I want to get into VNs like Steins;Gate and other weeb games while I wait out the quarantine. Should I get a PSP or PSVITA?
PSP is 30 euro, PSVITA is 100.

Vita since it offers more visual novels alongside with what you get from the PSP and PS1. Both need to be hacked and have a microsd adapter anyway
Assuming of course you can read moonrunes otherwise your choice of VNs is very limited in either case (more so on PSP).

Go with Vita since it's (obviously) basically PSP+Vita games. Also if you can read moonrunes the Japs are still releasing some VNs for Vita.

Vita lets you play everything the PSP could plus emulate everything up to and including PS1.
It's a very nice handheld in general, even the later models screens still blow every other handheld and the Switch out of the water.

i can't think of any VN on PSP that's not significantly better on other platforms.
the vita screen's pixel density is enough that its relatively low resolution doesn't matter, but PSP, and consequently 2D PSP games played on anything else, is so low res that it just doesn't hold up to modern standards.
VNs natively on vita almost all look fine. the only VN i've seen that's so bad on vita you should avoid it is new danganronpa V3.
if you insist on buying a handheld get a vita, but it's hard to recommend either if you have a usable PC, as there aren't that many translated VNs on consoles at all, even considering fan translations. on quarantine you don't need portability so PC seems like an obvious winner.

I always wonder if 2chan has these kinds of threads but for western games. Like "SIB an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One for military shooters?"

Anyway, get the Vita if you intend to buy one of these. The PSP is trivial to emulate, so if all you want is PSP you can do it for free. Vita will actually get you some quality weeb content not on other platforms. If you want to futureproof yourself, get a Switch because that seems to be the new home of weebshit going forward.

I want to add that the sole translated VNs on Vita I can recall are
>Steins;Gate (not the spin-offs however)
>Muv-Luv & Muv-Luv Alternative (there is also a spin-off part of a first-print offer that is jap-only)
>Utawarerumono titles
>Chaos;Child (again the romantic comedy spinoff isnt translated either)
>Hakuisei Ren'ai Shoukougun RE:Therapy
>Ar No Surge (which is missing the prequel Ciel no Surge's extra contents in english)

There are plenty more visual novels that are sadly japanese-only on the handheld, just naming a few:
>everything from Key (Little Busters, Clannad, etc)
>Grisaia Trilogy, including the short stories and Magical Idol Girl Michiru
>Flowers (yuri mystery/SOL novel in four seasonal episodes)
>Amagami (port with upgraded HD visuals)
>Eve Burst Error, Desire, Doukoku Soshite (remakes of old Saturn/PC98 point-and-click novels that dont look like ass unlike the YUNO one)
>Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm
>Island
>Ouka Sabaki Zan (an on-budget Ace Attorney game set in old feudal Japan, point&click novel where you resolve murder cases and you act as the judge in courts)
>Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai (all-in-one version)

>on quarantine you don't need portability so PC seems like an obvious winner.
Yeah the current situation doesnt help much the point of handhelds, but reading VNs on the Vita is pretty much similar to reading a book instead of being stuck to the desktop.

Just read them on your PC.

While on topic, what’s the BEST Vita game of all time. If you HAD to only choose one.

There's a metric fuckload of translatedOtome titles on Vita. Literally dozens of them
Also a lot of smaller titles you forgot like Fata Morgana and Root Double
