How many of those users do you think actually own a headset to play it on?

>furry tranny game
>literally who
>epic store trash # 1
>epic store trash # 2
it doesn't have much competition.

>those comparisons
What about some games people actually know of and released this year?

>beating literal who games
lmao flop

Why would you buy a VR game without a VR headset

brand loyalty

Brace for refunds.

As a VR fan, I hope the actual game is good. There's been so many good titles out there but they slip under the radar a lot of the time because they're unheard of to the mainstream.

Valve sold a ton of index kits since Alyx was announced, so a majority at least have their's in the mail. I guess is possible even if it's a bit stupid.

What would theoretically happen if you bought it without VR? Would the game not even run on a regular screen? Or would it run but you couldn't map mouse&keyboard to the controls?

99% of them.

if you are a Pcbro retarded enough to buy an expensive game you can't play due to lack of VR headset, then you also are a Pcbro retarded enough to buy a VR headset for said game.
When you go Consoom, you go full Consoom.

What a dumbass suggestion. Absolutely nobody is buying VR games without owning a VR headset, and if they have its only because they're waiting on their kit in the mail.
Its time to drop the coping and accept that VR has caught on for a reason, and its here to stay. Start saving your allowance

Just stop talking before you embarrass yourself more, please

>go into offline mode

PC peasants are pathetic. Biggest release on Steam? Yes, because Valve stuffed it with Unity asset flip shovelware and all the major PC publishers went to their own services.

>In North America, Bloodborne was the second best selling software in March, despite being released at the end of the month. By April 2015, the game had sold over one million copies, and by September 2015, the game had over two million copies sold.

Enjoy your overpriced trash neckbeards.

counterpoint - artifact, dota underlords

300k for a new AAA game in a series with a HUGE following like Half-Life is abysmal numbers.

>and all the major PC publishers went to their own services.
Literally never happened.

>has no coping mechanism left but pathetic tin foil hat conspiracies
lol dude. Enjoy shitposting all day while the rest of us enjoy a kickass game

Even though is VR-Only?

People insist that somebody will mod it for desktop and thus 'pwn' all the players who bought headsets for it (and missing the whole point).

I think it could happen if there's development modes that play the game in desktop mode for map testing, etc. Otherwise it's a wait for the SDK so somebody can do a conversion.

Half-Life and Portal are the only franchises Valve has that warrant any 'brand loyalty'.

Alyx isn't out yet and Bloodborne doesn't require an expensive peripheral to play it on. I don't know why console peasants brag about BB sales as if the average AAA multiplat doesn't sell well over 2 million.

For a PC exclusive VR title, not even in the slightest. You ain't the brightest, my boy

Only mention of this game are threads about how garbage it is so I don't know what you're talking about. It releases in a few hours and no one is talking about it or cares aside from bullying (you) for wasting your money.

>and all the major PC publishers went to their own services

Other than Epic and Activision-Blizzard, pretty much every PC publisher sells their game on steam. Even EA and Microsoft are selling games on Steam again.

that's sounds pretty fucking low for the first game in a hugely popular series to be released in over a decade

That's not how it works. If you release a AAA game with a massive budget for a dead system it doesn't magically become profitable if/when it sells poorly because of it.

>300k owners
Are there even 300k Indexes?

see

You can play the game on older VR headsets

VR WILL NEVER BE THE FUTURE
STOP PUSHING IT
I WILL NEVER OWN A VR HEADSET
MAKING VR GAMES IS LITERALLY ANTI CONSUMER
HELP HELP IM BEING EXPLOITED

Valve is one of the few companies who don't need to worry about profit.

kek

>releases in the vicinity of Doom Eternal
Lmao enjoy your dead game

>not owning a vr headset in fucking 2020
Lmao trailer park trash

How do you know Alyx has a massive budget?

>zoom eternal
BING BING WAHOO

I hope this game sells well. It needs to do well so we can get more 1st person VR shooters. that's one genre that works very well.

If someone can afford a VR headset they can probably afford to buy more than one game in a month.

>”Monday launch on Monday”

It's clearly not a low budget indie game.

>launch sales
>on a game gated by hardware
lol no

Same. I just hope the control scheme isn't too restrictive since I'm so used to the freedom in Boneworks. Devs and execs are going to copy it.

Technically it's indie (no publisher) and there's no evidence of a "massive budget"

lol I haven't even bought it yet but I most certainly will once the reviews drop, because anyone who has actually played it and isn't a poor shitposter who feels left out is currently praising the hell out of it. Nobody's talking about it other than to say its garbage? If you don't want to be "bullied" don't run around spreading 100% bullshit to make yourself feel better, you absolutely pathetic fuck

Consoles.

Consoles what?

>gated by hardware
All games are gated by hardware. How can you play anything without hardware?

Hardware that is widely available and that isn't just a peripheral with a single function.

You know what a loss leader is, right?
It's like Costco selling a hot dog with a soda for $2 so you buy other, more expensive, more profitable shit while you're there.
It's like Taco Bell selling tacos for $1 so you buy a $3 cup of sugar water that costs them five cents for the soda and 10 cents for the cup.
Alyx isn't going to make any money by itself but Valve doesn't give a shit because they're selling $1000 Index kits hand over fist that cost $100 to produce.

>dead system
No matter how many times you say it, it does not make it true lol VR is still in its infancy and is steadily growing in both tech and numbers. Theres no denying that unless you're literally blocking your ears. Watching the bullshit people are saying today to cope with the fact they can't play it is honestly embarrassing

>started playing AC a few days early on my hacked Switch
>enjoyed Doom Eternal, probably the best shooter ever made
>gonna play HL: Alyx in 6 hours
Good times for someone who actually likes video games.

Attached: 1454293579254.jpg (490x497, 62.51K)

>Gated by hardware

A majority of "exclusives" are bullshit. You could play Bloodborne on a PC if Sony didn't want to force you into buying a shitty toy computer.

>it’s another Yas Forums doesn’t know what’s its taking about episode
Yawn

>Implying people care more about a new Doom release than a new Half Life release
People care about Half Life so much they've all suddenly started pretending they don't and never did just to deal with having no VR lmao

oh no no no no

Attached: ryza.png (713x628, 468.34K)

>300k who also bought a VR headset
Curious to see how many of them are also index purchases

>it isn't an indie game, so Valve must have nearly bankrupt themselves making it or something lol
You're talking out your jealous asshole, bud

>Alyx isn't going to make any money by itself but Valve doesn't give a shit because they're selling $1000 Index kits hand over fist that cost $100 to produce.
A tiny fraction of VR sets sold by Alyx are the Valve's overpriced garbage.

If you think that just don't buy it. What's the problem? HLA is the game VR enthusiasts waited for years. Just because some people don't want to do anything with VR doesn't mean VR shouldn't exist.

Except PS4s have plenty of other games available. Also, how is that relevant? Unless people buy the game on release while they don't own a set, there's no way supply can meet the demand the twitter retard on OPs picture is talking about

Early reviews will be useless because the VR cult will be shilling this as a masterpiece because they need it to be....they cannot allow this game to fail or even just be "ok" for the sake of the public perception of VR.

like fucking what user, doom and ac?

>A tiny fraction

???
Why are you taking this as an attack to VR? Read my post again, retard.

Do you seriously think that a game like Alyx was made with a low budged? It's obviously not going to bankrupt Valve (nice straw man there btw), but it's 100% not going to turn in profit either.

It's never once been at no.1 sales on the steam store, which isn't even hard.

I don't think you understand this too well. A console is set in what it can play and can't have any mods, etc. A headset has plenty of games via many means as well as mods.

The team for Alyx is still relatively small compared to AAA developers with only 80 members.

thats not how it works at all

It does if it sells that system, which it is.

Steam cards?

IMAGINE
PAYING
1000 DOLLARS
TO
PLAY
ONE
FUCKING
GAME

user, triple AAA budgets are inflated by marketing costs. Valve doesn't have those since they don't need prerendered trailers on TV, they just use their own storefront and reach millions already. I have no idea how long its in developement but developement time factors into cost too

???
Another retard going defensive? Are you that deluded that you can't even read a post without thinking people are attacking your purchase decisions?

Understand this, there will not be "release sales" unless VR sets magically appear in front of people. There's a SHORTAGE of supplies, so stop acting like a retard

Do you honestly believe that Valve, known video game innovators, will finally release a Half Life game after all these years using the latest technology available, and that it will actually be a pile of garbage? Everyone who has played it so far has been impressed and is convinced its the best in VR yet, and that seems to be quite apparent even just from the little gameplay released. Its polished as fuck and even if literally every game mechanic is the same as past games, it still looks and runs better than anything out there already and would still be an absolute win. Entertaining the idea that theres even a chance it could be less than completely enjoyable is just laughable

As an example the key stores like G2A etc buy cheap keys and then sell them.

IMAGINE
ALL
THE
PEOPLE

So why do you think Alyx was made with a AAA (massive) budget?

You're the defensive one.

You're dumb. I don't think it was low budget, but I also don't think it was high enough of a budget to be out of the norm and be worth mentioning at all, like you insist on doing. Theres no other reason you'd mention a high budget as a negative other than to suggest it'll be a hit against Valve, which is where my strawman came from, idiot.
This game has sold more new headsets than ever before, which is obviously Valve's endgame to anyone with even one more braincell than you lol

Because it had the largest team of any Valve game to date

>no you
lol are you serious? OK

Do you honestly believe that Valve, known video game innovators, will finally release an auto chess game after all these years using the latest technology available, and that it will actually be a pile of garbage? Everyone who has played it so far has been impressed and is convinced its the best in auto chess yet, and that seems to be quite apparent even just from the little gameplay released. Its polished as fuck and even if literally every game mechanic is the same as past games, it still looks and runs better than anything out there already and would still be an absolute win. Entertaining the idea that theres even a chance it could be less than completely enjoyable is just laughable
