell not even a mediocre one.
3 is a very bad Doom game. It's slow and boring to play. 2's level design is mediocre and for every amazing level there are 3 shitty ones. And TNT is just as boring as 3.

>>it's old so it's bad
>implying I said old dooms are bad
they are good games, but I would still play the newer dooms if I had to choose because they are objectively better games

damn nostalgia fags are really retarded

swap final and 64 and you got a deal

>He does not enjoy Defender on his Atari 2600.

Attached: 1579884641407m.jpg (527x1024, 131.12K)

nigga RPG was fucking amazing when i was 14 and had completely forgotten about doom because parents threw out my win95 PC

>placing Doom 2016 above Eternal, ever
Is this peak contrarianism? 2016 was a great game but I cannot think of a single thing it did that Eternal didn't improve upon.

Doom II > Doom > D44M

I have not played Doom 3 nor 64 and I count Final Doom as being part of II.

If you found DOOM (2016) challenging at all on any difficulty then you 100% have brain damage
>take damage
>oh shit better do a glory kill now!!!
>shoot gun a bit
>oh fuck better whip out the chainsaw for ammo!!!
it's literally a console shooter designed to make you feel like a god no matter how devoid of skill you are, it's basically impossible to be punished no matter how bad you play, it's awful game design (or genius game design from an "appealing to the lowest common denominator" perspective).

Tyrant is weirdly underutilized imo, dude doesn't see that much action in the main campaign, would be cool to get a rematch against the Cyberdemon with Tyrant Demons spawning in to add some difficulty.

I can't think of a single thing Eternal did better

64 with KBM is fine.
3 belongs in a Half Life marathon.

>Is this peak contrarianism?
Nah, just being honest. I prefer 2016 for a multitude of reasons. Eternal is alright and certainly not as bad as people say, but it was a downgrade from an artistic and even storytelling standpoint. Not to mention the platforming is a hit or a miss, whereas D44M still managed to be somewhat true to it's core. And yes, innovation is good, but like I said, I prefer 2016.

yes doom 2 is much better
>strafe constantly
>wait for monsters to infight
>hide behind corner from time to time
>hope RNG is on your side

Attached: 1516131911124.png (542x512, 51.94K)

Play the Cultist Base's Master Level, almost every fight in that spawns at least one Tyrant. The last one spawns two Tyrants and then an Archvile.
I'd also be pretty happy if they used some Doom 2016 maps for Master Levels. Vega Central Processing with Eternal enemies would be really cool.

Worst taste I've ever seen. Quit playing video games.

>not "circle-strafe for 2 minutes firing indiscriminately into the horde of monsters just spawned with the SSG for the fourth time that map"

You picked several posts that have completely different rankings. I think you're the one who is a retard or baiting.

>combat
>enemy variety
>map variety
>meathook
>actually balanced weapon mods
>superheavies
>better bosses
It literally did everything 2016 did but better. It's the perfect sequel. 2016 is still a great game but Eternal did what a sequel SHOULD do and made everything better.

Not the guy you're replying to but for me I'm kinda iffy on which I prefer, there are definite elements Eternal has over 2016 like the enemy variety and setting although I think 2016 had the better weapons (mainly through the mods but also Gauss Cannon > Ballista), Bosses and overall Story.

3 >> 1 ~ 2 > 2016 ~ Eternal
Haven't beat 64, but I wasn't fan of the part I played a few years back.

All those ratings are pretty retarded

2>1>64>final(as a full package)>3>2016>Eternal

>bosses and story
I definitely think Eternal one-upped 2016 in this regard. I loved 2016's bosses, especially the Cyberdemon and Mastermind, but Eternal's bosses are all more varied and require a lot more thought. The Icon of Sin's fight was the best in the whole series.
I'm inclined to make fun of you for caring about story in a Doom game, but Eternal still did that better I think. I liked all the Sentinel backstory and finally confirming the Slayer is Doomguy was great.

Eternal > 4 > 2 > 64 > 1 > 3

Attached: 90510077_501983644044034_2325687368733949952_n.jpg (710x647, 152.44K)

TNT is better though?

1 > 64 > Eternal > 4 > Plutonia > 2 > TNT > 3
Fight me.

You played Eternal but not 2016?

How good is the PC port of 64?

Based idiot

>4
I'll call it NuDoom when they actually put out a "4" in 30 years.

Astoundingly bad taste. Genuinely repulsive.

>1 that low
>2 that high
Jesus, man.

The lore in Eternal is definitely a step up but the actual in-game story has poorer pacing imo, I get having Icon of Sin be the final boss again but it kinda fucks up the pacing when Khan Maykr is the main antagonist for much of the story just for her to be ditched for the IoS. Also the whole thing with the Hell Priests came off rather underwhelming, the third Hell Priest got about as much attention as I would've liked the first two to get, that degree of background they provide the character was something that came off lacking for the first two, particularly the Barge Hell Priest.

2016 came off quite a bit more slow paced in its story but I think that worked better for it since it meant you could have the returns to Hell and Mars and introduce elements like the Cyberdemon and VEGA's core when they became relevant rather than having them be a lingering plot thread that goes underdeveloped for much of the plot like IoS.

1> 64> 2016> eternal> 2> 3> final

Normally you'd just accuse Nightdive of stealing EX, but for once they didn't steal fanwork.
You can tell, because their version is significantly worse in every aspect. Plus 5 splash screens on startup.

It's Blood: Fresh Supply 2.0

>in-game story has poorer pacing
Personally I think this is on purpose to hype up the DLC. I get a definite "starting in the middle of the story" vibe with Eternal, they're implying Doomguy's been fighting the Earth invasion for a while before he finally found Deag Nilox. I imagine the first DLC will be a prequel that shows us where he was sent after 2016 and then the first parts of the Earth invasion.
Then the next DLC will probably show us whatever is next for Doomguy, since the ending for the base game was so abrupt. Definitely interested in where they'll go with the whole Hayden and VEGA being the Seraphim and the Father thing.

Eternal > 2016 > 64 > 2 > 3 > 1 > Final

I'm surprised people are so mixed on 64. Everyone seems to agree that 1 was great and 2 was a bit worse. Why does 64 seem to only show up at the top or bottom of people's lists?

Everything you just said is wrong.

Because no one fucking played 64, and it's lack of Robert Prince music and change of atmosphere is more divisive than you'd think. Everyone's played 2 and everyone remembers how fucking terrible maps like Chasm and Downtown were, but 64 isn't as popular and there's less bandwagoning.

im playing eternal now and with the cacodemons needing the nade/shotty nade to essentially kill them is fucking retarded, this forced approach is dogshit and i dont like it. i hope it gets better

Can someone explain to me why Doom II is liked more? Other than SS being a great addition, the maps were too large and over complicated.

What makes 64 good?

So what you're saying is the fan port was better. Didn't they get the same dude to make it? What happened?
>5 splash screens
From what I understand you can just disable those.

Thank you for your eloquent and descriptive rebuttal. You've changed my mind completely.

You control the buttons you press. No one's forcing you to sticky bomb them.

Official worst post yet. I challenge someone to make a worse rank than this.

Whether they played EX on KBM or with a N64 controller, probably.

The gamepad controls are really bad, you have a solid 2 seconds of acceleration/slowdown on strafe. It's like playing fucking King's Field.
That and they dislike the lack of outright music and the sort of clunky 3d model sprite renders.

atmosphere, consistently great level design, visuals

I thought it was great, the map design was strong.

How do you feel about it, user?
