Nope, it's based on Arabic "'aris" as meaning bride, because she's waifu material.

Her name specifically wasn't meant to be on the nose, hence why even in the Japanese draft and version, her name is specifically spelled as as "Aerith" in english, and hence why it was her name being corrected as Aerith for all future titles but not the other names and terms being corrected.
