Question though, how long will it take for people you ask on the island to move in?

Depends completely on you.
Talk to nook to get a bridge and reserve 3 places for houses. Then you need to craft 3 indoor and 3 outdoor furniturs. If you get that all done then the enxt day they will move in.

after you get their houses set up they'll move in one a day

Do any time travellers know if you see villagers on islands again ever or is it only for the first 3 you recruit?

The Nook Link app keyboard is actually pretty handy. Swipe keyboard on my phone beats the in-game Switch keyboard. Still sucks having to pick up and put down my phone.

Not a time traveller but I suspect once you upgrade Resident Services and unlock the camp site, villagers will randomly appear on mystery islands again.

You can plug a USB keyboard into the dock as well.

I generally had really good DIY drop rates from mystery islands. Almost everyone has a bottle messages. Also find 1 furniture per mystery island by shaking every tree once, which I am doing right now for the 5 wasp chain quest.

I wish I had realised this before building the houses as I assumed they would keep appearing until you reach max, with any villagers you find showing up on the next available slot. I got Flurry from the islands, but the other two houses have randoms. Peanut is fine, but I want the bird gone and he hasn’t even arrived yet.

Just waiting for more villagers to move in. Not much else I can do aside from raiding mystery islands for resources. Wood is a bitch.

There's plenty of sites that let you convert images to AC designs and then that to a QR code, though for my phone is broken so I had to copy it pixel by pixel.
