Can we have a sekiro thread?

Can we have a sekiro thread?
I'm stuck on this guy at the top of the tower and I have no idea how to beat him.
I just have 4 healing potions and his attack deal so much dmg.
He's really aggressive and his multihit combo is really hard to parry.

>Can we have a sekiro thread?
A thread about video games? On Yas Forums? That's dangerous thinking

Just press block when he hits you bro

you'll die enough to learn the timing on the combo parry. parrying the end with a mikri or a stomp is the best feeling.
if you stay aggressive and attack right after parrying his single hits, youll have to deal with less of his BS

Just keep smashing your head against the wall. You have to learn how to play the game at some point and Genichiro is the most common wall.
Learn to parry, react to thrusts/sweeps, and when you can get damage in.

>Can we have a sekiro thread?
what's with this limp-dicked whining
you just made one, didn't you?

Go elsewhere if you're having trouble. You can get up to 9 gourd refills before Genichiro if you explore enough, though that's probably excessive. While you're doing so, get the posture related upgrades from the Ashina arts tree, and obviously get more prayer beads from minibosses and exploration. Other than that, it's just a matter of learning his attack patterns.

>I just have 4 healing potions and his attack deal so much dmg.
How far are you into the game? If you haven't done Lady Butterfly I'd recommend beating her at this point, as you can get a good handful of prayer beads and a damage boost from that area. Senpou also has at least one mini boss with prayer beads to kill, and a very easy boss, but I think Genichiro needs to be dead before you can face them.

Also Genichiro is basically there to teach you the game. You want to be hyper aggressive on him to break his posture ASAP. Firecrackers can fuck him him, and the mist feather is surprsingly good for him. You can use it to escape his combo and get a free heal, and if you have the attack follow up skill you can counter his bow attacks easily with it. I was stuck on him for a while, until I just went balls to the wall and chased him down. Also don't panic when you see the lightning attacks, they are very easy to counter. Just jump into them and swing and you'll do a ton of counter damage and stun him. Lighting for every boss is basically free damage for you.

>you know what let's just put a Bloodborne boss in the game to fuck with the players' expectations

Fuck any fight that has both sweeps and thrusts, I can never figure out in time which it is and pick the wrong counter.

If the opponent animation looks like he's about to stab you, that's a thrust.

If it looks like he's winding up for a sweeping attack, that's a sweeping attack.

The animations are distinct.

Just use the umbrella and malcontent finger
Ez kill

Genichiro has a rough when because he's covered in dust when he does it, but if you see his sword in the center of his body then it's a thrust attack.

Multiple defensive options and choosing the correct option is the heart of Sekiro's combat mechanics. You have so many defensive options, but you need to chose the right one and chose correctly or you will get punished. It's kinda similar to the dodge system in God Hand.

You just need good spacing, beyond that it's just closing the gap and slapping his ass. Found Isshen to be much harder due to how many attacks he has, and being unable to tell what his charged sword hits would be.

Have fun with seven spears bro

You're not trying to take his health down, you're trying to break his posture by parrying his attacks at the right moment. When he breaks, you can immediately take down one of his health bars.

You can't parry every attack. Some you have to jump over.

You won't beat him if you don't have your mikiris down. Whenever he jumps back, dash forward to keep your aggression going. You generally then only need to look out for two moves, a high swing from your right and him jumping back to shoot arrows at you. Just deflect and keep running at him.

>keep hearing she's one of the most difficult miniboss fights and a major pain in the ass
>get her down first try no damage

What meme is this? She literally has only 3 moves.

parry and learn his openings
keep trying until you kill him. might take a few hours but he teaches you the game

>kill her no problem on my first playthrough
>do NG with no charm
>she's instantly destroying my posture and fucking me up
She's 0 threat the first time through, but she gets a huge buff on NG for some reason.

Different strokes for different folks

Search around for more Gourd Seeds

He's the test of the game, the game is checking if you have learnt the mechanics of the game so far Either surpass him or get filtered :)

all depends on the first moveset she uses, one lets you kill her in a few seconds, the others you won't get that opportunity, you just got lucky.

Good game, I 100%'d it a few weeks ago
Genichiro was the first boss to make me start playing the game right (getting good with parrying). Look into getting more gourd seeds and prayer beads as well, none are missable before him. He's really overwhelming until you learn all his moves
FUCK her, she's the hardest miniboss for some reason

Deflecting is your primary defensive option. Posture is your second hp bar, you recover it by holding block. Posture can't be broken as long as you keep deflecting.

Jumping and dashing have few i-frames on them. Jumping/dashing through attacks is possible but timing is tight. Use them for repositioning and escaping grabs.

Running is good and you can run forever in combat.

Get the deathblow hp regen and mikiri skills asap. Mikiri obliterates all thrusts in the game, this includes kicks (just press B, no directions). Jump sweeps and jump again on their head for posture damage.

Firecrackers are a free stun. They are also very good for crowd control.

Once you get comfortable with enemy patterns you will find that this game rewards aggression. Running in their face and eating their posture until they deflect you works very well. Most bosses have more dangerous options out of neutral compared to out of deflecting your attacks.

swing once, then mash parry until it works, then keep repeating until he does his jump move, parry his jump slam then mikiri the thrust afterwards and that should be atleast a quarter of his posture gone. his flurry attack can be parried by just mashing parry. its a little tricky when he does a sweep instead of a thrust tho, thats the only thing that really fucks me up

too wholesome, i almost died

well you can always just parry if you are good enough

You can't parry sweeps

youre supposed to sneak attack to get a health bubble out of the way. Then you are supposed to mikiri counter his thrust and deflect another attack - he will then stagger and let you get free hits.

Constantly dodging is not the right way to play.

Fuck off, you're making it obvious that you didn't play the game. Genichiro is a boss, and he can't be sneak attacked

>enemy and boss randomizer released.
>all of the crickets in the Ashina dungeon have been replaced with purple ninjas and snake eye gunners.
FUCK

__________ __ ______!

>stuck on literally the second easiest boss in the game after ogre
lol

>ogre
>easy
Lemme guess, you played Dark Souls before playing Sekiro

Just spam spiral cloud passage on them

I had to fight Owl Father followed by Demon of Hatred instead of Lady Butterfly
They did not use lube

if you keep strafing around him he won't be able to keep up and you can get 1 or 2 slaps at his butt
then just parry to death when he's at half health

How the fuck did you even fight DoH in that cramped area

Suzaku's Umbrella is a god send, lemme tell you...
Didn't even use it on my normal save where I'm like NG+8, but in this cramped area, it became a necessity

FUCK I'VE BEEN STUCK ON IISHIN SWORD SAINT FOR 2 WEEKS!!!!

DSP beat him in 3 tries

I was stuck there for a month too the first time, just persevere and you can do it too
I will only say this, Isshin's words aren't for jokes, "Hesitation is defeat" is a very valid hint to beating him
Best of luck, user. He's a fun boss

easiest of the big 3, giant arena and super telegraphed attacks

rub rub

he's tough, you gotta use every trick in the book but he's beatable. Memorize his attacks and stop trying to beat his health or stamina bar, instead focus on beating him in every little encounter, focus on not letting him get the best of you, eventually all those little victories will come together to form a win

I had to do like 50 tries before I beat him, which was really embarrassing.
Really, you just have to learn everything the game expects you to be able to do.

Learn to recognize his moves and parry them as perfectly as possible.

If you see a red sign, watch out for the flash on his sword. If it's short and in front of him, a stab is coming, mikiri (circle) around when the red sign fades.
If it's long and horizontal, coming from behind him, he will sweep.
Just jump twice and hit him from the air two times.

Other than that, just parry his attacks and be aggressive bro.
Hit him until he parries, then get ready to parry.

When he steps away from you, make sure he is not firing the arrows, then move in, ideally with the gap closer move (dunno what it's called).

You can dodge through arrows and interupt the combo that he does at the start of the fight.

Whenever he pulls his bow out and you hit him, the combo resets, so you can keep hitting him as long as he keeps pulling his bow out.
Normally, this will result in him jumping and thrusting/sweeping after 6 hits or so.

Don't get backed into a corner.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

The game got much easier when I realized how much better jumping is compared to dodging

Using oil + flamethrower when he's pulling out the spear is very effective, use the blue flamethrower because it has the highest dmg

Can bosses take the places of normal enemies?

Nope, but it seems like Snake Eyes's Ethereal form can appear as normal enemies. That is the only exception

Fuck that cunt

Her rhythm is strange, it's easy to miss a parry at some point and take a big one posture damage.

Just use the poison sword it shuts her down completely
