thats because english is a composite language. in english you pronounce loner words as close as is possible to their original. when writing you use the rules of the language provided it has rules for romanisation or uses latin characters

If you skip the scene where you name her by glitching in the english version her name automatically becomes aerith because its hard coded by the japs and the translator didnt touch it, nomura even wrote 'aerith' next to his original sketch of her.
