Just beat Red Dead Redemption 2 been on my backlog for a year now. Amazing game and kino as fuck. I hate I didn’t play it earlier. So was this glorious bastard bad from the start and was just playing the gang or was he actually a good guy and then got corrupted when everything starting going to shit?

I think Dutch constantly believed he was doing the only thing he could do, up until "I gave you all I had, Dutch." That event, and all the things surrounding it, I think, are the reasons why Dutch is the way he is in 1. He effectively becomes a broken man.

On my first play through I defended Dutch so much and said he was a good guy who let the stress of running a gang and running from the law get to him but on my second play through in Chapter 2 I found Dutch’s speech notes and his speech at the beginning of the game wasn’t genuine it was already planned so Dutch was full of shit from the beginning

He's the perfect example of what it's like to experience being around a psychopath.
The player wants to trust him and like him and he does an excellent job at making you want to. It's his own will to be as charming as he is and the moments the player starts to put together what he really is makes the entire game.
Underrated story IMO.
Open world fucking SUCKED DICK.

It was perfect

He was a broken man when the second Hosea got killed. That changed him

I think that definitely started the turn towards desperation in Guarma and Chapter 6, but seeing Arthur die directly as a consequence of Dutch's actions, or lack thereof, killed Dutch, imo. At least with Hosea, he could blame the Pinkertons; with Arthur, he had no one but himself.

In my opinion Dutch was just a egotistical narcissistic man who strung a couple of people along for the sole purpose of having his ego tickled. He never had any plan. He never needed money. He never believed any of what he said politically. He never thought of the ideas he read about in his books.

He got exposed hard the moment things started going south.

Having said that, he evidently loved Arthur very much.

It still amazes me that Dutch would choose Micah over Arthur. Literally everyone saw Micah was playing him except Dutch himself

Agreed. I wish Micah was written with a bit more depth, desu; even on a replay, the fact that Dutch is so confident in Micah makes no sense at the start.

I lean towards John’s assessment that Dutch was never really as good as they made him out to be, and he just started showing his true colors when backed into a corner. He was nice to them in the past, but it was in service of making himself seem like a wise leader, rather than out of any sense of genuine compassion.

Dutch had a God Complex and Micah was willing to tell him what he wanted to hear.

This. Narcicistic, arrogant, idealistic bullshitter that just strung people along for his "ideals". Its a shame Arthur didnt see it earlier.

Dutch didn't really choose anything. When it came time to make the choice Dutch was faced with choosing between running away with a guy who wanted to run away from the cops (same goal as Dutch), and a guy who had gone against Dutch's orders and conspired against his back on the indian issue. He doesn't really choose Micah because he goes his separate way after Arthur dies.

In the end Dutch chooses Arthur, he's just too late on his choice. That's the entire epilogue.

taking down the brathwaithe mansion was extremely satisfying. Especially when Dutch shot the one wounded son in front of his mother. Showed how fucked up everything is in this story.

This right here is peak kino. I loved John before RDR 2 and with RDR 2, John is now my favorite video game character of all time

John using Arthurs hat on the last mission felt very satisfying. Dutch wanted things done, but it felt weird he would risk everyones life after making the italian mob and police angry.

>"Kino" outside of Yas Forums
kys

Dutch hits his head in the trolley station robbery, the brain damage leads to his fall into insanity.

I like this theory.

FUCK

Micah Bell, I'm just here for Micah Bell.

What a great thread. Cheers lads, I enjoyed reading these posts.

I wonder what what that would've been like. what else would he really do other then go after Micah?

I just want a fucking script for the PC that makes all animals perfect pelts/carcasses no matter what. I don't mind searching for the fucking animals, but then having to hope that it's a 3-star version, as well as hoping the game doesn't fuck you at the last second when you kill it, resulting in a 2 or 1-star--fuck that.

If you watch or replay that mission, at the end Dutch complains about his head really hurting and he doesn't feel right.

As much as I love John, he should have listened to his wife. If he would've just left Micah alone and didn't avenge Arthur, none of the horrible shit would've happened in RDR 1. He ruined his own life and cursed Jack to be an outlaw (the one thing he tried so hard to prevent)

Needs to be a mod where you can decorate Beecher's hope with your skins and pelts.

It's a subtle 2 lines but it confirms it, RDR2 is meant to make you feel how far we have come as a society in just over 100 years.

Arthur dies of tuberculosis and Dutch is done in by a concussion/brain bleed.

Attached: evidence.jpg (3440x1440, 552.31K)

idk soul searching and going into the depths of insanity. I just wanna know what happened in that boat and I just know it in my fucking bones he and Micah talk about it in that shack in the mountains

I really believe this is what happened because Rockstar were actually subtle for once in this game. Like how Arthur got tuberculosis. It was so subtle that you miss it your first time playing it .

I dont know he felt loony after hosea died and stuck with his own ideas and his"sons" doubting him he just went balls deep acceleration to get back at "society"

remember that time before release when people doubted that Arthur would be able to top John's level as a protagonist?
boy am I ever glad to be proven wrong

Dutch is a guy who only functions well when things are going his way.
The moment something doesn't work it's when he loses his mind, that's why he's so obsessed with everything going according to his plans.

They mention at the beginning that Dutch shoots a young girl in Blackwater for no reason at all, and then it's revealed that Micah insisted on making him kill her, which is pretty much what happens in the end, Dutch under pressure and Micah manipulating him.

>Singleplayer DLC where I cna shoot micah
If only rockstar did DLC anymore.

>try to not use dead eye
>die 4 times in a row
>ruin apparently the most kino moment in the game by redoing it over and over
shit

Earlier, so we can fix the gang.

>Continuously dying by shooting micah in the standoff prematurely

They were going to get fucked anyway.
The era known as the Wild West was a 30 year long period between 1865 and 1895.
This game happens in 1899, which means that, by then, federal agencies were already cleaning house around the country.
They were going to get hunted down no matter what.

Hosea dies after the trolley crash, it just pushes him further into insanity. Then half the gang gets lost at see and end up suffering more trauma in Guarma.
All of these things plus more push Dutch further into insanity.

It's plenty of them.
The pressure from civilization, things not going according to plan in Saint Denis, Hosea dying, Guarma being the exact type of tropical paradise Dutch wanted to escape to, only to show him that those "paradises" are even bigger shitholes that the place they escaped from...

Ah i dont remember much of the saint denis part except him having a vendetta against the mob boss and the big heist being a disaster for him
Guarma seems to have been the part he went totally out of control hearing voices and shit

Pretty much this Then when they finally get back the Feds are on their case straight away, then Micah realizes Dutch is slipping and decides to take control.
Plus Arthur and John helping each other and not caring about Dutch's opinion further cements his feelings of betrayal and loss.

>mfw 96 hours into the single player
>just starting Chapter 6

Nexus' most downloaded Trainer has that option already.

Why do people keep repeating this? The only thing we know Jack canonically did was kill Ross, that's it. For all we know he fucked off the second he did that and never pulled the trigger ever again.

Fucking woke garbage. Kill yourselves

>red dead 2 releases on consoles
>disregard it because im PC mustard race
>comes to PC at full price
>buy it reluctantly
>play it on steam
>it's actually immersive as fuck with smooth detailed animations and lively world
>feels like the wild west and i never thought would enjoy the setting
I was honestly suprised at how good the game is if you disregard the outdated mission structure and HORSE RIDING EVERYWHERE. Everything else is great. I enjoyed the game so much that i replayed it again even though i never replay any game after i'm done with the main story. It's that fun. Replaying the story missions are still fun. It's a really unique game, it's a like an immersive sim in an open world.

>For all we know he fucked off the second he did that and never pulled the trigger ever again.
oh yeah im sure the federal government is just gonna overlook a federal agent being killed
are you one of those retards that thinks jack got an education and published a book too?

Not that much of a sim.

Nice user, I just finished it today too.

We can all agree Hosea was infinitely the most based gang member right?

Here's my Arthur.

doesn't really matter. high profile citizen

I thought that too, but mostly from personal experience. My mother went through a bad head injury a few years back and was never the same again. She is easily agitated, thinks the entire world is against her, and prone to extremely violent outbursts whenever she is off of her medicine. How my father is still alive is beyond me.

Uncle is a drunkard. Amazing he got under dutch skin that easy

How the fuck do you make Arthur fat? Is there a goddamn secret? I keep eating all the time but nothing changes

Attached: A6BBD30C-F056-49DD-9547-2FC1C2099471.jpg (567x410, 22.38K)

Is even hard to keep an average weight because the game simulates real metabolis, which means you can't just eat a fuckload in one sitting and that's it, you need to eat a fuckload three times a day, one right after waking up, another mid day, and another before sleep time.
You'll also want to eat mostly candy and chocolate bars.

it was really good, although mission structure is one of the weaker aspects. too linear. my favorite parts are exploring the world and finding new secrets, rdr2 had tons so im really looking forward to see what they'll be like in gta6.

this

>retired old fuck in the middle of nowhere
How would they even find Jack, exactly? Assuming he didn't kill either Ross' brother or wife, they would maybe somehow manage to be led to the guy in Blackwater, and what would he say? A young boy in his late teens, early twenties? Jack is completely under the radar and it had been three years since "Ross" had dealt with the van der Linde gang, including the fearsome John Marston. No one even knew Abigail or Jack were a thing. I doubt wherever they were being held up while John was going through RDR1 would keep legal records on them, and if they did they'd have to put two and two together. You're also ignoring the irl distance there would be between Blackwater and lake Don Julio where Ross died. By the time important people would fully realize what happened (and what happened was an old man now useless was killed to no one important caring) Jack could be wherever the hell he wanted to be. And I doubt he would remain at Beecher's Hope, not only would the memories of his parents death be there but he alone would be a shitty farmer. For 10 years people have said Jack became an outlaw or he'd be prosecuted for what he does, but I honestly don't see it.

If you go back to the mountain, you can pick Micah's revolver from his frozen corpse.
