It feels like an arena hack and slash in FPS form. They might as have just added a style meter. I think this is a good thing though. It's not like any other FPS.

Honestly might have to lower it down to Hurt Me Plenty. UV is fun but it can get annoying taking two or three hours to clear a stage because of needing multiple attempts to get through certain fights.

I gotta disagree, nothing highlights the inadequacy of weapon switching on controller more than Battle Mode. If you can't juggle six weapons at once you are not winning as Doomguy. It's obvious which people are using KBM add-ons because they're untouchable.

I'm playing on Nightmare and it took a while for the combat to click with me. I'm finally having fun. The story sucks but it's no big deal desu

It was pretty damn fun but not without its problems, but I imagine it will get better on repeated playthroughs because I'll suck less.
I kinda hoped you'd get to use the big ass mech stored in your ship. Would've been kino if there was a stage of icon of sin where you punch each other before your mech gets destroyed and you have to finish it manually.

Eh, I don't think it's too bad, and if you just know where the weapons are (there's only 7 (8) ) then you'll be fine, it's literally a wheel and you have a joystick. Plus you can have two on quickswap at all times, your point makes sense, and game lad will always be worse. But after you map dash to the left joy stick (clicking in of course) you've got yourself a damn fine controller fps experience

Going throgh earlier levels for stuff I missed makes me feel like an overpowered god even without cheats.

In SP it's fine because the weapon wheel slows down time. In Battle Mode this doesn't happen, you're completely helpless while it's active. You're pretty much stuck using the Ballista and Super Shotty.

Easy.
Push the second ball to the middle.
As soon as they spawn throw a grenade and spam rockets.
Blood punch the mancubus and rocket it.

And the checkpoint is just far away enough to be kind of annoying

Yeah that's what I thought the second you mentioned battlemode. It clicked when I realized shit doesn't slow down, I still think if you know where the weapons are it isn't too bad, but it's definitely a fair criticism

I want to like charge balista but it's basically a death sentence on nightmare.
Guess they didn't want a repeat of siege mode so they made it useless.

destroy the mine closest to you before activating so it doesn't splash dmg you then use ice nade + rocket launcher

Feels great on a controller, bit tougher on nightmare but once you have the necessary upgrades to kick the game into high gear it's smooth sailing

youll want more when you finish it. its a rollercoaster ride you dont want to get off of. imo. btw watch the credits roll till the end for a little chuckle.

I feel like the combat has too much shit going on at once. There's too much to remember. You have to juggle weapons constantly, then there's the flamethrower for armor, blood punch, chainsaw for ammo, glory kills for health, grenade and the types for that, weak points and so on. i can't keep up lmao.

You have to make your own custom controller setup for sure. Thankfully the game supports it.

Controller is manageable, but you're gonna get pushed around by the Marauder.

I struggled with this too but it's all going to click at some point if you keep going

you have to micro manage a lot during fights and people get overwhelmed by that. Related to yours argument people were pissing on 2016 version for not having enough enemies on screen.

I imagine the Marauder fight wouldn't be that bad with a controller. Just switch between the super shotgun and ballista until he's dead. It'd probably be easier than what my current binds are. I have the SSG on 3 and ballista on Q.

The issue is Marauder loves to sidestep when he goes for an attack, and controllers are absolute garbage for keeping up with those sorts of dash attacks.

The shotgun has enough spread that it doesn't really matter. When he flinches, then you can line up a shot properly.

Also took a while to click for me, specially because I was still trying to play it like 2016. I wasn't used at spamming the chainsaw at all, for example.
Game really gets going once you get some key upgrades, just like with 2016, the early game is the hardest part. Once you get it all even the mastermode missions are kind of a joke.

I still find it weird we never got to use that mech. Maybe on the DLC, who knows.
