Don't recruit villagers on random islands unless you really want them, they will stop spawning on islands after you've welcomed three, and won't reappear until after you've recruited one via campsite.

No. Pandas are native to China. You will get sick.

They follow a set of patterns, slow increase, slow decline, slow increase to sharp spike to sharp decline, and random. The spikes are known to happen on certain days. You can look up the pattern types to determine the best day to sell by if the price hasn't gone up.
