halo was big but, is masterchief recognizable? i dont think most people would know who that is. halo got popular as a multiplayer game so while the armor might be recognized, masterchief as a character would not. people forget that during its boom it was just multiplayer and that awful red and blue shit people paid attention to. it didnt get big cause the story was just that good

What’s the argument if we’re comparing him to Doomguy? You could say the same thing about him that people would just be like “oh Doom” or “oh Halo”. Master Chief is way more recognizable than Doomguy but Doom deserves to be in more either way.

I like Halo too but let's not go crazy here.

1: Doomguyfags don't seem to actually care about the character. I've seen moveset mockups for Eggman, Louie, Rayman, but I've never seen one for Doomguy. I'm left to wonder if he just has no potential.

2: A lot of people who advocate for Doomguy are identical to those who say they want Reimu and Ryu Hayabusa. They're bandwagoning on what they feel is a safe character pick so they can say they were right if the character gets in. They don't post the characters they actually want, it's all competitive shitposting.

3: The arguments used in favor of Doomguy (he would rep PC gaming, he reps an under-represented genre, a lot of people played his game) apply to a lot of other characters as well, and have nothing to do with *what they bring to Smash*.

4: I want other characters more than I want Doomguy. He's a guy, as the name implies, who punches and shoots. That's all there is to him. He has no personality, he has no identity, he doesn't even have any iconic quotes.
