From the looks of it, it didn't seem like a console port or anything, the futuristic setting just didn't appeal to me at the time.

I also didn't care for them downgrading as the series progressed. Nothing beats some of the BF1942 maps with naval warfare or coral sea or even Battle of Britain with huge dog fights. Dog fighting is also more fun with planes that don't have lock-on missiles and balance issues like the J10 (even though the J10 noobs were easy to destroy with an F35b -- I played a lot of Dragon Valley).

Battlefield 1942 is just so iconic and the gameplay is great, even today (needs a gamespy patch to play though). And it's not just nostalgia because I still play it occasionally and it's still great fun.

1942 is a generic ww2 fps, 2142 offers something literally no other shooter does even to this day

All of them sucked post BC2. The "destructive environment" in all of them is just a joke and the gameplay isn’t even fun. But I’m having doubts if BC3 will even be good with the way Dice is going so BC2 may have been the last good Battlefield we ever got.

my biggest gripe is how needlessly big the maps are. i hate walking 10-15 seconds to get into any kind of battle, die, and do the walk all over again. it doesn't help that i always seem to get a team of scouts that want to camp in spawn secluded spots.

battlefield is good but its slowly become too hardocore for me. the only people still playing these games are military junkies and veterans, its almost milsim tier now.

BF started copying CoD some time ago. And some time ago CoD started copying Halo. And on and on... a bunch of mainstream games were just copying each other and hopping on each others' band wagons and now you're just left with bland boring generic mainstream dumbed-down gameplay that follow checklist formulas.

i honestly dont get shitted on once i get into the swing of things, ive maintained a 2+ kd and >300spm through the series. its just these games dont retain scrubs, and eventually every match is a sweaty and fuck thats taxing

Why would you even want to buy the game, what’s the appeal to you? Multiplayer is just arcadey trash without destructive environments and single player has one of the worst stories I’ve ever seen. In the 30 or so matches I played before uninstalling I came across 1 hacker so I can’t say there’s many hackers.
