>mfw Divinity 1 is much better
does anybody else agree?
Mfw Divinity 1 is much better
Of course?
DOS 1 is leaps and bounds better than DOS2 and BG3 is going to be a dumpster fire.
Has no one actually finished DOS2?
I feel like they fucking havent because if you actually fucking had you would know just how shit the story is, just how shit the game balancing is, and just how shit the optimization of the client is.
I mean even level design goes out the window. Pretty much everything good about DOS2 is in the first act, and maybe half of the second.
To add to this:
Puzzles in DOS2 are a fucking joke, at least in DOS1 they required a tiny bit of thinking.
and comedy is another one. Whoever wrote the script for DOS1 is an actual madman, where as DOS2 is just generic lol xD garbage.
AND NOT TO RANT EVEN FURTHER BUT:
NAME THE FUCKING CHARACTERS IN THE PICTURE?
I fucking finished this game and I dont remember shit except "red prince" because hes fucking red and a prince.
I dunno I thought the consensus was the 2 was better
Divinity 1 is comfy as fuck
Divinity 2 IMO is trying too hard to be "epic" and deep, and I fucking hate this meme of having characters (playable) that all have an arc
The first act is good because it's super comfy
Then it becomes shit
I dropped it in the 3rd act
Lohse Fane Sebille Ifan Beast
That is the fucking consensus and just like a lot of other things people are literally retarded.
They either:
A: didn't finish dos2
B: didnt play dos 1
C: are just dumb fucks anyhow
11.5% of people finished this game (this is the easiest difficulty achievement which is awarded on all other levels as well)
>Ifan
>regular human self-insert
>a badass soldier that is a war hero
at least in DOS1 you can play a vanilla source hunter
Here they are trying to be deep but the characterization is totally retarded
Also wtf was it with the abilities requiring source points?
what about fucking itemization in the game. It's not even interesting. It's gotta be the most boring ass shit ive ever seen in an RPG.
HURF DUEF U GED DA +1 SKILLS LOL EVRY ONE LIKS DAT
I liked it
Fane was the actual main character of DOS2. Prove me wrong.
if it was structured as such, it might be a bit more poignant. every other "godwoken" lacks any investment in the grand scheme of things
Post your cheevs you fucking bitch.
Red Prince advocates slavery, insults other's cultures, and pursued the taboo in the search of enlightenment.
He's an allegory for the straight white male, and therefore the main character.
I'm in the middle of DOS1 act 2 with one friend, and just got out of the Fort Joy prison with my DOS1 friend and my fiance. I'm liking DOS2 more.
Yes. The armor system in second game makes the issues with item scaling more apparent. In first game you if you had a serious lack of damage, you could still play around with crowd control, however in second game there's not much you can do if you simply cannot burst through their armor, other than giving up and going on a thievery spree.
Absolutely not. Not even remotely close. Even if you're really upset about the armor system in 2, the writing alone kills OS1.
2 was the better game but I don't think finishing it would actually do anything to make someone think that. the last act is the worst part of the game by far, even with it being fixed up a bit it's still just awfully designed.
2 blows 1 out of the water in everything except the stupid magical/physical armor.
Kinda but Div 1 is so fucking slow it makes my brain explode. 50% of game time is spent watching fucking slow ass spell animations, waiting million years so you can click another character on portrait, waiting cds to put out fire after combat etc. It's so fucking slow and wastes so many hours on useless shit.
To elaborate as to why, ultimately I feel while the Physical/Magic armor split is a nuisance, it was their solution to how stupid mages get in DOS1.
The Combat/Civil abilities being split is definitely a welcome change, as now character effectiveness doesn't have to suffer due to you wanting to be able to lockpick or persuade, eliminating the need for useless mule characters.
Further, the bonuses for actually investing into combat abilities is something that feels worthwhile. Going from Rank 4 Aerothurge to Rank 5 means you can now use 6 Novice, 3 Adept, and 2 Master spells, instead of 6 Novice, 3 Adept, and 1 Master. Meanwhile in 2, it brings actual benefits outside of being able to learn more skills.
Reminder that there are Divinity games that aren't Original Sin games
this
ego draconis is an underrated masterpiece.
Did anyone actually enjoy the Rock Paper Scissors dialogue checks in DOS1? Also, did anyone actually like the passive bonuses you get for the dialogue options? Traits i think they called them.
DOS2 is better in most ways (definetly not the armor system).
That being said, the half-serious half-silly approach in two doesn't work all the times and drives some people up the wall and I can understand that.
Larian needs to pick a direction (..the serious one) in BG3.
DivDiv is kinda crap.
Beyond Div is literal shit.
Div2 is messy, but mostly fun.
cRPGs are inherently shit so no, one is not better than the other. A pile of shit is a pile of shit.
Against NPCs, no. Against Player 2, absolutely. Rock Paper Scissors is the purest form of a mindgame you can have with another player, with an incredibly low skill ceiling. It's the Grandfather of Fighting Games and Pokemon.
The system was designed for COOP. It's only there with NPC's because it's inherent to the gameplay.
Seriously though, BG3 has about a 5% chance of being good and a way way less chance as being as epic as BG2.
I mean, there's no fucking way they even clear 150 hours is there? I mean they couldn't even make the content for DOS2.
It's feels bad man from me honestly. I just want that epic BG2 adventure that lasts for months. You go through it in BG2. You lose your allies, you sacrifice what you believe in. But in these new RPGs its just so fucking easy man.
Sven says he understands BG2 and then proceeds to say its about "Creating a your party of friends and trying to save the day"
No you fucking idiot Sven, BG2 is good because not only can you create your party of dumbass friends you can do it solo, you can create a group of fucking murdering assholes and you can create a group of bickering stupid cunts who hate each other. AND THIS IS WITH THE NPC COMPANIONS.
You can't fucking do that in DOS 2
BG2 was crap anyway compared to BG1
BG2 was the start of the Bioware-ization of games where each party member has to have a dramatic / epic story arc and where you can't just play the game without being annoyed by the characters
Mostly yeah. I really dislike the action points system in 2 and how few you have, which means less variety/accuracy in skill/spell cost.
yeah imagine having characters in an RPG, truly ridiculous stuff. no-one likes dramatic story arcs or dialogue, instead I just want to play a shittier version of tabletop combat for 100 hours
Maybe its just me but I felt like DOS2 cooldowns were too lax, and let you basically do whatever you want either every turn or every second turn.
In DOS1 im pretty sure they had much more hefty cooldowns.
RPGs used to be about having freedom.
Freedom to kill every NPC you choose and fuck up the game. Or freedom to play how the story guides you.
But it should be freedom.
Unfortunately that shit is lost these days and it's fucking sad.
I remember playing Arcanum and going around killing NPC's and then wondering why I couldn't finish the game. The game at least at the time wouldn't even tell you that you failed the main story. Absolute masterpiece. Serves me right honestly.
2 is newer, so it's a worse game. Old game good, new game bad, this applies to every single game of every single franchise now.
Yup, the enhanced edition of the first D:OS lost a lot of the charm it had too.
GTA?
The Witcher?
RAINBOW 6?
You're wrong. The actual truth to it all is Just make good games
Try playing the classic and EE right next to each other. I just recently did. The EE is a significant improvement across the board. Meanwhile in DOS2 I'm not actually quite sure what the Definitive Edition patch even did.
Yeah, BG2 being one of the most acclaimed cRPGs of all time really proves your point. It really was shit. I loved how in BG1 you were basically spamming magic missile to kill rats and then you hit the level cap half-way through the game.
fixed up the last act a fair bit (though it still sucks), made the journal less awful, added a few quests in other acts. rebalanced some fights so there was less massive difficulty spikes out of nowhere, and I think they did something with xp and a few other qol changes too? it wasn't huge gamechanging stuff, but it was a pretty notable update I think.
>Divinity 1
>Divinity 2
Always easy to spot the bandwagoner redditors
Fuck off, no one played the other games
Divinity 1 is great, in my top 3 games of all time, but I doubt you've actually played it.
I had to throw the game away as soon as i ran into the talking shell that asks you to throw it into the water
>Divinity 1 is great, in my top 3 games of all time, but I doubt you've actually played it.
up up alll the way up
and the super fucking rare voice line after casting rain- about crying in the rain
I have barely gotten anywhere with it. Why is almost everything absurdly OP so far? I've killed like 3 worms and ran from everything else because that's what everybody online so far keeps telling me to do.
Rain is not a skill in Divinity 1, so I doubt you've played it either.
Now name these characters
What happened to the games that wasn't afraid of punishing the players for retarded mistakes? You can't even kill non important npcs in modern RPGS anymore. At least DOS 2, your character is actively put in disadvantaged fights, the dialogue options do matter and you can pretty much kill everyone that isn't Malady or children.
I hope DOS 3 can add even content. And hopefully add an option to where you can ping and request a specific item from another player's inventory so they don't have to spend a million years looking for what you want from them.
DoS 1 was miles better than 2 and BG 3 is shaping up to be a dumpsterfire.
I believe it's a Hydro Tree skill.
Retard, it's literally the first skill you cast in Cyseal to save the burning ship.
That's Divinity Original Sin, dum-dums. Divinity 1 is logically the game before Divinity 2. Said game doesn't have the "Hydro Tree" or Cyseal.
Nigger the thread is literally about if you like original sin 2 or 1 more. If you say 1 everyone will assume from the context and it's heavily implied you are talking about original sin 1.
If you don't understand that you must be either retarded or autistic.
No, I'm someone that has played all the games in the series. Divinity didn't start with Original Sin. That's the 5th game in the series and an offshoot at that. Divinity 3 never.
Nigger, Divinity 1 and Divinity 2 refer to only one thing in the series. Understanding that OP said Divinity 1 but meant DOS1 my post says "Divinity 1 is great but I doubt you've actually played it."
There's a reason the post says someone who played DOS1 hasn't played Div1, you overly salty tard.
Autistic and retarded it is.
oh. no one cares about those games though. they're actual eurotrash
lel, I don't think I've seen someone so upset over a simple correction or that other games in a good series were brought up.
I enjoyed divdiv more than dos1, and ddc is fun as a RISK+waifus game.
What the fuck are you talking about
They're different fucking games though. They play like diablo.
No. DOS goes downhill after Act 1. Pile of trash.
Only divdiv does. Beydiv is a hot mess that shouldn't be touched. Apart from the unfinished last act though (something true in every divinity game, os1&2 included), divdiv is really fun to play. Diablo is a good comparison. Divdiv is the only game besides diablo 2 to have fun necromancy.
So does Div:Os 2.
And this might be what we all want to hear or it might not
so does bg3
And if you think otherwise you're a god damn fucking retard.
The ONLY saving grace is that they apparently x4 their studio since DOS2, but you know- well fucking see Swen Winky you absolute clown.
I can name them and their story just by looking at them and i played it on release, sorry for your hamster memory, user.
