I can't do it... bros
its okay bro, dont force yourself.
Hesitation is defeat.
You have low testosterone. Seek a doctor or watch more porn.
Deflecting is your primary defensive option. Posture is your second hp bar, you recover it by holding block. Posture can't be broken as long as you keep deflecting.
Jumping and dashing have few i-frames on them. Jumping/dashing through attacks is possible but timing is tight. Use them for repositioning and escaping grabs.
Running is good and you can run forever in combat.
Get the deathblow hp regen and mikiri skills asap. Mikiri obliterates all thrusts in the game, this includes kicks (just press B, no directions). Jump sweeps and jump again on their head for posture damage.
Firecrackers are a free stun. They are also very good for crowd control.
Once you get comfortable with enemy patterns you will find that this game rewards aggression. Running in their face and eating their posture until they deflect you works very well. Most bosses have more dangerous options out of neutral compared to out of deflecting your attacks.
Literally just stop hesitating
yes you can, look inside yourself. be dishonest douchebag like a real ninja. mash guard and spam fire crackers. throw sand in bitches faces. abuse aerial ichimonji. i believe in you, user.
Abuse firecrackers for easy kills
Why you give up?
What boss are you stuck at
you can do it i believe in you
oger
Just started a new game, and gave up the charm. Fug Gyoubu was surprisingly hard, and even Genichiro gave me a bit of trouble despite how used to him I am. At least I manged to win the starting fight with him. The worst problem is mental though, I get so worried about the charmless debuff that I start hesitating
Ogre is the one boss in the game that I think is poorly designed, and I love this game to bits
Stealth kill one of his health bars by losing aggro via running away
Abuse the shit out of the flame barrel. You are a ninja, victory by any costs should be your goal
What is the flame barrel, you ask? Well, explore and find out, user! Have fun, m8
the ogre?
First of all, try jumping away from his grabs, much better success rate.
You'll want to get the flamethrower prosthetic
from the memory area (called Hirata estate)
It's very effective against the ogre, even more effective if you throw an oil jar before using the flamethrower (oil jars can be easily farmed from the bandits in Hirata estate)
You might also want to get the firecrackers prosthetic, there are 2 merchants that sell it, one of them is hidden on the mountain before the ogre, try getting to the top of it.
Also you can stealth deathblow the ogre making him lose track of you (by running and hiding away), and then sneak back on him for a stealth deathblow
Isshin wasn't joking when he said that, eh? I genuinely think the game was meant to be played with chip damage
On the bright side, Charmless gives a 20% boost to xp and sen, so persevere, user! YOU GOT THIS!
Same lad, I got filtered, feels bad man.
imagine being worse than dsp
where
Isshin is fucking my ass
I can't deal with unparriable attacks like his giant white sword slashes, no idea where to jump or run
jump on his head like it's a sweep attack
The White Sword Slashes can be parried, you're just missing the timing. You can just jump on Isshin's own head
Literally the one attack that can't be parried are the Perilous Sweeps he does
I honestly think it's quite fun, although the increase posture damage is brutal, since even deflecting attacks quickly pushes my posture to max. Then, one missed deflect and it's broken. How much worse does the demon bell make it, or should I save that till NG+?
demonbell makes enemies thougher, with harder hitting attacks to both hp and posture, but makes enemies drop stuff more commonly
So at that point I'm guessing block is no longer an option because how much posture damage I'll be taking.
yeah it's really hard if you use both debuffs
I personally don't like Demon Bell, the increase in difficulty on top of the Charmless, seems slightly artificial imo.
Still think you should try it though. It can be applied and removed at any moment
I haven't played in a week and now I'm stuck trying to fight Isshin at NG+8 with Bell and charmless.
Any mistake is pretty much a death.
Help.
spam buffed dragonflash on him
There is no cheesing, no help at that difficulty
You must persevere, user
Hesitation is defeat
If it's not fun why bother? From games were appealing for me because of the aesthetic and atmosphere with dark fantasy and knights(I completed demons souls, dark souls 3 and got towards the end of dark souls and dark souls 2 but never finished them). I don't like the design of dying on 2 hits with questionably telegraphed attacks, if I wanted a challenge with good fair gameplay I'd play a fighting game online.
I've been stuck 2 days now on the last boss. Fuckin hell after the lance and sword phase he's just too hard and I get there so fuckin weak...
Ah, the Spear is intense all right. Hesitation is defeat is a valid hint imo
Best of luck, user. Isshin's fun but a tough cookie
literally nothing he does is out of the ordinary, he's supposed to be the final test, to see if you've mastered the combat
I understand it's not your cup of tea, and that's fine, but places like Fountainhead or Shugendo are atmospheric as fuck, and I disagree about dying in two hits or the questionably telegraphed attacks
The game is fun, though it's entirely fair if it's not your kind of fun
For the entire game I defeated bosses by deflecting everything but this guy hits so many times that, even after getting every deflect right I lose posture too quickly. If I wait it to heal back, he'll heal just as fast
Also I'm talking about the one that still deals a bit damage even if you parry
>the aesthetic and atmosphere
sekiro is full of that
but it's japanese
Sorry to break it to you, user.... But there is no attack of Isshin's that deals damage if you perfectly parry/deflect
If you received damage from his Ashina Cross, then you missed the timing: you were not deflecting, you were blocking
Watch his hilt, if it shines DEFLECT TWICE IMMEDIATELY
Should do the trick
Also, here a neat trick that is unique to Sekiro in the game: his posture cannot be broken if you perfectly parry every attack, even if it becomes full
If it breaks, well then you mistimed a deflect
Take a few days rest
Use firecracker to get in free hits to chip down his vitality, once he's at half health just parry his shit, he'll be killing himself every time he attacks you. His jumping attack is also free hits.
I'm pretty sure the sound I'm hearing for basic guarding and the deflecting that I'm doing is different though, I haven't heard the weak clink sound of guarding all fight
Unless there is guarding, deflecting, and perfect deflecting that I'm missing somehow, I don't get it
Anyway, I made it to the last phase with half healing now
I never used a single consumable in Sekiro other than Divine Confetti.
I did use the Gourds and the Spiritfalls since you actually earn them and using the Spiritfalls have a downside. Using sugars is playing on easy mode
I'm a complete spaz and even I could master It and beat it without Kuro's charm. Where are you stuck OP?
Did you go to Hirata estate (rainy village area)?
>Where are you stuck OP?
everywhere, the game is beating my ass left and right.
I'm using keyboard
Mouse and Keyboard isn't an excuse, I beat the game on the hardest difficulty on mouse and keyboard
In fact, I'd wager that it's easier to deflect on mouse than it is on a controller(can't say for sure, I've not used a controller in ages)
Item cycling and prosthetic cycling can be a bitch though... Dodging can be slightly tough, but you'll get used to it in no time
There is a dialogue in the game that goes like this: "Hesitate, and you lose" and I believe it is a very valid hint to beating the game
Do not hesitate to try to deflect instead of blocking. Try, die, learn, rinse and repeat
That is the mantra of this game
>I beat the game on the hardest difficulty on mouse and keyboard
thanks for giving me hope
No, a deflect means you were perfect, and you wouldn't receive damage
Last phase? Best of luck, user. You got this

ONE
>if you used shurikens + chasing slice you did not beat the game
Stopped reading right there, fuck off. The chasing slice is merely a means to keep up the aggression against enemies
NOTHING WRONG WITH ME
TENGU OF ASHINA

THE PARENT IS ABSOLUTE! Their will must be obeyed... Yet I'm sensing some insubordination
OHOHOHHAHAHA!
GET UP AND GET DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS
The hardest part of Sekiro is just learning how the mechanics work. Once you understand that hesitation is defeat and that combat is only 30% doing damage and 70% breaking posture through pressure then things become a lot easier.
Nice a Sekiro thread i'm replaying it right now. Just got to genchiro having problems with his second phase again, trying to remember is 4 gourd charges ok for this fight?
If you're good at the game, not even 1 is required imo
Genichiro is meant to be a test to see if you learn the mechanics well. If you did, then he should go down in not more than few attempts
But yes, 4 should be good if you haven't explored Senpou Temple/Ashina Depths/Sunken Valley
Finally got Platinum. The most mind-numbing shit in the game is running Outskirts-Stairway a hundred times for skill exp farm.
You can have 5 by that point in the game, but it should matter. Really you should be using 1 gourd per phase on Genichiro. You don't want to back off and heal, because you want to keep hammering his posture
