it's easy and accessible in a way that people who don't really play videogames usually can still enjoy, and get immersed in a way that they probably haven't before. The games that sell the most aren't the ones that are the "best" (however that's measured), it's the super accessible games that both gamers and non-gamers enjoy

I'm playing through Baldur's Gate and having gotten up to the last parts of chapter 3, I've got to say it's pretty boring so far. The whole Nashkel mines iron crisis is interesting, but traversing relatively empty forest maps, running into a lot of npcs that are just robbers (you get excited that maybe you'll get a quest or something and then they just threaten you for gold), and fighting exclusively fodder for 15+ hours is not the most engaging time. I turned up the framerate a little and that kind of helps.
