Would I like Nioh 2 if I don't like the first game that much? Here are some of the issues I had with it: >Bosses have massive amounts of health >Bosses are extremely aggressive and leave little room for punishment >Bosses have one hit kills that have about half a second of warmup >Trash hitboxes (Giant Toad, for example) >Side missions are shit (reused assets) and are basically required to grind to the appropriate level for main missions >Really deep combat system but most moves are so punishable that you really only end up using the same couple of moves or combos for most of the game
I know most of these aren't objectively bad things but it's why I didn't enjoy the game as much as other Souls games/clones. Have any of these been changed or is Nioh 2 basically the same in these ways?
It's the same game with a few extras. Fans of 1 love 2. If you didn't like 1, I really can't see you liking 2.
Easton Jones
No, you won't like it then. I also dislike it because of your reasons
Nicholas Kelly
Are you bad? Yes.
Jack Morgan
no, you could even say its identical to the first game except story. its nioh version 1.5 at most. some things are even worse like health of some bosses, no improvement or decline in combat just few additonal attacks.
Jose Torres
It's literally more of the same. It's like retards complaining about Doom Eternal after not liking Doom 2016 and expected something else.
Camden Kelly
Get good.
Jonathan Jackson
You will not like it, and most of your points are laughably
Dylan Fisher
Owned 1 for months, just beat boat ball demon tonight for the first time. I kinda tire of the boss fight formula of "8 seconds of dodging, attack once, dodge back, get hit anyway, 8 seconds of dodging, heal, dodge for another 8 seconds, attack once, repeat 914 times".
Anthony Collins
>All transformations keep your height
It would have been shit anyway. Would be like the shit in nioh1 where that Okatsu transformation was like a whole foot shorter than the actual Okatsu model
Isaac Smith
>Bosses have massive amounts of health same >Bosses are extremely aggressive and leave little room for punishment depends on which boss but there are >Bosses have one hit kills that have about half a second of warmup same >Trash hitboxes (Giant Toad, for example) not all >Side missions are shit (reused assets) and are basically required to grind to the appropriate level for main missions I'm playing it right now, I'm about to finish it without doing any side quest, I'm 10lvls below required level but it's more fun this way imo >Really deep combat system but most moves are so punishable that you really only end up using the same couple of moves or combos for most of the game Same with 1 but it's your choice when you should use it, be creative about it. I'm using almost all active skills on every yokai.
Sebastian Green
I mean, you could be more aggressive and learn to ki pulse and dodge. Onyroki leaves itself open for more than one attack.
Carson Perez
>I didn't enjoy the game as much as other Souls games That's why you didn't enjoy it Stop approaching the game like it's souls, because the game is specifically designed to fucking demolish anyone who does Respect the game for what it is and you'll have a better time
Hunter Bennett
lmfao git fucking gud
Matthew Green
Learn the boss' pacing and as long as it doesn't fuck off out of range then you'll be able to maintain nearly 100% attack uptime on it
Daniel Ward
Another retard who thinks nioh is a souls game souls wishes it had as good combat as nioh
Alexander Johnson
So I just started Nioh 1 and I really like it but is it normal to get fucking wrecked by every boss for a long time? I feel like by this point in Dark Souls I am starting to one or two shot most bosses but these Nioh bosses are pushing my shit in. I am at the creepy demon lady with the long nails and she seems pretty easy and I expect I will get her soon but even she can kill you so fast. I just feel like they all have a lot of life and do huge damage so one mistake fucks you.
Anyway, still a dope game.
Cooper Butler
>souls "veterans" are getting the git gud treatment
The only thing I didn’t like about nioh 1 was the absolutely fucking gay loot trash and the excel spreadsheet management that came along with it, and even that didn’t bother me until I was a few dozen hours in. My number 1 hope for 2 was for TN to realize they didn’t need that but as far as I can tell they’ve doubled down on it, sucks for me I guess but I get to keep my $60 People usually get mad in these threads when you bring up the loot so just don’t respond to me, I’m not here to argue
Nathaniel Long
Incoming damage is so high because you have a million and one ways to mitigate it Learn your blocks, dodges, and where applicable, parries
Hudson Carter
I started to have more fun with boss fights when I switched to low stance and got the skill that gives you a ki pulse when you dodge.
Xavier King
holy fuck just sort by level and you are sorted
Hunter Nelson
I mean that is what I am doing but its still difficult. You basically have to learn the bosses entire moveset very well. It's cool I just feel like a noob cause it takes me 10+ tries to kill every boss.
James Fisher
Don't play it like a souls game. Its its own beast, take the time to learn its mechanics like the ki pulse. Knowing your weapon and its combos are important. For instance, high stance attacks don't get deflected on block and are useful for draining the ki of blocking enemies.
Remember that yokai ki works a little differently to human ki, but breaking their weak point (usually the horns) instantly drains their ki and gives you a free grab. You'll get there user.
If it's any consolation, it's only like that at the start of the game. Once you get the skills you want and some good equipment, you spend most of your time attacking and only backing off when necessary.
Hudson Miller
I thought it was a bit overwhelming at first, but as the other user mentioned, it became easier when I just sorted by level and picked one of the top items in each slot.
Owen Jackson
I switched to low stance you are supposed to use all 3 stances not one throughout the game
Landon Taylor
So where can I learn about combos? I feel like I basically just switch stances depending on if I want to dodge, block, do high damage or something in the middle. Other than selecting stances I mostly just use quick attack.
Oliver Brown
Which only proves how useless the entire system is
Evan Long
Git gud
Aaron Baker
As you level up you'll gain samurai skills, these skills can be spent to learn different attacks or skills. 1kat actually has pretty few active skills other than the iai attacks but its probably the best all-rounder in the game. its parries are good and it deals good damage. As you clear regions you'll unlock dojo missions, clearing these missions unlocks the net tier until you fight one of the masters of each weapon type.
Basically invest in the weapons you want to use and get the combos for them. Odachi is basically a make your own combo stick and once you learn flux you can keep the aggression on for longer.
>Are you bad? Yes. He didn't insult the game at all yet there is always someone like you ready to fling shit
Jackson Ramirez
No, it's pretty much the same as the first one.
Sebastian Wright
>tfw never ki flux its a wonder how i even got to way of the strong
Jason Evans
>I didn't like _______. Will I like the sequel? I don't understand why people do this question so often. I personally think that playing one game is enough to judge the entire series and if you didn't like it, it's not for you.
>dark souls?? pfff play a real hard game like Nioh™ What the fuck are you guys on about? You literally have to go out of your way to not break the game.
Brayden Watson
Is Water Sword supposed to be this overpowered? It deletes boss' health and ki in seconds, while also guaranteeing inflicting them with poison, paralysis, lightning, etc.
Flux was only useful for people wearing heavy armour where stance dance meant the difference between having ki or dying like a bitch because you used everything in that one attack. In medium and light your ki regened too quickly for the flux to be really noticable.
Connor Allen
Perfectly valid question in this age of games being destroyed for the normalfag money. While Nioh 2 doesnt apply, it could have happened just as easily to it.
Hunter Hall
No it isn't given how OP didn't like the first game.
Ethan Powell
>Is Water Sword supposed to be this overpowered? Yes, as 2kat is the weapon of the hyper weeb and William is the most hyper of weebs.
Alexander Wright
Yeah Ive used light armor the whole game so I guess that makes sense. If I bothered trying to be fancy a boss would just hyper armor thru anything I did and kill me anyway.
Carter Kelly
He might be a normalfag,
Xavier Wright
Man after playing with switchglaive for so long it is hard to life without the absurd reach of high stance hard attack
Switchglaive is stylish but 1kat is too good to not use.
Grayson Clark
Thanks, guys. Think I'll get Doom Eternal instead
James Ross
>would I like this game if I don't like it? what a retarded question
Carter Gray
Hope you enjoy doom bro, and good on you for at least checking here before going into it not knowing what to expect and then shitting on the game for it
Brayden Flores
what makes it so good? I currently test every weapon so I find my 2 for NG+
Jordan Sanders
Not them but it's a very polished weapon with a lot of good moves. Does good damage and is easy to use as well. It's like jack of all trades master of none but really good at all
Lincoln Ward
> good on you for at least checking here >on 4chainz.org
Wyatt Hall
It's one of the few things this site is good for when you get past baitfags. You get pure, unfiltered opinions from people who won't try to make a game out to be perfect just to sell another copy.
Brody Anderson
No, you won't. Literally more of the same.
Owen James
The dude in the white armor look like Minamoto no Yoshitsune (same helmet)
>Stop approaching the game like it's souls Why do you people keep lying to yourselves.
Jaxson Robinson
Alright, go stream/record yourself playing nioh and relying solely on r1 and rolls
Thomas Brooks
>Stop approaching the game like it's souls, because the game is specifically designed to fucking demolish anyone who does not really. I play it just like a souls game for the most part. but with critical attacks.
Brody Brown
Well I didn't know there were ki pulses and stances in souls games. Thank you very much for letting me know Mr. Hard core souls "veteran" gamer guy.
Jeremiah Davis
>can jump in souls >can't in Nioh Ummm soulsfags explain???
Henry Mitchell
Its really not that hard. Throw in the block here and there for a projectile and that's basically the game in a nutshell. a few extra mechanics thrown in doesn't change what it is at its core.
Brody Ross
spent 60 bucks and enjoyed the game thoroughly for several days Story was pretty generic but that was expected Gameplay is basically Nioh 1 plus 2 new weapons, mostly the exact same which is fine for me The setting appeased my /x/phile deeply, I fukcing love games about myth and legend, especially this chanbara type setting Other stuff was good, music was decent in some fights, lots of the old Nioh 1 content is put back in with the new stuff
If you didn't like 1 you wont like 2
Colton Cooper
The core of the game is centered on ki pulses. Stop relying on eceleb streamers and actually play the game for once
James Jones
Oh no, after every combo i have to hit R1 now! THE GAME IS SOOO DIFFERENT NOW!!!!
Adam Price
WHY DOES IT TAKE SO FUCKING LONG TO LEVEL UP SKILLS IN THIS
Eli Hughes
>if you ignore what's different about the game its the same game! Souls vets, everyone
Lincoln Butler
Does having an MP bar make Demon's and Dark Souls 3 not a souls game? Why the fuck are you so pedantic about some retarded hair splitting difference?
All this game is at the end of the day is a Dark Souls style game with a stick shift transmission for combat.
Colton Thompson
>YOU CAN'T APPROACH THE GAME LIKE A SOULS GAME >uh yeah you can, because the extra mechanics are basically just a few minor things in addition to souls >NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! THE KI PULSES!!! THE STANCES!!!!!! both are easy anyways.
Michael Reed
switchglaives are easy mode babby tier. if you use that weapon, you're in for a world of hurt if you ever decide to respec
Andrew Parker
Nioh has levels, sweetie
Nathaniel Sullivan
>he never used r2 in souls sorry fool... *pancakes you*
I just started using the snake core in ng+ for boss farming and BOY SNAKE BEING EASY MODE WAS NOT A JOKE
Logan Wood
Yeah, it's not that hard but you'll also take 10 times as long on a basic bitch enemy. Basic Ki-pulses will only get you 80% of your ki back so you'll not extending your combo long enough to kill bosses effectively.
Hudson Hernandez
I beat both games using nothing but axe on high stance and had literally 0 issues with it. Because I treated the game exactly like souls, and it worked.
Nathaniel Lewis
>uh yeah you can, because the extra mechanics are basically just a few minor things in addition to souls Try it Just fucking try it go ahead, record this shit, i want to laugh at your absolute fucking incompetence
Thomas Phillips
Yes if you strip off the bells and whistles ultimately you're playing a hack and slash rpg with the same leveling system, checkpoint system, same corpse retrieval, same fundamental combat of sticking and moving out of enemy strings, even the same items with different thematic names. A sacred branch is just a homeward bone, the amrita stones are just souls. Because Nioh is just a spin on Souls. A very refreshing spin on the genre.
Cooper Torres
Yes, it is different, you regain your lost stamina so you are now given so many options and can approach the game in a more aggressive way, you can use all your ki and keep being aggressive because you can just ki pulse to get them back anyway to continue attacking or to evade or block. You can also change your entire play style and approach every boss in different styles unlike R1 roll, and occasional R2 because of stances. Play the game, or I guess you already got filtered Mr. Souls "veteran" hard core gamer-kun?
Owen Morgan
So does Demon's Souls. Is it not a souls game?
Kevin Rogers
William is canon 1kat and spear though
Wyatt Taylor
>he didn't level skills before the patch hit you don't know shit about the grind
Samuel Bailey
>the amrita stones are just souls They're used to refresh your LW/Yokai meter, not for level ups
Ethan Murphy
>tfw almost done with ng+ i don't know what to do after this bros, I was hoping the game would last me at least more than 2 weeks
Jeremiah Smith
Life must be easy when you're a reductionist
Hunter Lee
You can absolutely play Nioh sitting only in one stance (probably high) and going in and poking when there’s an opening
Henry Mitchell
That's because axe is easy mode, you could just stack heavy armor and spin2win You could that weapon while drunk with your eyes closed if you pleased
Jaxon James
Hmmm, maybe.
Grayson Clark
I don't see how it would be so laughable as any other challenge run. You'd just look like a huge faggot.
Alexander Lewis
Okay, Amrita stones are spices merged with consumable souls, happy?
Robert Parker
No because everyone knows when someone says they beat souls they mean dark souls one and have never touched the superior demons souls
skills don't take shit to level now so pull your finger out of your ass you fucking butt crusty
Robert Powell
>switch is ez mode >snake is ez mode >axe is ez mode
>i-if you're not doing everything barehand naked its like you're not playing the game!
>THIS GAME IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAT SOULS! YOU'RE JUST NOT PLAYING IT THE RIGHT WAY
Jose Evans
Not to mention they follow the exact same metrics going up the scale as soul, large soul, proud soul etc...
But they're TOTALLY different things!
Austin Morgan
In order to do most challenge runs without looking like an absolute retard you need to be good at the game and know it like the back of your hand. Most people who compare Nioh to souls beyond a surface level comparison are laughably bad at Nioh. So the guy would either get outed as a smack-talking dumbshit, or a master baitlord. Either way it's entertaining.
Angel Johnson
It's not, it's the exact same difficulty as punching your way through Dark Souls. The difference is you'll look like you are playing it like a noob while everyone else is zipping through the equivalent of hyper-aggresive bleedbuild iframe rolling.
Gabriel Morales
>you could just stack heavy armor and spin2win Just like Souls.
Lincoln Gutierrez
Not sure if its different in 2, but as for nioh 1 you're definitely full of shit, it takes 1 soulstone to fully recharge my gauge and 7 small spirit stones with tengen kujaku equipped. Go fuck yourself
Evan Jenkins
>Most people who compare Nioh to souls beyond a surface level comparison are laughably bad at Nioh. It’s actually the exact opposite, people that think it’s hyper different are bad at Nioh
Elijah Myers
You're straight up wrong faggot, it takes 9 smalls to fill the gauge as opposed to 4 standards, 3 with the gauge gain buff
Robert Sanchez
>Unashamedly use cheese strats to beat NG >DUUR WHY DIS GAME SO EASY??? Soulsfags are a plague
Nioh 2 is what you've named x10 times worse. The only good thing it doesn't have 2 on 1 bosses anymore. Except GozuMezu, but they nerfed their dps for a laughable size with 1.05. I'd say Nioh 2 is more frustrating on the first run even for people who are mastered original. Some of the HP bars are complete bullshit and pretty much every yokai 1-2 shots you. I hate them ALL. Tengu, Snake cunt, Wheel faggot, Rat retard, Harpie bich, Wheel Cat, Namahage, Enki, giant skeleton with axe, long neck bitches.. I'm not even exagerrating - they're all TERRIBLE. The only easy ones are gaki v1.05, common skellies, kasas (nerfed since N1) and little cyclops. Prepare yourself for alot of pain if you buy it.
