Since you missed all of the threads for the past 3-4 days, except for Charlotte, the third party member doesn't join until AFTER the demo ends.
Also, you should have made either Angela or Duran your main to get their full story.

Unless you pick Charlotte as your third character, the last party member doesn't join until immediately after the demo. I get it felt like a good time to stop the demo there since it's already kind of long and if you add the third character's prologue it'd be even longer, but it's still kind of awkward to pick a team and not get all of them, especially when they join so soon afterwards. If they extended it a little until after you get on the boat escaping Jadd then you could start the game in a good spot when it comes out and you transfer over your save.

People kept saying that Hawkeye is one of the stongest melee characters but why is his damage so terrible? Duran completely kicks his ass in damage in the demo.

I always thought the dancing merchants in the original SD3 were oriental women wearing faceveils. Seeing them reimagined as (admittedly pretty swaggy) old bearded dudes was a little weird.

Take any and all advice you get about team comps relating to the demo with a grain of salt because they're based on the snes version. Only thing that matter is which pair gives what ending at this point.

I played through the Demo on hard and it was still crazy easy, does anyone have any idea if the difficulty increases later on or are we all in the dark right now?

I haven't played her intro in the remake yet but apparently they tried to change some minor things to at least attempt to have it make sense (the ninjas grabbing her brother so she doesn't notice or such) but the general story is exactly the same.
Just to rub it in, the flowers that put everyone to sleep instantly only work once in your entire life, you're immune after you get exposed. Too bad the entire military of the kingdom that's right next to those flowers was never exposed to it, huh?

Angela/Duran, Kevin/Charlotte and Lise/Hawk give the same ending. That's what it means by pairs.

I still like Duran and his playstyle but I always thought it was weird this guy gets to be the pseudo-canon main protagonist of this game when he, compared to the other characters, gets away relatively traumafree.

Well, I'll try another character on the PS4 version. Maybe it won't be as bad. I wanted to see graphical differences between PS4 and Switch anyway.

I am interested in the remake, but should I play the original first? I honestly have never played a Mana game before, so I was interested in the Collection to begin with, but still... for some bizarre reason, I am willing to play the Remake of Trials without playing the first game, but not the original Trials without playing the original and Secret first.

I reached the point where I'm asked to go stop the Benevodons in the original, is there a preferred order for them and their areas or are they all roughly equivalent? I went to the water Mana Stone first since it was closest but one of the enemies inside deals a really high amount of damage and party-wiped me with a single skill. It's just a couple levels above my party too.

You can do them in any order with the exception of Dark who has to be fought last.

Yeah, I understand that there was a lot of blood shed during that event, but I still feel like the story frames it in a way that makes it seem like collateral damage rather than something we are actively supposed to be sad about. If we had known some of those soldiers were friends of Duran's and given names it could have been spun in a "i couldn't protect my friends because I was weak, therefore I must get strong". But as it is now, the story focuses on Duran going "hurr durr must be STRONG because muh HONOR" rather than "I want to save/avenge someone I cared for". Angela has something similar going on but I think her backstory does a greater job emphasizing how distant her mother was and that she saw Angela as nothing but a useless tool with only ONE redeeming quality in the form of DYING disregarding the whole brainwashing/mindcontrol thing. I also don't really enjoy the whole "I must leave my hometown and NOT come back ever until X happens because muh strength as a person and muh honor", seeing as Kevin, Hawkeye, Riesz and Angela had no choice but to flee their homes or they'd be killed on sight (Charlotte's case is more like "uwu if I get back my gwandpa wiww scowd me and then gwound me >.

It really doesn't matter. The game was made for Switch in mind. If it was for PC/PS4 only the environment wouldn't look so empty.

Quality is higher on both others.

I think the only suggestion is to do the Moon one later on. Other than that, don't use magic / techs stronger than Level 1 against random encounters because they're going to counter you and nuke your party.

I've learned from the SNES version that I love to have Angela along. No one else is decided yet.
There's just something about oneshotting an entire screen worth of enemies as soon as I enter the room that I can't get over.
